Can someone plz tell me if this texture flickering is normal or not? Before I RMA my card I want to be sure. Thanks =D
-
I've used your exact settings - and I'm still having the same issue, only difference is that the trees flicker less and seem to have semi-transparent borders (with white pixel flickering). So you don't notice these issues at all? After watching some youtube videos of ppl with 7870s/7850s playing Arma 2 or Dayz I've seen this issue. What drivers are you currently using?

Hey guys, ever since installing my new card I've been having some issues with textures. Small or thin textures seem to flicker, it really bugs my eyes and I find it extremely distracting. CPU: i5-3570k GPU: Sapphire 7870 OC Edition Mobo: Asrock Extreme 4 RAM: Patriot Viper III 8GB @ 2133mhz PSU: Cooler Master 650W 80+ Certified I've also tried this card on a similar system with the same results: CPU: Phenom 965 BE\ GPU: Same Mobo MSI 770-C45 RAM: 4GB Patriot Viper II @ 1600mhz PSU: Same I've tried many different configs both in game and in CCC, I've tried drivers 12.8 through 12.11. I did cheap out on my PSU - http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=33_441&item_id=028286 Here's a video so you can see what I'm talking about: - notice the red & green house and surrounding area. (specific ingame settings are listed in description)1) Is this normal? 2) Could it be faulty card/psu? 3) Any idea how to fix this? Advice is appreciated -

A fellow Canadian =D, can you give me a little more insight on what the performance gains are? If you've been monitoring your FPS can you give me an estimate on how much your FPS has improved (and if there's been any improvements with FPS inside big cities?). Thanks =D

Hey guys, so I've been putting together a new system (ram, case, psu, GPU) and I just received my i5 3570k + Asrock extreme4 mobo. What I'm wondering is if I should just keep my Phenom II x4 965 BE @ 3.8 Ghz and refund my i5 3570k + mobo ($375 value). I'm wondering what kind of performance increase I'd be getting with the new i5, if it's not significant this money could be better spent in the future on intel's 4th gen CPU lineup (or buy the 3570k at a much better price) . Has anyone upgraded from the 965 BE to an i5 3570k (or similar) and can share their experiences? I've searched for benchmarks but I've yet to find a comparison specific to Arma 2 with the two CPUs. My current specs are: CPU: Phenom II 965 BE @ 3.8 Ghz GPU: HD 7870 @ 1050/5000 Mhz RAM: 8GB DDR3 @ 1600 Mhz PSU: CM 650 W 80+ cert. Mobo: MSI 770 c45 Proposed Specs: CPU: i5 3570k Mobo: Asrock Extreme 4 Z77 RAM: Same PSU: Same GPU: Same Think I'll see a big performance increase? Thanks again for your help guys =D

Proof that Standalone will be delayed till 2013?

I really don't understand why everyone is so damn impatient - WE HAVE DAYZ MOD!! - We even have tonne of maps and server variants - just have fun with DayZ MOD now and enjoy your Christmas, when the SA comes out, you'll know it. -
Need to know if my HDD is bottlenecking my system

So are you reporting actual FPS increases in game with the SSD? -
Yup, already did this actually. Gave me about a 5 FPS improvement - I recommend doing this for anyone looking to gain a few FPS.

Hmm so CPU was the issue, this is useful information for me as I'm trying to figure out my bottleneck as well (I'm guess its a little bit of both, but on low settings video card should become less relevant). Looking to get the same CPU, although I havn't seen any naturally clocked to 3.8. Only 3.4 Ghz (unless your referring to the 3.8Ghz turbo Boost). Please clarify - thanks =D -
Woodland can you tell us exactly what settings your using and where you are getting 30 FPS?? If possible could you tell us what your performance is with low/medium graphics settings and only using 1 monitor?? Testing using a Arma 2 benchmark (found under scenarios/singe-player) is probably the most accurate way of sharing/comparing results. My guess is you GPU can handle everything fine but your CPU is bottlenecking your system, keeping you at 30 FPS - which would mean you'd get very similar results with low/med settings and on 1 monitor.

This is pleasantly refreshing - I'm coming from WarZ where if you say ANYTHING negative on their forums you get 1000 fanboys telling you to shut up + reputation down-votes and a 50% chance your thread will be closed by moderators (This happened to me for simply pointing out their ad "buy game play game October" was 1) bad marketing and 2) over a month out of date) Here moderators blatantly agree there's an issue with forums and tell you that the problem has not gone unnoticed - then they chirp the neigh sayers. Beans for you moderator team!

650 Ti will be here after Christmas, followed by a SSD and an i5 3570k + mobo. I'm going to test Arma 2 out extensively, one added module at a time starting with GFX card. Should be interesting and may give other's insight if their planning on upgrading their system.

Could be the HD, although for some reason I think it may be an actual CPU bottleneck. I did some more testing and found that in single player - my GPU usage is 100%, in MP my GPU usage is around 50-60%. I then tried OCing my GPU - no change in FPS for either SP or MP. I then reset GPU to default clock and overclocked my CPU from 3.4 Ghz to 3.8 Ghz and noticed 0 improvement in SP but a whopping 30% increase in FPS during MP (and benchmark #2). I'd be curious to see what performance differences others have gotten after upgrading their systems. I'm starting to debate whether upgrading my CPU is more important (seems people with intel CPUs, specifically i5-2500k are getting much better performance - regardless of GPU). Wish I could just borrow a CPU for a day lol. /edit - new evidence suggests that it may in fact be my CPU creating these FPS issues I'm experiencing http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,687620/ArmA-2-tested-Benchmarks-with-18-CPUs/Reviews/ It's a little outdated, so Arma 2 may have patched this or fixed it somehow but it seems that Phenom IIs specifically are experiencing performance issues.
