  6. First, I knew that video and it was pretty accurate... Second, good view you have there. So I think you want this game to be rewarding (as do I) and also punishing (so do I, too^^)... Yes, that would be a target to strive for but this is not the current state of development of the game and there you have the problem. The community delivers so much input for the devs to make something of it and nothing really happened so far (afaik). But how'd you punish people for just killing for the thrill or the laughter or whatever juvenile reason? I think this is difficult, because your character is not really related to a realistic world where you have dreams, regrets, hope and so on - you steer a dull human-like pixel pile through a boring and not challenging environment... Of course people get bored with it and resort to the next thing there is: pissing other people off, killing them, spoiling their fun and so on - for no apparant reason. I always try to act as if I was there and sure, I can only walk around at this point and collect some stuff I might be needing or not. I always think about what I could actually do with a screwdriver besides having it with me looking neat and taking up space in my backpack... and there we go: Nothing! Why are those things there but not usable? Why isn't there anything to do but go around in hopes of conflict? Don't ask me, knock at the devs doors and ask them... I think whoever wants to be patient (including me) will be rewarded at some point even if there are rumors that this game is and ever will be flawed *cough*. Excuse the sarcasm, but as far as I am concerned this game came out too early even for an alpha - so all of you who see that as an excuse: No. I agree with the dude called "skin_head_army"! Edit: You should never generalize! Ages 15-30 is a wide range and lots of people are cool about the non-violent approach!

  8. I recommend you to join a server with "rapid" restart times. I've my favourite with a 6 hrs refreshing rate and that works fine. You never come to a place completely clean, no matter how many ppl are playing :)

  13. I found your post fair until you decided to call me somewhat of a guy that seeks trouble. No sir, I am waiting for further updates as well and I really hope the hunting thing will bring a new touch to the game. I'd really like to function as a merchant of some kind but well... there is no working system for that atm... This game still has potential and just to say it can't be saved no matter what is plane stupid! There is so much you can implement: - fortresses with human gatherings - hunting - vehicles - maybe even special zombies - wanted posters - and so on I really hope for something like that but until then we all just have to sit and wait...
  14. It seems to me that you have the wrong expectation of the game then... at least at that point. Most likely the killing will never cease and will always be a part of the game - and well, that's what surviving is about in a modern environment, isn't it?
  15. So I just was there strolling around the airfield in the north always with two watchful eyes and an ear for strange noises when I hit the fire station... On the ground I saw a fully equipped Mosin and two meters next to it a pile of stuff someone must have dropped there. Seeing this situation I first checked the middle tower for anyone else then me and found nobody. When I looked across to the firestation I also did not see anybody in there so I decided to go for the rifle. Walking over there I felt pretty high and mighty since I could not see anyone around the airfield so I stood next to the gun and was about to pick it up when suddenly *PEW* and dust is spraying off the wall right in front of my face! I just ran and ran to find myself with not just sweat all over my pants... well, I was lucky once! I decided to take some time off of most likely populated areas so I went to Kabanino. When I arrived I just lied down and shot a zombie with my pistol when suddenly I heard say someone: "Hey buddy!" I jumped off the ground and turned around and saw a freaking creepy guy right behind me to shout: "Don't shoot, don't shoot!" So I put away my gun and went on with him to Stary Sobor to loot the place... I was lucky twice! Man, what a day! After I gave ammo to him and some food I was left to myself heading for Gorka because my newly acquired buddy had other plans (he was thankful for my help) I was poking around the farm house finding a Mosin. Quick assembly: Mosin, PKU, compressor - wonderful. After that I just saw two guys running into the village and I just greeted them without a weapon drawn and asked them to put theirs away... Well, the didn't but instead circled me and I saw myself wedged between a wall and a stack of hay. In agony I repetedly asked them to please go then if they're not trustful of me so they went away for about 150m just to turn around again... Them ignoring my warnings I just took the shot at the one who turned around first and blew away his kidneys: He bled out of both sides of his body screaming: "What the hell!" After he lied down to the ground I took him out and the other one just ran to cover... I decided to leave the crime scene as fast as possible just to get lucky... three times in just one hour of playing... Those are experiences that make this game crazy fun and the guy in the red jacket didn't even have to die but he chose to screw around feeling they were the stronger ones in this situation...

    I don't actually support the 1 hit idea because that would be too simple. What I'd suggest is that there are different attacks: biting, scratching, pushing and so on. Every attack poses a different threat to ppl like poisoning, sickness etc... that way you wouldn't have the 1 hit problem but realistic zombies ;) Walking Dead Zs would be awesome - I wanna have living heads on the ground, too^^

    I could imagine zombies which attack you and you are always able to block their attacks even if you have an empty pistol in your hands. The zombie is coming at you and you just bash against its decomposing face to prevent it from biting you. They could also be able to knock you down I guess. This doesn't even have to be an extra mod but a permanent implementation for the game :) I like your aspect!

    I noticed those cardboard box stuff... I am curious that I can spot z's from a good km away but players disappear at around 300-400m leaving just their gear behind :D I really have to reconsider if it's not better to deal with 20fps but not be surprised by snipers or M4 guys that easy...

    Hey there folks and devs :) I think everyone agrees that there are performance issues with the game: FPS lags, desync problems and so on... I also wanted to adress the issues I had with loot so far and I really just found that out because my focus went from "full army guy ready to fight back" to "ordinary/average survivor you'd meet durin an apocalypse". So obviously the problem is not the food, crafting items (most of them unusable yet but we are thrilled what is going to happen in a few months :) ) or weapon mods but rather the high amount of assault rifles (talking about the M4) you can find all over Chernarus. For example if I take the route Balota, Komarovo, mil. base, Pavlovo, Zelenogorsk, Green Mountain, Pustoshka, mil. base, Vybor, airfield with many military structures and garages I manage to find up to 10 M4A1s and 10 SKS rifles and additional rifle modifications (mags, stocks, grips, sights and so on) but only 1-2 pistols/revolvers and no magazines for them. Ammo is plentyful by the way - for all types of weapons. But mags for M4A1 outrange every other mag available ingame! Why am I adressing this? Well, the M4A1 is overpowered for the moment and I guess it will be for a very long time which affects the core gameplay. Why am I not finding any "hick guns" when searching every barn I come across but when I randomly enter a medical station? This doesn't make much sense to me and if there were more civilian guns then ppl might not get rogue so quickly as the ranges/accuracy aren't supplied by those guns. I am just putting it out there as a thought. Feel free to join the discussion. I hope I brought my point across :) And yes, I know this is a alpha build but as I said: I guess that this could be adressed besides performance/zombie problems :) Thanks for your understanding!

    I can see your sarcasm there but that's fine with me. Now maybe one should read what I wrote so that one can see that I did not want to offend or bore anyone with my post. In all fairness :) OT: I am also thrilled what is going to happen and - but we saw so much that's been introduced with the last devblog that I am optimistic about a rapid development from now on - maybe not beta by the end of the year but much, much farther in development and much, much farther in game stability and foundation (loot, pvp, zombies, etc)!

    I've got sceneComplexity=100 000 now and that just works great! I really can walk through middle-sized villages without having FPS problems. preferredObjectViewDistance=1000 and that is fine as well. I don't think I am going to have problems spotting other players with those values?!

    Regarding fair play: Is this an allowed alteration? Edit: I've never played the mod but some players told me that you were actually able to disable trees and bushes by changing certain values in your .cfg. I don't want that to happen because of fair play :)
