More server power?
urbanfox replied to mattiaspetersen@yahoo.dk's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Ahhh, a Kentsfield. That's based on the Intel Core architecture. Basically, consider it an Intel Core 2 Quad (like a QX6600). Now, based off what I have read on this forum, it should have NO problem hosting a server. In fact, my guess is it could do two, but thee might be pushing it. Best of luck sir! -
More server power?

It depends, do you have a model for the Xeon? At 2.4 GHz is could be an old Prestonia Xeon or even a brand new Sandy Bridge-E Xeon. -
More server power?

That's a quad core Sandy Bridge CPU there. Should be completely fine, extremely powerful. -

Well, it hasn't been 24 hours since server launched, but I am VERY happy. How can you beat the price? No lag, server is very powerful, and I am one very happy customer. Thank you HFB! -
Is this guy trying to log into server control on my server?
urbanfox replied to chrispowdrill@yahoo.co.uk's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Could be anything. If you try to go to server control now it gives you that error, whether it's keyboard shortcut or through the map. -
I believe we do not have the ability to change this. I heard it was set @ 500, but my best guess is it's actually around 700-900. The idea is that it creates an even playing field for people, regardless of their computer's hardware. Besides performance issues, it helps people not get sniped from 1000m away lol.

Hey everyone, I was curious if there are any resources for server operators? Any documents or anything to help really. Like how to read or search logs, make sure things are running smoothly, etc. Any help would be much appreciated!
-
I'm server admin :/ Anyway other resources people have? I read up @ BIS forums to improve hack detection etc, just want to make sure I am doing the best job I can at administrating this server.

HFB, If today I purchased a Day Z server, how long would it take for it to actually be set up AND connected to the Hive? Thanks! -

Why does dayz lag so bad? I have a decent enough computer to get 60 frames.
urbanfox replied to Keen's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Resolution/AA are going to be your biggest hits. Even though the game is not graphically amazing, it is still fairly detailed AND has a huge view distance. Even on a high end computer you can't max out this game. -
If you don't have enough slots to put something in, it deletes it. If you want to easily switch weapons, open your bag, select the weapon in your bag, and hit the "take" button. Ammo switches automatically as well.

Mass database is great in theory but...
urbanfox replied to Bandit (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I think anything but one master database would destroy the purpose of this game. -
Shader Model 3 and 896 MB VRAM ?
urbanfox replied to Zombietastic's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That will build you a beast of a system. Ivy Bridge, water cooling, two 7970's or 680's, SSD, etc etc. -
It's not about performance, it's about competitive advantage unfortunately.
-
It is still valid, especially when at the moment there is no dual core Ivy Bridge CPU. In addition, the difference there is NOT because of IPC strength or higher clock speed, the difference is due to more cores, plain and simple. So yes, the i3 may be Sandy Bridge and the i7 is Ivy Bridge, but the performance difference is not due to IPC strength, clock speed difference, or more threads, it's a result of double the physical cores.

Like I said in the other thread, a resounding no.
-
In a nutshell, no way. Not even on the lowest possible settings.

is dayz becoming over saturated in the media?
