Group of 4 heavily armed guys Executing new players along the coast
sav112g replied to Fynnious's topic in New Player Discussion
I kid you not on one stream I had on last night there was a group of about twenty guys all working as a group and thats no lie as at one point they counted. I execpt you will see groups all the time in this, the fun will be when these groups meet. But its showing a bit more class as a player/group by letting new spawns live. -
You can forgive them if they thought they had fixed it after all it’s over the holidays and no matter what they have the excuse it is indeed called an Alpha for a massive reason. It’s the big pink Elephant in the room and yes everyone has the right to use that and its not going to go away anytime soon, people need to smarten up and accept it. I have a few friends that can’t wait to buy the game but later on when they have added so much and polished and fixed the many bugs that were expected in a game as massive in scope as this. I expect the team to come back and go into overdrive, expect patches with major improvements over just quick fixes not given much testing over the holiday period. Did the team even expect it to be the massive success it currently is being the hottest ticket in town even in this early Alpha. They even asked fans not to buy it although I think we can all understand that was just smart marketing. Really enjoying that this is going to be the success we all knew with the backing its getting, every $ in the bank in sales is like a hammer blow to those who would have liked this to fail. I’m actually surprised how stable it is watching streams with some players playing many hours without anything major.
-
I’m not able to even play the game yet but loving all the doubters getting it shoved right back in their faces. A patch over the Holiday period is nothing short of outstanding and everyone knows it, especially for an Alpha!!!!
-
Yes there is the point of denying who ever shot you your loot but your also denying your chance to get it back. After all if they take your best stuff its still in game and if you find them and get the upper hand you could get it all back. Plus some need to realise playing in groups if you disappear your not the bait left for your friends to kill anyone looting you. It’s a minor annoyance that will get fixed within weeks.

Why do people think there would be more civilian weapons than military?
sav112g replied to captainvette2112's topic in General Discussion
Has there ever been a proper background story to the Mod or SA. Something to explain the currant situation? Did the infection start in the area drawing in Military and civilian medial units. It could be the case the Map area was one of the few last stand safer zones that has finally fallen and the infection/disease has burned itself out. The Team could Wright any background to fit equipment expected to be found. I know it is early SA and I know some hate them but I really miss the excitement of an air unit passing overhead in the streams I watch. I hope Helicopters are brought in even if they are super rare and hard to maintain. -
See I’m with you on this! It’s more interesting interacting on occasions rather than kill. It’s actually very skilful to control the situation enough to build up a bond with someone. Interesting to see how far you can take it, some will faithfully help you and play with you but other will just drop you. Even if l group strip a player, let him leave with some water and food and make your game more interesting. I appreciate the mind set better safe than sorry but it gets a bit boring after a while.

DayZ is FailZ (Lacklustre Infected comment)
sav112g replied to Spidey (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I feel guilty as well as I skipped the main post and read the second to decide it was a waste of time reading it all. My experience with Dayz is only watching streams on twitch but I’ve watched enough hours of the guys streaming to realise yes there is a long way to go but it’s a very solid foundation that is able to be enjoyed. It will only get better and better so its not a fail it’s a Win, Win and we all know it. -
I think most are just enjoying that the Team got the SA out as promised. The game looks a lot of fun even as early as this. If I had a machine able to run it I’d grab it at the low price instead of just watching the Pro gamers play it on Twitch. Lots of Bug’s and lots of Work still to be done but hay its an Alpha…..roll on it getting better and better as the Comunity deserves it. All I’m seeing is suspicious low count post members spring up that are posting negative stuff when they have missed much of the discussion and journey most have been on in here. Not to disrespect members with 2 post counts etc but it’s hard not too.

Yeah players would gear up for it, you cant surprise a players going from Summer to winter. Plus if it was a global server thing it would keep the game interesting. Less roaming more survival. Water frozen would mean either you melt snow and hope its free from contaminates or make sure you have a stock pile. Thing is you can recreate what a real life disaster is as it just would not make good game play. You cant have players stuck in a tower for hours and hours. I'd love it but I dont think many would.
-
Would Zombies freeze stiff :) On a lesser scale I’d love weather to be more dynamic. I’ve seen Rain watching Twich in the mod and it was a great tension builder when it starts. Bring in Morning Fog, Rainstorms with lightning. Foot prints would disappear over time but for a time could be lethal to leave behind. It would be interesting being in one of those tower blocks in Winter and seeing smoke or a few fires in other blocks.
-
It sure would increase the skill needed to survive. Buildings for shelter, fire needed as well as more food burning calories to keep warm. Drying your clothing as well. If you could add foot prints then it could get scary!!!!!

Life Clock! I know this could be used for trolling bragging rights but getting over that kiddie scenario I’d really like to see a life Clock in the Game. What do I mean! Hours alive active actually online playing. I think it would bring in a new level of connection to your character. You would not even have to make the clock public but just nice to know. After all it’s a survivor game first rather than a Blood bath shooter. I’d really like to load up this and before the game starts see some stats. Even when I get killed I’d love to know some facts about the killer and how long He/She has been alive too. Hours Alive Miles Travelled Zombie Kills Human kills Human assistance (when you blood bag a player or bandage etc.)
-
So the game does have the ability to track such things. Sorry never played the game so did not know you could see that in the Mod.
-
Absolutely agree with non leader board. Just for your own record. I think to use it as a benchmark although I know it depends on luck and who and how many are on the servers. After all you know if you’ve played the game right and if it’s not a published stat then why would you farm it on an empty server. “ Right I was alive five hours, travelled six miles and shot fifteen Zombies and killed three Human players, I can better that” I was killed by Booniebandit who has survived on average seven hours per life in game.

Nice to know that they worked right up to Christmas as suggested. Obviously they decided it was not ready or wanted to add something more in the patch and wanting to make it better. SA Released before the end of the Year and patched twice and by going from what I can see on Twich plenty of streamers are enjoying the game even in this basic form. Its actually mouth watering when so much is still to be added and fixed. Could be Game of 2014. I guess the more people getting in early and getting the game for that great price is showing how popular the game is and will aid the development.
-
People work hard and deserve time off with family and friends in the real world especially if they have been working longer hours in the run up to holidays. If you expect a Games studio to be working over Christmas your obviously not the brightest.
-
Got to love it, lets be grateful that you guys are playing the SA and its been patched a few times before the Holidays. I'd have hated to have come on here if Dean had missed bringing out the Alpha.... Anyone complaining about a missing patch is obviously extremely sad. Give the team some Holiday time and rest to recharge their batteries. I can only imagine there were a few late nights so everyone had a SA version to play over Christmas. Granted kid’s are on here and could be firing out these “ Where is the next patch” posts and acting their age. Merry Christmas!

Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]
sav112g replied to Blade4777980's topic in General Discussion
Even I’m considering buying it and I can’t play it on my Nov 2004 build PC while its cheap. New PC next March for Elite Dangerous and looking forward to this as well. It’s good to back the game that will just gather pace over the next few months. You’d have to be thick not to understand and see the potential of the implemented parts. Roll on next year and DAYZ SA. -
Yeah only watching streams on twich but it does kill the excitment after the fight and feels just wrong! Hope they can get that fix in for you lot!

Security Vulnerabilities fixed by Patch #2 and Character wipe
sav112g replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Watching a stream and the guy took shots and returned fire to find the player had vanished. Both players were at the same building at different ends. So the streamer expecting a fight goes round to find no one and obviously the guy had logged out. The guy logged out returns after a few minutes and kills the streamer! Can this not be fixed I thought we had gone beyond this kind of stuff. Can you not restrict players from servers they have just left for 30 minutes if there has been combat! Never having played the game I want it to be fair by the time I do. Love how they are patching all the same as I thought when the SA dropped it would be “See you next year” but its not and credit to the team for that. -
Cheers! lads why do games cost more on steam over the boxed version in the shops? That does not make sense. For example FM2014 is £19 in Game Uk shop £34 in steam!!!! ARMA III I bought for a gift for my friends kid is £39 I got it for £34 boxed.
-
Right so lads. I dont have a PC till March able to play this game and being old school have never bought a game off Steam. If I buy this just to back the game and get it at this great price then I take it this steam account keeps the purchase and I dont have to download anything till I want to???
-
So I’m right in thinking once you clear out a Town or Village the Zombies cant magically spawn back till the area is empty of Human players????? But Zombies can roam in still. If that’s the case fantastic. Watching Deans stream and those tower blocks, I take it these are Empty shells without loot till somebody enters them for the first time or that’s some waste of resources on the server. Surly there is some formula to populate with loot when the need arises. I understand when you do populate then that’s it till the server restart as it should be. If your in first you should get first chance and anyone after will get your leftovers.
-
Very true, with people having put in their hard earned it brings it up a level but I’d hate to think just because no money is involved there would be less professionalism or responsibility here. I cant play the SA for months but I feel for everyone waiting. I would love you lot to be surprised before Christmas as its deserved, but sadly I think the reality is this will come out next year. I would hope the staff would be big enough if they did in fact know already that this was the case to tell the community. If they think it builds excitement or more interest I think they are wrong. Be open and everyone will be happy. Interesting read about the testing, that’s how I don’t want anything to do with the game till its robust and working to a good level. Being frustrated in a game I’ve never played just would not be fun. But for everyone that does get to test it I wish them luck and hope they view it as a chance to help make the game better.

One of the developers I think Rocket could take a great deal from is David who invented the sand box game with Elite, Frontier the Company have been professional with organised news letter and realistic target dates that they actually have fulfilled today with the release of their Alpha. (Elite Dangerous) It’s a massive step for them but they have never ducked questions and always made sure the fans and people like myself who backed the game on KS have been well informed. David has taken time out to answer questions time and time again and Dev Diary’s have been well thought out and always gave the impression of solid progression. It has built trust over the peace that only Dean could dream off.
