    Low FPS! Please help!

as long as you dont think a new pc will greatly improve the way the game runs, because you will be extremely disappointed. as far as i know the only people that have reasonable, and i mean reasonable not good, performance are those with modern cpu's that are overclocked.
  2. thats a pretty good question, i didnt realise Arma 3 alpha was coming so soon, but if arma 3 fixes the problem with multiplayer CPU/GPU performance and dayz SA doesnt because its on the old engine i might give dayz SA a miss.

    The Notorious Can Incident

very true, but it is also true that the more popular a given thing becomes the more people will feel the need to comment, you will always have these schisms its human nature it seems, people become invested and believe only they know what true purity is. i hope those involved can see that it isnt really about them, its stupid humans. p.s. i can just see the headlines, dean hall developer of the popular game dayz is advocate for the seal clubbing industry. ;) p.p.s. im going to be shameless and say, please please can you use your influence to get BIS to fix multiplayer in the arma 2 engine, everyones CPU is running at 50% capacity and their GPU at 30%, you have the power! (sorry) :P

    DayZ Mod 1.7.6.1 Hotfix

im sorry? i dont have a account on reddit, i had absolutely no clue about the "bean can issue", i checked a thread about the new hotfix to see what it was fixing, and saw the post. now its a simple fact of life that if someone realises they are wrong and says so publicly, says sorry, it is a good thing. i also suggest you work on your insults, they are not very impressive at all, now if i wanted to insult you over what you said to me i would say something like: have you had a look at the warz forum lately, i think you would feel at home there. :) or considering where you are from maybe before you insult me you should keep in mind that im paying for the fact that you didnt pay any taxes. :) i hope this makes you realise it is not a good idea to insult people based upon where you think they are from or where you think they should go. ;) back on topic, for the short time i played the patch the experience was smooth and i didnt notice anything game breaking.

How much FPS would Dayz get me?

well your graphics card seems to be most of the budget the OP says he has for the whole upgrade unless im reading it wrong, and at that price i would hope it runs dayz at decent FPS. compared to the in game benchmarks multiplayer drops my FPS by about 50%, i use a i5@3.0GHZ and a 650TI but im not playing at 1080p.
  8. i thought by sticking my tongue out people would realise that part of my comment wasnt that serious, i meant that he shouldnt worry to much about dying when getting used to the game, it happens, for all kinds of odd reasons. i havent had any bad experiences in dayz, interesting ones, frustrating ones, but not bad. :)

How much FPS would Dayz get me?

im not sure those benchmarks mean anything, they are probably right for single player but i doubt that test included multiplayer. if you run msi afterburner and HWiNFO64 (both free), enable the on screen display for cpu and gpu and then start up dayz you are going to be in for a surprise, i have a gtx650TI and only run at 1650x1080, i get poor FPS and my CPU and GPU are running at 50% and 30% capacity. see: http://dayzmod.com/f...th-poor-mp-fps/
  10. you are going to end up dead in the forest anyway, trust me :P there are quite a few video's on youtube that will help you in your quest to survive

    GPU or CPU

i would strongly suggest downloading MSI afterburner and HWiNFO64, enabling the overlay so you see your GPU and CPU utilisation in the game before you purchase anything.
  12. well, BIS seems to be a "oldschool" developer in that they update their products and encourage modding, it can make sense for a business to support its customers, a good reputation is valuable, many people bought a old game purely for the multiplayer experience, i dont think it is asking that much. this has already been taken up on the BIS forum in the past, and from what i undestand the basically the same engine is going to be used for standalone, many people purchased bis products for one reason only to play this mod. rocket now works for BIS, i think his game is now going to be a important product for BIS in the future, i think this is a excellent place to raise this issue :)
  13. "we" all know there are 100's of threads about tweaking arma to get decent performance online, the same is true of the BIS forum, and the bug tracker at devheaven. i am one of the 1000's (if not many more) who in the last year paid money for arma II purely for the multiplayer experience, to play dayz (and recently wasteland). there are many people who upgraded their PC in the hope of improving performance, as i did, there are many who tried every tweak there is to improve performance, as i did. after upgrading and tweaking i was shocked to find out that my CPU and GPU were running far below maximum. in multiplayer games/modes based on arma my CPU load is around 50% and my GPU around 30%. BIS is aware of these issues but say that they cant or wont fix this, as can be seen on the bugtracker at devheaven: https://dev-heaven.net/issues/6963 https://dev-heaven.net/issues/59932 now i know some people will say that its a old game, i should not complain, but BIS is still selling this product, they have sold a lot of units in the last year based purely on the multiplayer experience, together with rocket they are now developing dayz SA based on a version of this engine, considering this i dont think its too much to ask for them to use some of those resources to fix this issue for the good of all, dayz SA, dayz the mod, and for all the other cool mods and missions that are still hugely popular. i know that rocket has said that some improvements have been made for dayz SA, since i am not a developer i have no idea of those improvements have anything to do with this issue that BIS wouldnt fix in the past, but if they are i would like to appeal to rocket to make these improvements available to vanilla arma II OA, if they are not i would like to appeal to rocket to have BIS allocate time to properly look at this issue. there is still one open issue/bug on devheaven that has not been closed/rejected that is related to this problem, but it hasnt been assigned and its priority is set to normal, it was started in 2011 and was last updated 7 months ago, which i find disappointing for such a massive lack of performance. https://dev-heaven.net/issues/26297 maybe if people here that purchased arma II in the last year and have similar issues could add their experiences something can be done about this. i expect to be criticized by some fans for posting this, but i hope people understand that i too love this game/engine, and i hope that if you read this and have similar issuess that you spare the time to at least post a quick message saying that you agree this should be fixed. :)

    Is DayZ Popularity declining?

i dont get it, this game is hugely popular, you are arguing in the same way some economists do, expecting constant growth, or even a constant increase in the rate of growth. dayz had a huge rise in popularity in 2012, there are natural limits to how popular a game can become? if SA even manages to hold on to the popularity of the mod then i imagine it will be seen as a huge success,

    Peripheral dots.

im not a developer of pvp games so maybe im not the right person to ask that question? :P i assume you have played other pvp games in the past? most dont claim to be mil-sims, most are played on tiny maps, some have mini-maps that show a lot of information. all i know is that the developers of arma chose this method for a reason as they stated in the manual. please note that i havent personally defended the need for peripheral dots up to now, i can understand/see that sometimes they are too obvious, but i also think that they are there for a reason and taking them out should not be done lightly.
