So if you live in an unforunate timezone, you never get to see daylight in-game?

THE DAYZ WISH LIST (From the Community to the Devs)
Dark Link replied to Aussie Bogan's topic in General Discussion
Good, working zombies is all I want right now. No more phasing through walls, and make them an actual threat. -
Well, while there are some real-life things that DayZ definitely doesn't need, I mostly agree.

While everything the OP says is true, I don't think that that's the kind of player people are generally complaining about. The type of KOSer that people complain about the most are guys who will kill try to kill ANYONE they see, no matter what. Even if it's just a new spawn, even if they're running in the opposite direction, or even if they just found him unconcious, treated his wounds, gave him blood, and killed the guy that tried to kill him. No matter what, if they're a player that's not him, they must die. And honestly, I can absolutely see why people complain about this kind of player.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to suggest something like this. This has been bothering me since the mod, but in the standalone it has a better chance of getting fixed. Basically, I'm bothered by the fact that DayZ runs on a realistic 24-hour cycle, but our characters seem to need a full meal every half hour. This strangeness can be solved by either slowing down the rate at which players get hungry or decreasing the 24-hour clock to something less realistic. Personally, I prefer the first solution. The first solution would mean we would have to eat less often. This could be balanced by making food somewhat more rare. Not so rare that it's extremely difficult to find, but rare enough that it's treasured, as food likely would be in a zombie apocalypse. And while I prefer the first suggestion, speeding up the in-game clock could also work, and have some other benefits. I've heard many people complain that they only have the free time to play DayZ at night, so they're always in the dark in-game. if the clock was reduced to, for example, eight hours (four hours of day, four hours of night), this would help solve that issue. A faster clock might also result in fewer 24/7 daylight servers, as they would be less necessary with shorter nights.

In post-Soviet Chernarus, bicycle rides you!

I feel like having less of everything wouldn't really be interesting. Instead of having fewer guns and ammo, I would prefer having about the same amount of guns as we do now, but have ammo be much more scarce, especially for more powerful weapons. Similarly, I would want vehicles to be more common than they are now, but have fuel be slightly rarer.

Alright, how about this: Backpack access is still open, but... 1. A backpack can only be accessed from directly behind the person wearing it. 2. Both the person taking from the backpack and the person wearing the backpack must be standing perfectly still. 3. An easily noticable "unzipping" sound is played when a backpack is opened. 4. An easily noticable sound is played when something is taken out of a backpack. 5. An easily noticable animation is played when someone takes something out of a backpack. This way, you either have to be very well distracted or completely oblivious in order for someone to successfully take something out of your bag without you noticing, and it solves the issue without sacrificing any realism. Also, perhaps some sort of padlock item could be added so that you can lock your bag. However, it should not be locked by default and your bag should only be locked while you're alive and concious.
-
I disagree, and here's why: While it is unrealistic to have you not notice them taking stuff out of your bag, it's even more unrealistic for the bag to be completely locked down to anyone but yourself. I think it would be much better if there was simply a distinctive sound whenever something is taken out of a backpack. If you hear that sound right in your ears, something has probably been taken from you. Honestly, all I see this doing is taking away from realism and possibly causing more murder - if someone can't pickpocket from you, maybe they'll just switch over to plain ol' killing for loot. EDIT: On the points about it being unrealistic for someone to take a weapon out of your bag: What is more unrealistic? Someone taking a .50 calibre sniper rifle out of your bag, or you fitting a .50 calibre sniper rifle in to your bag in the first place?
-
A rare tranquilizer rifle would also be good, along with a way to restrain players while they're unconcious. It would certainly make bandits more interesting if they didn't always kill you.
-
I'm in the camp that believes that too much (or rather, certain aspects of) realism can be a bad thing. However, I don't believe that the crosshair really adds anything worth keeping to the game.

I support this suggestion, but don't have much else to say about it than that.

Rocket, Please don't. (Dayz on Console).
Dark Link replied to alcatraz968's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree for the current generation of consoles. At the very least, they should wait until console hardware isn't as extremely outdated as it currently is. My worst-case scenario is that Micro$oft buys off Bohemia to work on a 360 version as soon as possible, and we get a crappy console port. If they really insist on putting DayZ on the 360 (which I don't see working well at all), hopefully they will finish and flesh out the PC version, then port it to consoles. -
I've thought about the same kind of thing, and I would also like to see something like this. Even if they're just one-room fallout shelters, it would still be cool.

Would DayZ exist without The Walking Dead?
Dark Link replied to Nefarious (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Aside from the fact that I disagree with Call of Duty having anything to do with DayZ or any of the rest of the zombie craze, World at War had Nazi Zombies before Black Ops did.
