will this computer work for dayz?

No, not even close unfortunately. It's one of the weakest "modern" CPU's out there, only 2GB of ram, and the GPU is severely lacking. A $400 PC would be better, but if you are stuck on a laptop for that price you can get something a lot more powerful, but don't expect DayZ to be playable.

    Lowpinggameservers.com is deceiving

Can't comment on them, but looking at their website.. $1/slot? Their cheapest dedicated server is $140 for a crappy 2.4 GHz Core2Quad? Their pricing is absolutely horrendous.
  3. Contact your hoster? Or do you have root access?
  4. There are A LOT of misconceptions about the "rules". What specific rules are you referring to? I will say this though... No one is telling anyone how to spend their money. The official Hive is an (EOL) service. To play DayZ, you do not need to use this service, and even if you did, it's still a service that you aren't paying for (there is no valid argument that starts with 'but I am paying for it since I have to pay for a server...'). No one is forcing anyone to use the public Hive. Again, though, there are a ton of misconceptions about the rules, so what specifically are you referring to? ***PLEASE NOTE I AM NOT INVOLVED IN THE STANDALONE IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM. ANYTHING I SAY IS DIRECTLY REFERRING TO THE CURRENT EOL PUBLIC HIVE***

No more copying to your OA folder

It depends entirely on your installation. Some people have different ARMA II & OA folders, some do not. For example, I bought ARMA II/OA CO from Amazon, so the default install folder is just "ARMA II" or whatever, so their root folder is the same.
  6. There are too many variables to just pick one server from whatever company and try to test performance by simply logging in and seeing if there is desync. For example, where is the server in relation to your PC? How many game servers are being ran on that server? How many players are on each game server on the physical server? How is their path to the Hive? How is the Hive's performance at that moment? What kind of specs is the server running? etc. Some of those variables can be controlled by the host, some cannot. The trend for sometime now has been the move away from high powered single/dual quad-core CPU's in favor of down-clocked dual hex-core CPU's, but that was always inevitable. Companies have to balance performance with making a buck, so it just makes more business sense to move to a machine that while may cost more can fit more than the difference in cost. Has that hurt the community? Yes, in a sense, on servers where there is a large player base, but at the same time it's also the reason there are so many servers. Paying for and administering a dual hex-core server with one power drop and one network drop is less expensive than paying for and administering four quad-core servers, regardless of if the performance difference between the machines is large. However, in the end the customer does benefit from the fact there is A LOT more competition out there and pricing has to be competitive. EDIT Just to be clear though, I think it's ridiculous to run 2 or DayZ instances per actual CPU core. Put an actual player load on all those servers and performance will come screeching to a halt, especially on dual hex-core servers where the overall clock speed is only around 45% more than the average quad-core server.
  7. That's a known bug, a restart or two should return them.
  8. It's not related, but I know you love conspiracy theories. I don't know, submit a ticket.
  9. It's actually a 2.0 GHz CPU. It will only hit 2.5 GHz when it goes into one of the Turbo modes, and even then only 1-2 cores can be fully active. With 5-6 cores (in each physical CPU; 6 cores each) active, turbo mode might kick in for 2.3 GHz.

SG #00 PMC Dayz Server (singapore)

If you do host again, my recommendation would be in the future to go with someone other than MP. Besides being downright lazy, their prices are like 2-2.5x more expensive than everyone else. For the price of ONE of their managed servers, you can get a dedicated server. Ouch.
  11. I'm not official anything and I'm not condoning one thing or another. What I am saying is I'm not going to sit here and let you act all 'holier than thou' and pretend you only have the interests of the community at heart because you and I know that's bullshit. If you really were doing this for the "community" and not your own selfish gains, then you would have never offered Lee money for access, you would have just asked for them for free. But, he didn't want to make a business deal with you, so now it's all about 'oh this isn't right!'. Bullshit, because I'm sure had he let you pay him you wouldn't have said one word when you were profiting off the same thing you are demonizing. This issue blew up and guess what? Lee is trying to do the right thing. He has reached out to everyone involved. He is releasing everything. He is doing the right thing. However, you continue to try to shit on him. You wanted get a piece of the pie, you were denied, THEN you tried to create a public spectacle. That's fact and you will never be able to get around that.
  12. "Paypal got me $40 back from a cancelled subscription gone wrong." Yes, on a cancelled subscription. That was the basis for your claim and refund. I'm talking about disputes involving ongoing service.
  13. I see... so, it wasn't about the community, it was about you getting a piece of the pie. It's real funny how this thread would have never been made had they allowed you to pay them for access, but since they didn't your new platform is they need to release it for the "community". I think you're a hypocrite. You make it sound like he just said flat out "no" to supporting other maps. I believe he actually explained the pitfalls of supporting multiple versions and already has stated he is working on this... not to mention Lee has already agreed and has reached out to Bliss and others to make everything publicly available. But, continue bitching and trying to make people think all your actions are selfless for the "community".
  14. Hey new kid on the block, question... Before you made this thread, did you reach out to Josh or Lee? I'm going to guess not. I'm not sure why you keep trying to shit on Lee, either. I've been watching this situation closely, and since this has all blown up, I haven't seen Lee go "fuck everyone". No, he's pretty much done the opposite and reached out to everyone involved (including the map maker for Lingor/Panthera whom you are also hosting without his permission... among others...). Get off your high horse ersan191. Before DayZ even blew up Lee was here long before you supporting the community. Why don't you give him some respect rather than try to make a public spectacle of yourself.
  15. The majority of your links were talking about MMO accounts etc.... Straight from PayPal from my last dispute: Status After careful consideration, we're unable to decide this claim in your favor at this time. The item is ineligible for PayPal Buyer Protection because it is intangible. SO, consider this a PSA everyone, you are NOT covered by buyer protection. Regardless of what anyone says.
