I like the idea of more variety. on another note, does anyone have any idea where the magnum spawns? because I didn't see a single one in NWAF immediately after a server reset, so I'm assuming they don't spawn in military areas. BTW, I was meeting a friend at NWAF, not server hopping. I had at NWAF for an hour prior and on that server for 6 hours. -
One could extend the map in a direction that simply leaves the origin of the coordinate plane stationary. So if 0,0 is in the north west corner, extend south and east (more islands? Another landmass?)

I like the idea of giving gas masks much more use. I would much prefer the idea of stronger zombies in this area - much stronger. as if that was ground zero or something. this kind of thing gives late-game survivors something to do instead of sniping new spawns. I love the PvP aspect of this game, and I don't even have a problem with KoS because of the reasoning behind it sometimes - they are a threat, etc. but sniping new spawns from so far away that they simply can't know you exist is underhanded and is a style of gameplay enforced by a lack of late-game objectives.

So I know there are a lot of questions floating around right now, quite a few of which I would like a developer answer to as well. Regardless of this, when someone posts a duplicate topic, often people just bitch about how you're supposed to search the forums for a problem like yours before cluttering the page. While I agree this is a good idea, in practice the forum search software is broken. I often visit linustechtips's forum, and it is based on the exact same forum software. The search issue is a problem there as well. In the news section we often have duplicate topics because the forum doesn't display all the results in the search. So please, understand that it is often very difficult to find out if your topic is not a duplicate if it is not immediately obvious. TL;DR: I know that the forum's search function is broken because I use this forum software on another website, so stop being so condescending to those who don't realize they have posted a duplicate topic.

I don't think I lost my cool over it, I wanted this to be more of a PSA than anything else. Officer just came across as an ass (like most of the forum does) when I was trying to be helpful.

Level of Weaponry Available (Poll)

I love the bolt action WW2 era rifles. So The Mosin would have to stay, but to be honest, I'd prefer if the only scope that fit on it is the current PS02 (?) and no rifle scope. I don't like the idea of more than 2x magnification. At that point you have accuracy with the Mosin at a range other players are harmless and could care less about your existence (>500m) sniping is fine. but sniping at a range where the conflict is pointless is not. I love the Mosin. it's probably my favorite gun in any game right now, or at least is the most fun to use (and that's coming from someone who platinumed the AN-94 in BFBC2 in two weeks. I loved that gun) I guess I should say that I want to see hunting rifles and WW2 era relics around. maybe a few AKs, or a really rare find would be a police SVD. but the absolute majority of the players shouldn't ever expect to find anything more powerful than a hunting rifle. BUT I think it should actually be more likely that the player find a low-powered rifle than it is now. I feel the player breakdown should be something like this: 10% - fresh spawns/axe/hatchet 30% - shotguns (hunting shotguns) 50% - hunting rifles/WW2 relics 10% - lower powered military gear (AK, AN-94, nothing that ranges further than 700m or so) -
the like I gave you is sarcasm, I hope you realized.

Personally id like to see it completely cut down to civvie weapons. Nothing military grade. Also, this means nothing when it comes to tac vests and the like, I can buy those in Wal-Mart. I'm only talking about the guns themselves. I currently have an m4 in game, and i'd actually drop it if I came across a mosin.

I watched pretty much all of frankies videos on Dayz, till I realized he was cheating weapons in (or playing in easy servers) plus I did my research before playing. That's why I joined the forum. My first post wasnt till after I bought standalone.

You can carry one of the two in your hands. Be wary that if you use another item, you drop the gun in your hands.

That was one character wipe. I know people who have lost two or three characters, which means this must be a bug.

I've never had it happen to me, but I have heard about it. Some people claim this is a server hopping deterrent, but in reality my friends and I switch servers four or five times a day to avoid server restarts, crashed servers, and just empty servers (playing somewhere with no chance of human interaction is no fun.) In practice this is a bug, and id like to see it fixed by the time I get back from Chicago and can start playing again.

I don't understand how new people are having so much trouble. It's simple logic. In a game where your value to other people is based on your kit (until you prove otherwise if you play with the same people consistently) you are liable to be killed for said kit if you're stupid. I have never played the mod. I have 33 hours in game. 30 of those are my current character. I quickly picked up on the need to leave the beach, and knew I could rely on nobody heading towards nwaf from the north, so I passed out and doubled back. I intercepted a group of three people, all armed to the teeth with m4s. My mosin and I put down each one as necessary. I was lucky in that one of them had the sound bug, which resulted in my knowing they were going back to cherno to hunt fresh spawns. I shot them. KoS is not cool on fresh spawns. But I will shoot you without hesitation if you have military grade gear and you just want to be a dick with it. Tl;Dr: this game isn't hard. Just learn how to use your head. There are those who use their experience to put down fresh spawns, and I shoot them.

Is it possible to carry both the M4 and the Mosin?

I like the only having one gun available. I just wish I had a mosin, because I'm not feeling this m4. (I'd be up to trade a fully kitted m4 for a mosin+scope. I have a suppressor, a red-dot, a bipod, and a tack light on the m4. I'd give you all my m4 ammo with it, as I wouldn't be needing it. that's 2 full 60 round clips, and two 40 round clips, and three 30 round clips. I have all the mosin ammo I need but, if you have any you don't want I'd take it off your hands. I'm in grishino right now and am only gonna be online for another hour. pm me here if interested.) -

I love the idea of a complicated system until we start considering blood types. finding the correct blood type to give a transfusion is wayyyy too difficult, especially because finding someone who's willing to donate is generally really hard. or impossible, if you're lone wolfing. I understand this is to drive people to play cooperatively, but if everyone's just one big family, what are you supposed to do? and the idea that this is to stop KoS is horseshit. -
Spawning with no missing gear?

when you say logged out, do you mean you exited the server? or did you just hide in the bush? -
you understand that fixing this requires double rendering of the scene? you're asking them to do the one thing that impacts performance the most. by correctly doing scope magnification, you force the game engine to render two scenes, and show you both. this is incredibly taxing on the GPU, and leads to horrible frame drops. A number of game devs (including a DICE dev) have expressed interest in correctly showing scopes, but they also admit that it practically ruins the ability for the game to run on lower hardware. another problem is that it increases latency. this is because the computer has to take the time to combine the two scenes that it rendered for the frame before the frame can be sent to post processing. last but not least, combining a large frame drop with increased latency creates a drastically different feel when aiming down sights, making it harder to aim. This results in a worse user experience. This is why devs haven't implemented it. it's harder to render (thereby lessening the number of people that CAN run it) and makes it more difficult on the user. Red Orchestra is known for frame drops even on console, and as a result isn't highly regarded for it's "playability" Also, gonna add to the end here, you sound pretty damn arrogant in your above post.

and before you talk about items respawning, remember that respawns happen only at server restarts. which occur every four hours. So if the server didn't restart during the time you spent in cherno, then you cherno was already picked clean.

your problem is hanging around where loot has been picked clean. on topic, I feel as if there were more civilian weapons (like the mosin or the shotgun that's not in-game yet) and the military spawns more rare, people wouldn't complain about having trouble getting fully kitted, because a mosin with some ammo is still enough to pose a reasonable threat... but a fully kitted military-grade player should have to work for his kit.

I had 10 hours of playtime with no interaction. I had a spawn well away from cherno or electro, and I knew NOT to go there (or balota) so I went to komarovo and kamenka to loot before heading north to the new military base and then all the way to NWAF. so I go the whole way to NWAF. it takes about 5 hours. I see one guy running around on the airstrip, but it's NWAF, I don't talk to them. it's shoot on sight if they have a firearm and watch them if they don't... because they can easily get one while you're there. I find a nice Acog and about 90 rounds for my m4, and then I head back down to Komarovo because a friend just spawned there, but had to go get some work done... I get down there, this one guy, who has nothing but a baseball bat, is running straight for the woods with nothing (it must have been nothing, no backpack) I hail him down, give him one of my three bags of rice and one of my two canteens, telling him "it's easy to die out here. don't let it be to starvation or thirst." then I meet up with my friend, we go back to the mil base to get him kitted, and the server crashes. we find a new one, and I'm floating in midair, unconscious. he takes all my stuff and hikes back to kamenka where I spawn. right before he gives me my kit, he gets attacked by an axe-man. he turns around and gives him some bullets.

I believe you're thinking of the AK-12. it looks similar to m4 variants because it uses a standard rail mounting system. -
I love the new blood. less KoSing. I just wish there were more damn servers.
