While I agree with Vanilla that hacking/cheating/duping needs to be dealt with, a character reset is not the way to go about it. Why not? Simply for the reason that a reset is a band-aid, treat the symptom rather than the root problem sort of solution. The devs need to take a look at any and all data pertaining to duping, and implement a fix that prevents duping from occurring. Additionally, we as a community need to point out cases (proven or suspected) of duping to Rocket and team, and let them deal with the individuals involved. To answer your initial question - would people bother to dupe if they knew their gear was going to vanish in a month (apologies if I'm just repeating here)? Absolutely. The dupers would simply refine their process in order to speed it up even more. It's a sad but true scenario. Additionally, a mandatory reset puts a cap on what I, as a player, can set my sights on. There's only so much of a challenge I can put to myself in terms of survival time because regardless of what I do I'll just be reset. I've got some pretty decent strategies as it stands for survival (many from the community here) and I only tend to die when I deviate from the rules I've set for myself. I realize my response is likely tl;dr so to recap: Fix the duping/hacking - Yes. Punish honest players with a fixed reset - No.
