I know when the standalone will release. The 16th of November. Why you may ask? Well that is my wedding day and rocket will release it as a wedding present. This is however a double edged gift as I will have a copy of the standalone....but will not be able to play for a number of weeks! Damn you rocket!

None taken! In all honesty after thinking about it and doing some more googling it doesn't really add up. All I could find was some NASCAR final lap stuff around that date but meh. Hope this Final Lap/Sprint doesn't take too long to complete.

No need for that. I explained myself, and surely a correlation between someone taking a break from reddit/forums/life (which may include working life?) and going off for the final lap, isn't face palm worthy. Lol it may seem like it but no. I googled The Final Lap when I first saw that quote and there was a racing event under that title that was happening around the same time. May have been coincidence however. Edit: After all that I can't refind what I found in the first palce. I would love to be wrong though.

If you are talking about the "Final Lap" quote then again I am pretty sure the final lap is in reference to cars/car racing/racing and not to do with the standalone. But you may be referring to another quote. :)

My personal opinion is that it doesn't break immersion. i did state the two sides of the argument. So my point is valid in saying that they can be left in.

It just seems to me that the decision to remove the cans was too hasty. We have one side saying it breaks immersion and another side saying it doesn't. I have stated previously that Dayz has a lot more "Immersion breaking" mecahnics, features etc and if some cans of food and drink destroys your enjoyment of a game...well I think even for a game such as this you are taking it too seriously. Poll time!!

Don't get me started on immersion! The fact you can run for ever without stopping or getting tired, that you know immediately how to use every piece of equipment or vehicle or tool that you come across, that morphine fixes broken legs, that you don't need sleep... come on... If it is that much of a problem don't look at the label, just think of it as food. On a side note I bet if you googled "weird canned food names" you would come up with "real life" cans with very strange names.

You will probably find that the people who don't like something will be more vocal than those who do. I wasn't going to comment on the food and drink names specifically but because of this thread I have to say that I thought it was fine and a good way to show support! There is no need to remove them. If you think it is such an immersion breaker perhaps you should go immerse yourself in real life for a while.

Well I know that sometimes your character can get stuck in free look mode by double pressing alt. So perhaps that was stuck on and the reason you could not turn. Items are easy to pick up you just need to look at them and scroll your mouse wheel. Or press G if the icon comes up. A lot of buildings aren't enterable (Will be fixed in the Standalone) a tip is if you can see the interior of the building through the windows you can enter them. Ladders can be hard to "use sometimes" especially once you are on a roof etc. You just need to get close to where it is and move your mouse around until you find it. You should be able to look down your sites by pressing thr right mouse button. If this doesn't work try switching weapons to fix the issue. Please note this is still an alpha.

It should be something is amiss. Meaning there is something up. If someone were to say something is amidst I would take it to be an incomplete sentence as it is inferring that something is in the middle. I suppose it could be construed as "something is amongst us"

You could go here http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri and click on ARMA II to see if your system can run it (requires a small download I believe) And you may be able to copy and apste the results and it might shows us your specs. Note that ARMAII has lower requirements than DayZ though

Or has the improvement in technology made it obsolete?I remember going to a few 10 odd years ago. Loved them! I still go around to a friends place now and then (this Friday) and take my computer. Games just seem so much better when you have a friend next to you. Fun factor increases dramatically with a few beers too! Ahh i miss LAN parties.

What are some good Killing floor Mods? Agreed though that most games are 10 times better being in the same room as your mates.

I have joined a whitelist server and have had no problems with hackers in the past month or so. Not one Hacker encounter so it may come down to luck of finding a good white listed server. It also has great admins and have never had a problem with any of them, so they are out there maybe you just didn't look for long enough? For everything else I'd probably just say your answer is the Standalone. There will be numerous improvements including performance, although they say the improvements may be nullified by adding extra features and what not.

The first time I saw a hostile player I was in Stary. He popped up out of a bush and I sort of just froze. Don't know why lol I just stared at him for a couple of seconds and then he shot me.

A friend and i will be having a LAN on Friday and DayZ will most likely be played a fair bit. Is there any risk of being banned due to IP problems or anything?
