What if hypothetically, some other company or independant developer produces a zombie game like DayZ, along with the same feature like persistent gameplay And let's say for the sake of argument, that it is better than Dayz, better fps, bigger maps, server performance, yadda yadda... Would you play it?

yes, i can't find any good info about it, but from what the maker said, it sounds promising. he's enthusiastic, ambitious and wants to go against the grain, kinda reminds me of Rocket. I hope it will be great. -

though your post was very whiney, you do come up with a good and very true point. going to groups does become a weakness. in DayZ, safety in numbers really does not apply when the enemy would still take you head on with abandonment. -
wouldn't be "realistic" without it. especially when everyone in the forum keep harping on about realism. personally, i would love rape in game, along with children survivors/ zombies, and torture. i would like to see just how far a game like that would go, not much i suppose

Yes' date=' it's called "giving away your position to his buddies".Me and my partner ambushed three guys chilling in a field. I downed two, third put a bullet in me and i couldn't see stuff. Then a fourth came up from a flank and shot us both. 1) they were not careful enough and thus i managed to kill 2; 2) we didn't see the fourth guy and he flanked us. This is pretty much how it works IRL. I still haven't surpassed the gear i had after two days. You think it's easy to shoot people because you always end up on the receiving end and therefore think the universe is somehow unfair to you when, in fact, you are just bad at the game. Man up. Let the negreps flow. [/quote'] not strong enough of a consequence, especially for those that don't care if they die or not. something that will make people wonder if the person they are going to murder is worth it, rocket said that he will implement some sort consequence for killing, but not penalties. i hope it's good -

there should not be any mechanic that prevents or at all penalize anyone for player killing sprees. that goes against the spirit of the mod. however there really ought to be a mechanic that makes people think twice before taking a life. as it is already, weapons and ammunition is very wide spread and easy to find, heck you start out with a pistol and a decent amount of mags. when some sort of melee weapon is implemented i suggest players starting without a fire arm, this makes them put in more time to finding one, time= value to one's life place that with global chat removal, this will really hamper people who just spawn, frag then die. rinse and repeat -

it's sad really, how community is doing in the mod deathmatching is a problem, but only a problem down in the coasts. people don't want to waste time going to the northern wilderness to find an easy kill, when people spawning in will do. -

1, 2. no, part of the challenge to make it by yourself, consider it, a right of passage, if you can make it to the rendezvou point, then you can make it else where. 3. sure why not, if the engine can 4, 5, 6, 7 are gliches and engine limitation, not suggestions 8. no, part of the challenge is to find your bearings and your way, besides not like there are maps online which people can cheat off of anyway you trying to make the game easy? -

isn't the point of this experiment to create and promote unique experiences through the tensions of social interactions and difficult situations? people running up and down the coast, shooting people without concern of their own lives isn't unique, nor is it fun. many times i hear that the main objective of this mod was to survive, we know that's not very true, with zombies being a mere nuisance and players kamikazi-ing into battle. -
my friends joke that this mod is not a zombie game at all, just a normal shoot'em up game. the zombies are just annoyances

wow, everyone is so optimistic about this, journal feature. there are some drawbacks to this though. 1) no one is ever going to stop and read what is in anybody's journal, they only want to take your beans. 2)people will focus more on trying to survive/loot than take the actual time to write in such a journal 3) though people may try to use it, the fact that they will die, over and over again will make the novelty wear off. 4)i'm concerned this may be too "forgiving"? for lack or a better word, i believe no one should ever have any connection to their past lives. death should mean utter oblivian. 5) that's what forums are for right? shouldn't you just write down your experiences there? achieves the same end result. it will just ultimately be a useless feature that no one would ever use, when focus on development could be else where.
