Ok, I found this post on the BIS forum http://forums.bistud...ncement!/page80 From what has been described by Dean so far, DayZ will not be using ArmA 3's engine. Rather it will be using ArmA 2's with some improvements (Ragdoll, lighting etc). But it won't be the full-bull ArmA 3 engine (DX11 etc). AFAIK. I'm looking forward to any news on the alpha from Gamescom. Surely it's not too far off.... answer by BIS guy Vespa: This is pretty accurate. Simultaneously developing the engine and two different projects at the same time would be insane. So no DX11 for stand alone.

Matt says Arma2 engine, he calls it 2.5. I bet that means no dx11 lightning, no physx.

I'm a bit confused, I thought I read standalone will run on Arma3 engine. Watching this interview with Matt Lightfoot, he's saying it'll run on the Arma2 engne. Bah, that sucks. :(

Making an autorun buttong for logitech G keyboards

I'm using g keys on g15 v2 keyboard to autorun too. Works like a charm. If you don't have such a keyboard, you can also use an analogue axis. I've mapped forward in arma2 controls to the slider on my x52 pro throttle. the advantage to using an analogue axis is you can select speed, plus your character will keep running even if you alt tab to desktop. g keys on keyboard stop running when you alt tab. -
Let's get rid of starting backpack in the next patch. It will make it more interesting when you find your first backpack. Come on, Rocket. :)

Awesome news, go BIS and Rocket! Can't wait to hear if Arma2 or Arma3 engine will be used. I'll be disappointed if Arma2 engine, we want new and better pretty graphics! -
fyi, lotc servers have sidechat, so does de21. i'm surprised there still aren't more with it enabled. clearly a lot of people are requesting it.

I have a fracture but the respawn button is still greyed out. Also my character who died yesterday is alive today with the gear I had just before I died.
