When are you guys doing the next trade? I would really like to make a trade, I put an application up on your forums. I think this is one of the better ideas I've seen, and I may be able to (with my buddy if he's interested) work for you guys for a couple weeks. as I am currently on vacation from a trade school for three weeks, but after that I can only get access to my computer saturday and sunday. Anyway, if you guys want any more info just ask. I'm going to be watching this thread as much as I can.

People...WTF is wrong with you?
pilot replied to lukasforeals's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
you are supposed to have to way the pro's and cons of lighting up with a flare or chemlights at night, and his "fanboyism" is called "experience" some of us have been here since some really scary bugs and find posts about this to be extremely silly, considering how minor the complaints are and how hard Rocket works all the damn time to try to add new features and fix other bugs. THIS IS NOT A PAID PRODUCT. WE DO NOT GET THE RIGHT TO ACT ENTITLED TO IT. Stop trying to seem like you deserve X or Y, because if we had paid for this I'd be all for it, but we didn't. its a free mod with many many bugs, most of which are known about, but just because someone knows about something doesn't mean its easy to fix. I spent 8 hours in the Skyrim Creation Kit trying to script a quest start, I knew what the issue was, but it still took me 8 fucking hours to do. -
Do you have a ghillie suit? NVG's? a vehicle? or a team? No? Then make a goal and try to attain it. I have EVERYTHING you have and a bit more, but I always find something to do when I log on, be it stock myself up on food, or stalk someone to learn their disposition and offer to trade or work together. Just because you have the tools to survive doesn't mean you can stop trying to survive, like the other person said, all you have is the paints and the canvas. All you are is prepared.

To Rocket & the “Hardcore” crowd
pilot replied to RJ Macready's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
OP stick around for awhile, you'll quickly discover things aren't as hard as you think they are at first and we all have reasons for enjoying the hardening of the mod. I used to groan about X or Y, then I did something that has never happened before. I adapted to the unforgiving nature of the game, instead of the game adapting to me. I realized I *liked* how the game had kicked me into its shape, instead of apologetically becoming more casual. there is a massive learning curve that you don't notice until you are through it. You'll be like us eventually. PS: I don't have many posts because I'm at a trade school right now, and I'm playing when I can, but I have put 120 hours into my current character, so I have a little experience -
Date/Time:may 27th 2012 What happened:the game spawned a clone of me with all my gear, that did not count as a kill or murder, and allowed my friend to get a duplicate coyote backpack Where you were:in Berezino minimart next to hospital What you were doing: I switched between the Ghillie Suit Skin and the Camoflage Skin, no changing back to civilian, after the third time I did this we heard a swimming noise and there was another me floating in the floor in the swim animation wearing the skin I had just changed out of. My friend and I opted to fix the bug the professional way so I left the server while he shot nega-me and came back and looted my own corpse. *Current installed version:1.6.0.1 *Server(s) you were on: Bashurverse 2 *Timeline of events before/after error: Went to hospital then read that skins spawn in residential areas so we hit up minimarts looking, eventually found two and we were trying to decide who should wear what.

The mod is free, the game is not.

MINECRAFT They never shut anything down, we were allowed to play during all stages of development. PC tests for mods are not like a typical "Alpha" or "Beta" They are done by the community for the community (with rocket being a notable exception) so there is very little to be gained from preventing our access like they do with paid product tests.

I'd also like to state in later builds that in my humble opinion it would be nice to have it toggle-able, so that we can see the specifics when necessary, and possibly tied to server difficulty, as it gives away a lot of intel in a hardcore server, and its great for new players to use as a crutch for a bit.

People are beginning to use avoidance tactics as opposed to hostility now, proofed by the time alive indicator slowly rising on the home page (When I started it was 28 mins). But as a general rule, trust no one, once you have found lots of good loot, join a different server. Murphy's Law is server based for me. Anytime I get hella good gear and I stay in the server I die 15 seconds later. If I leave and join another I do alright. But there are people doing lets plays of this on youtube, and some of them are up to date, so they are a decent indicator of how the game space is.

THE Night is TOO DAMN DARK Thread. Others will be deleted etc.
pilot replied to Slamz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The Darkness of the nights really bothered me before I got two weapons with flashlights, now we just swap leads, my partner runs to the end of my beam then I run to the end of his. I actually really like moving at night now. but look at the lighting showcase for arma III's nights. those are awesome -
Can also confirm this, most common offenders are JP1 server and Bashurverse2 for me

Whats up with all the nerds..
pilot replied to FievelGoesPostal's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If I see someone doing death avoidance from zombies or some such I just watch the spot they left from and kill them when they come back, and I'm a relatively nice guy, but death avoidance pisses me off -
they are residential spawns only. I have found a bunch in minimarts and apartments but none at NW or in StSab tents

I got hit by a bandit once, a long range shot that pierced my shoulder, this was after my partner and I had stumbled past a survivor eqipped with a CZ, we still had him in sight, so I had my partner take the shot. Killed him instantly, and then another shot barely missed my head. The bandit was still out there. We killed an innocent man because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. That was the catalyst. We now patrol in ghillie suits, wait for someone to report bandits, and then we take them down. It is our atonement. It is our purpose. A bandit caused me to take a life that didn't need taking. So now we take theirs. In hope that we can eventually repay the poor soul whose existence we ended. your story reminded me of that moment.

Arent you tired of this (attacked through wall)
pilot replied to trillz (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
stand in the middle of the room, I'm guessing rocket will fix the morphing zed attacks once we hit beta, but arma was never built with melee combat in mind so its probably hard to get it to understand -
Bandits..You're wrong to think that all survivors are stupid
pilot replied to bjarnidk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
saw a few posts bashing the "Bandit Hunters" Let me make myself clear, I hunt bandits because I have always enjoyed the base concept of Karmic Retribution, if you mouth off in global chat after killing someone I will hunt you. If you kill me I will hunt you, if you are playing like the bandits in this thread claim to play (kill by necessity/ self defense etc) and you keep quiet about it I probably wont hunt you. I hunt those with hubris. Because "I enjoy all the killing" but I like to restrain myself to people who are asses about it. (A bit like Dexter the HBO show) Should Probably mention I work in two man teams, so if I die by a bandit he usually follows suit immediately after, and the only support I offer new players is helping with controls, server clock, etc. If I see a survivor running from gunfire I will kill the shooter, not to protect the survivor, but because I enjoy killing people who mindlessly attack others. -
Nice, just hope rocket makes the old bandit skin a pickup later, I really liked the camo and face mask combo.
-
Servers that muck about with things like freezing the in-game clock have many problems like this. Its just a bad server, odds are once you leave you'll spawn wherever you started playing in that session, as they seem to be unable to log character data, so those servers are like having a dream basically.

Elektro has cranes as well IIRC

Does anyone know if whenever Rocket implements the new skin pick ups and removes the bandit transformation whether or not we'll keep our skins we had before the change? because I like the camo on bandit skins and am considering going bandit so I'll have the skin when the change happens
