    Weapon Poison

I don't think poison should be rare. In fact it should be common, but should be diverse. So the most common one would be infection one - if you shot a zombie with an arrow and didn't clean it, that arrow will certainly cause a nasty blood infection. If you dip an arrow into acid or any other hazardous liquid, it will cause shock and intense pain. A poison made out of some rare plants or morphine or something else that is quite rare will disorient the target or even make it pass out. And why do you worry about people spamming it? If he knocks you out with an arrow he'll just take something he doesn't have and leave you, right now all you can expect is being shot to death with an AS50 and respawn at Kamenka with no gear.

    Adding DayZ mod to PS3

PS3 costs less than a computer of same specs? Are you fucking kidding me? And the games that cost considerably more (for consoles). Sell your stupid console and buy a decent computer. It is more versatile and lets you use 10 fingers instead of 2.

    Skill System in DayZ?

In one of the dev interviews I heard they are actually introducing the skills into the game. And I have to say we NEED some kind of character progression if we want to supress current deathmatch tendencies. I think that rather than making chance based make some tasks require decent skill level: So changing tire can be performed by literally anyone, but installing a heli rotor or a car engine will require high engineering skill. A bandage can be applied by anyone, but defibrilation (if implemented) or clear identification of the infection you have can be performed only by qualified medic. A skilled hunter will aquire more meat from animals or can even craft something out of hides (we are going to have crafting I presume). And so on. Skilled players will be a valuable asset even for bandits. It will also bolster interactions between lonewolves as right now they have almost nothing to exchange.
  4. Yes, look at skyrim and its ugly clumsy interface made for two-fingered console dopes. The biggest problem of cross-platform games - devs have to dumb them down to make them playable on the console. And what is worse they sometimes design them for consoles first and then port them to the PC (skyrim again) which makes them even worse. This and fucking release delay for PC in favor of consoles, this is just bullshit. Also, I don't want the devs to water down the development to spread their time on different platforms. EA or Ubisoft can do it as far as they have ton of people to work and they are business-oriented companies, so leave it to them.
  5. Why do people hate powertools? there are batery-powered ones, you know? I like the nailgun especially. Everything is good apart from katana - the one you see most of the time are decorative ones: if you try to hit with it the blade will break off the grip - they are constructed that way. So you will hardly find a combat one. Another idea: bush trimmer+circular saw blade. heheh, you know what it means. And by the way, do you understand that putting zombies on fire doesn't stop them? All you get is running FLAMING zombies. They could die off in a minute of intense burning or two, but not instantly. So that seems to be quite risky. On the other hand molotov could be a good area denial weapon against other players.

    Foliage movement?

You can already attach things to vehicles in the editor. So slapping bushes onto your car can be achieved even in the mod.
  7. The whole OP is exaggeration. It will not take 10 min, but it also should take more than 2 seconds. Especially when you're fixing the engine.

    Clothing ideas for SA

Rocket said that clothes will be more functional than aesthetic.
  9. Glad I could help! Also, another idea to play with: if weapon selection will stay the same (scroll list), make loadout dynamic. So you have 3 pistols. You can hold one in the holster, one in the pocket on your pants, one in your coat, but you want to actively use only two of them. You just drag n drop the one in your holster and the one in your pants onto the "loadout" tab. This way only those weapons will appear in the scroll list (drawing the one in your pocket will require more time though). This way you can also use or not use your hatchet without stupid "remove from toolbelt" procedure. So to make it clear "loadout" is not a group of slots (primary, secondary, tertiary), but effectively a shortcut for the weapons you have on your character.

    Imitating Zombie Walk

You can safely evade zombies right now by just crouching past them. I assume this mechanic is about fooling other players, rather than Zeds. If you are careful enough, shambling wouldn't make you more noticeable to zombies than crouching. In the SA clothes will be more diverse, meaning you can easily blend in. Of course you'll have to stash some of your gear elsewhere - a hatchet in your hands and an ALICE pack will definately blow your cover. Though zombies clothing should be random also, including civic backpacks.

    Sex and Social Interaction!

Well, people do sing in ArmA 2 while flying to the LZ. So it is safe to assume they would do it while waiting for food to cook over campfire (cooking should really take longer than 3 seconds). Spacestation 13-like guitar that you can play with the notes you input (via textfile) would actually work too. Hahah... rape people @ gain humanity. I would love such systyem implemented. Not because I like raping people - but for the cynical cruelty this game is all about :P

    Imitating Zombie Walk

heheh, yea. That would be fun - stash your gear somewhere, go into the city in stock clothes, shamble around safe from snipers.
  13. OP, stop trying to be a smartass. Half of those ideas are sane, especially about repairs taking more than 3 seconds and sprint being actually finite. No one's saying you must blow your nose yourself, but it's a survival simulator, and you have to stay warm and actually think what you drink\eat. There's also nothing wrong about taking a swim in a lake once in a couple of days. Anything that distracts you from running around the coast shooting freshspawns is good if implemented correctly.

    Getting Blood Solo

I got the idea of player to player blood transfusion while I was reading the OP. That's a good idea considered you'll have to sacrifice some of your own blood to help your friend. Though it should require a special kit that can be found at the hospital. Blood should regen while you're well fed and are sitting at the campfire at a rate of 5 points per second. If the food will require some time to cook, then people will spend more time by the campfires socializing, which is good.
  15. Great design! I don't think it's cluttered - it certainly won't be on fullscreen and with some tweaks. What I like about it - it's custumisation-friendly which is good for such project. Why? It is detailed, meaning players won't have to choose between a scarf and goggles only because there is only one slot for them named "face" It has expandable slots (like belt), meaning you have more freedom to combine your loadout. Backpacks have individual layout - that means everyone will look for backpack that fits their needs instead of just taking the biggest one. Though it's still on the way to perfection About the flaws: 1. It really looks cluttered. Group up "directories" and make slots assigned to them collapsible: For example eyewear, neck, headgear, neckstrap, face\neck can be assigned to "head" directory. This way all those 5 slots will not clutter the view the whole time and will free some space for somethoing else. When you need to put something on or take off (completely) you just click the "head" directory and it expands. Thus you can divide the whole inventory into following directories: "head" (eyewear, neck, headgear, neckstrap, face\neck) "wear" (clothes and all related slots - pockets, bands, wrist slot) "belt" (belt slots and all attachments) "loadout" (your primary, secondary and the "shoulder" slot as you are most likely to use it for another primary weapon. note that primary and secondary are just for convenience - secondary gun has to be located in some slot be it pocket or belt) "back" (a slot\directory for backpack) Locate (on the UI) "head" above, "wear" in the middle (so it can expand to the sides), "belt" under "wear" and "loadout" with "back" on the bottom (when you expand backpack it slides in from the side) Using such directories you can clear the clutter of the UI. I don't know if journal and ID slots are needed. You can hold those things in pockets and access them via hotkeys. 2. Make additional slots for containers (like back for backpacks): beltwear: You can equip a range of belts from simple civil belt that you can only tuck one tool under (hatchet for example) up to belts with pouches and tactical belts with mumerous slots. Holsters can be attached to belts to contain sidearms for quickdraw (otherwise you'll have to fiddle in your pockets) Vest Everyone in DayZ runs around in tac vests now, that's why we have slots to use. vests should be treated as backpacks, ranging their own layout from simple hunting ones up to military grade ones which might even have armor.

    Car Keys

I think keys should be in the game, but under following conditions: vehicles spawn randomly (locked and unlocked) keys can be found in the car, or on one of the zombies around if you are lucky enough vehicles can be picklocked if you have toolbox+ (kind of "professional" toolbox that spawns rarely compared to common one) and a crowbar picklocking takes decent amount of time and is loud (come on, we're not in GTA here) keys can be dublicated using workbench in service station by the road or that toolbox+
  17. Wow, this looks really cool! It looks like Age of Chivalry mod legacy. But it looks quite complex - I mean, all those moves... do they depend on your movement direction or do they all have specific buttons to press? Because chivalry seems to be a fencing simulator and numerous key-binds are okay in those circumstances. The system I suggest uses default intuitive keys (check the OP) for the moves. If we want to have such system (I mean the one like Chivalry) in the game we should consider the following: DayZ is not about knights - thus moves should be straightforward and simple. They should be easy to learn\use. (i.e. minimum or none extra key-binds, intuitive in use) What about: Lclick = swing Rclick = block Rclick+Space = shove off\kick hold Lclick = charged strike (downward swing with axe, stab with a knife) Rclick+Lclick = attempt to throw opponent off balance\knockout (chance-based in combat, 100% if performed from behind) That's rather easy to implement as it would only require some new animations.
  18. Pretty informative post over there, thanks for the flaws noted! Could you add some links to the videos demonstrating this system or at least links to the games? That would help to get the idea :) And yeah, you got almost every thing right, and also yeah, you missed those lines :P : About the "roll of a dice": The whole success is defined by 4 major factors: The weapon you use (check OP) Your current state (health, fatigue, skill level, e.t.c.) The move you choose (i.e. responding with offensive move to offensive will most likely make you catch the blow) This way it will be neither totally random, nor repetitive. Why I excluded timing? Well we can use it, but that means that players with lower ping will always have an upper hand, which is not fair (in a bad meaning). These are golden words, my friend. I think that melee should receive more attention in the SA than it used to have. Eveyone and their dog shouldn't be running around with M249 and such system may bring more to it.
  19. There is a mod that makes trains usable. A decent way to travel around the map as a group if there are ways to defend it from inside without exposing yourself too much. Having alot of space to fill up seems good to me. Also, blocking it with cars wouldn't really work. Tank traps? Maybe, but still not the case.
  20. Nagg off, carebears. Rocket stated that everyone has their choice to behave as they like. It's apocalypse - everyone's their own god. If you want to be immune to players (provided zombies don't pose any threat for now), then start a private hive or learn to survive for a change. I'm not a trigger-happy bambie-murderer, but I know when to stride and when to crawl, when to fire till it goes click and when I should just stop, drop and hide. Learn to survive - that's what you are here for. Either do that or go watch My Little Pony.
  21. In soviet russia subforum posts on you, Okay, stupid jokes aside, he suggests to implement butt stroke move to shove zombies out of the way. It was suggested here and I bet in many other places, but it still a good thing to add.

    Self Defense = Banditry Fix

The whole humanity mechanic is clumsy and stupid. That's why bandit skins had been disabled at some point. I find it really stupid that you aquire a huge glowing "shoot me, I'm a bad guy" sign above your head even if you were defending yourself or shot someone accidentaly. If humanity system has to stay, then it should be as subtle as possible. Like a sped up heartbeat you hear when a player with low humanity approaches you (though it shoud fool you sometimes), or blood-soaked sleeves\hands if you looted player recently and haven't washed them. Any automagical sytem that bluntly divides the goodies from baddies is wrong for this game. Especially some halloween costumes that appear on you out of the blue and you can't take them off no matter what.

    Most Useful Weapon..Your Thoughts

A good starter combo is 1911 and Winchester 1911 is a one-shot vs zombies and ammo can be found everywhere (you can also convert it from the revolver ammo) Winchester is pretty common, ammo is plentiful at barns, semi-auto (15 rounds per mag) and quite accurate, so you can be good both up close and on mid range. It's also quiet and looks badass.

Third person vs First person view

Nice post, man! Can I incorporate some of it into the OP? That way people will definately see it.
  25. I don't see any good in humanity system. YOu shouldn't be granted some items given to you by some magic fairy for being naughty or nice. The only thing that would work is some heartbeat you can hear when approached by a murderer who killed alot of people. Your perception should fool you sometimes though so people don't rely on this completely. Also, looting dead players should paint your hands and sleeves with blood until you wash them and clothes can become blood-soaked if you kill too many - that would be a good sign too.
