    DayZ Standalone Discussion

you are all already playing an awesome, not to mention FREE massively multiplayer shooter, in the form of this mod. the mind boggles..
  2. this has bags of potential. especially for luring people into traps with promises of medical aid and food etc.

    Introduce yourselves

evening all, im lee. or fallon, in-game. im from london, UK. i play on fogeyz server with the old farts :) still very new to the game, but having a wicked time so far!
  5. thats a man after my own heart, right there.
  6. actually just the other day, at NW airfield. i'd just logged in at the control tower, first thing to do was run upstairs and scope the strip for signs of zombies or banditry. couple of undead milling about, nothing unusual. then someone comes sprinting from benind the barracks across the strip towards the tower. i didn't have time to decide if he'd seen me or not, so rather than hide and wait for him i pegged it down the stairs and almost ran straight into him. i guess i panicked, and unloaded in his face. he definetely either shot first or had time to shoot back, as i then hit the deck, bleeding with a broken leg. luckily i had enough meds to heal up. one of those han/greebo situations where i'll always be wondering if he shot first, or returned fire.

    What made you a bandit?

true that. a man can only take so much before falling to the dark side. im still considering it now.

What was your motive to come to DayZ?

i heard it was a perma-death survival horror MMO.

    Learning Curve...

try not to lose heart when you break your legs while crawling prone through a door, or when logging in too close to a tree.
  10. when i first started it took days before i even saw another player, so when i did i jumped at the chance for a team-mate. needless to say i was shot in the face at point blank range (i was unarmed..) and despite the bandit's advice in side-chat to "never shout 'friendly' dude.." i persisted and persisted hoping one day my faith in humanity would be restored. it never was.. now i shoot anyone who isn't on teamspeak with me, unarmed or not. chances are i'll die by my own means within a day anyways.

    Side Chat Idiots

side chat is a useful tool for bluffing and setting up ambushes. though it usually ends in two parties second and third-guessing each other to the point where nobody has the upper hand any more.

How to get the bandit skin

the game mechanics allow this kind of behaviour. i don't think this makes him a dick.
  13. i'd only ever feel guilty if i shot a team-mate by accident. other than that, kill or be killed is the general nature of the game, nobody expects to live forever. its supposed to be unforgiving. shouting "friendly! don't shoot.." in direct comms usually gets you shot, and robbed.
