    Thanks Cdr, the Jet was reported in another thread as well, but they did not have screenshots of the playerlist, nor did they include date/time for when it happened. I'll check it out in the logs and maybe we can get this guy globally banned.

    timmy, this happened the 25th? Sorry that I didn't notice this post till now. I'll look around in the logs and maybe I can locate who the culprit is. Thanks for the report.     Lol... Jets? Badass! But seriously Deltron... If you see something wrong with my servers, post it in the official Kansas 1 & 2 server thread. And seriously... do a better job collecting evidence. There is nothing in that screenshot that proves that it was in one of my servers, or that it was taken by you even, or what time it was taken, or who was in the server at that time... Next time, hit I to bring up the Multiplayer Stats window and take a second screenshot. That will show what server you are in, as well as a list of players in the server (it's not a full list, so you may want to hit P or whatever key brings up the full player list and get a screen of that too). It's obvious that the Jets were hacked in, but there is no point of reporting stuff like this if you don't provide at the very least the date/time that this happened. Thanks again for another worthless report.

    Horses would be cool. But yeah, to many design problems. You could just use the bicycle or motorcycle as the base model I guess. And also, you can't fire from any vehicles in Arma 2. Not sure how they would design around that.

    One account, two characters?

    Like the others have said, you need a second Steam account. Here is the easiest way: 1. Log into the second Steam account. 2. Go to your Steam Games Library. 3. Right-click Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead in the menu on the left. 4. Select 'Reinstall BattlEye Anti-Cheat' from the drop-down menu. That will update the required profile info/registry keys/whatever, and when you log into the game again, you'll be on the second character. When you want to go back to the first character, just log into the first Steam account and do the re-install of BattlEye again.
  8. Thanks for the feedback vlees. The servers were down for a bit while I deployed the new Kansas 2 veteran server. But they shouldn't have any downtime from now on. If you do see them go down again, I will appreciate notification of that fact. The nuking sucks, but there really isn't anything we can do about it until rocket, BI and BattlEye find a way to stop it. But again, I'd love it if people notified me when it does happen, and get me screenshots of the player-list. I'll see you around.

    Thanks for your constructive input Scott. I'm glad your stuff is back. I'll turn off the crosshairs tonight. Your chicken picture made me lol :D Ravin... I was deploying a second server. The two guys were in Kansas 1 while Kansas 2 was starting up because I wanted to make sure the new server wouldn't have any impact on either server. I also wanted to make sure the motd and restart warning scripts were working ok and it is easier for them to just say 'hey that warning is working ok!' on skype while i'm working on the other server. I don't see how this is hard to understand. I don't need to defend myself anyways... Kansas 1 has been up for around a month now' date=' and it's been locked for a total of maybe 30-40 minutes. I take heavy offence at anyone accusing me of abusing my admin powers. So... to anyone that wants to accuse me... go fuck yourself. And I'm not saying that to you Ravin, or anyone else in this thread... That's just how I feel about this topic. DayZ server admins put a lot of money and time into providing a service for the community and they get very little reward for it. If you see an admin clearly abusing their power, you have responsibility to [b']COLLECT CLEAR EVIDENCE and post it in the CHEAT REPORTING area of the forums. Putting BS stuff like this on the forums is not productive and it's definitely not helping the community any. I won't be posting in this thread again. If you have problems with my servers, please post in the new Kansas 1 & 2 thread. *Edit* - Just noticed this part of your post Ravin: I just need to point out that MrSherenai is not talking about the Kansas servers. He has his own servers and was simply defending my statements. MrSherenai, I appreciate your input. I understand that there are admins that abuse their power and it's good to hear from those who actually care about debugging, along with having good fun :P

    Scott, usually when vehicles and tents disappear, it's a problem with the server pulling info from rockets main database. I've seen it in the logs before. After a server restart, it usually reconnects and the items re-appear where they were before. That may or may not be the case here. I'll look at the logs from today and see if it happened. Check your camp again now that I'm done screwing around with the servers.

    Scott I will take that into consideration. I'm working on the website at http://www.n0ob.com and updates will be there, and I will keep the forum thread I am about to create for the servers updated as well. Lazer I'll take all the help i can get :-) On a side note, whenever the server is locked, I use the same password: ihelptest Anyone with that password is welcome to hop in the server, even when I'm doing maintenance. Just expect abrupt server restarts. I only lock it to keep un-aware people from loosing their progress when a restart happens. I'm working on the servers right now. I'll update this thread when I get them back online.

    Sorry that I missed this post earlier guys. *Start rant* Deltron3O3O, I'm not usually a rude person, and I'll try to say this in a nice way, but I really, really dislike people like you that come into these forums every time a server is locked for a few minutes and cry about it. Do you think it's your job to snitch on people? The majority of server hosts put a lot of time and effort into keeping their DayZ servers running well, and when they come to these forums and see someone reporting them for something like this... it's like a slap in the face. *End rant* Anyway, I am the owner of Kansas 1 (now US 155 - Kansas 1 and US 156 - Kansas 2). I knew it was just a matter of time before I saw one of these posts for my server, so I'm not really concerned. Yes, the server was locked. Yes, mfwic and doodles were in the server at that time. And I will explain why below. Before that, I just want to mention that when the server is locked, it CLEARLY states [locked for maintenance] in the title. I think that should give you a clue to why it was locked :dodgy: On to the explination: I recently was white-listed for a second server, which will be the veteran mode twin of Kansas 1. I have been working on getting the second server setup and have been testing to make sure everything is running smoothly. mfwic and doodles help me check the status of the server when I'm working on it. I want these servers to run as well as they can when I put them online. And yes Lazermatt, the server was down yesterday. It should be online today soon and I'm hoping to do some stress testing. During that time, Kansas 1 will be capped at 40 players and Kansas 2 will be capped at 20 players. Once I confirm that the server can handle the load, I will put both servers at 40, and then hopefully up to 50. As far as the nuking and barbed wire... I won't really be doing anything about that. It is up to rocket, BI and the guys at BEC to take care of that kind of thing if they want this mod to be successful. If you are able to pinpoint the players that did the nuking, or cheating, please report it on the website at n0ob.com . The website has also been down for the past few weeks, but I'm turning it back on today just to have the support ticket system working again. I am also in the process of creating an 'official' thread on these forums for the server, so you will be able to report stuff like this there as well. As always, I thank those that play on my server and I look forward to working with everyone to make it a stable place to play. And deltron... don't be a dick.

    How to tweak graphics to see at night?

    one of the latest arma 2 beta patches made it possible for servers to disable gamma changes in the mission file, so that trick doesnt work anymore. the plus side of this is that the playing field is now leveled. there's a small portion of players that like playing at night. the rest just find daylight servers when their favorite server gets dark.

    Server Locked.

    WildGunsTomcat, this is obviously not BEC. BEC does not kick 20 people at once. BEC does not lock unless 5 or more people are loitering in the lobby (default is 5 people. I set mine to 10) On a side note, I'm pretty sure you cannot change the max users allowed in a server unless you: 1. shut server down 2. change config file 3. start server again If there are commands that can do this without restarting the server, I'd love to know.

  16. This project is in alpha stage. Not having a global chat makes it harder for people to communicate about bugs or how to use new features. It should be the server admins choice to have side chat or not. It's total BS that they have threatened to blacklist servers that run with side chat enabled.

    having to wipe at each update just makes more work for the devs. I dont care about wipes when they need them, but i really dont think rocket needs more to do.

  19. Get on the IRC channels also. Its not really any easier to contact a dev there, but at least you can chat with fellow players/admins about your issues and ideas.
  20. Keep a backup of old hotfix files if you want to switch between versions. I know it's a bitch right when a hotfix comes out. It takes a day or so for everyone to get updated and the updated servers. The new versions are buggy as fuck sometimes too, etc. It's tempting to roll back to just be able to play. But honestly, this is alpha. Read the rocket facts of life post. Sometimes shit sucks, but just deal with it. We need to play the latest version and report what is broken so rocket can fix it. If we all revert to older versions, it will hurt the debug process.

    Just a quick (and extremely stupid) question.

    Like WGT said above: scroll wheel is your friend. Anything that can be interacted with in Arma 2 will have a menu option on the middle left side of the screen if you look at it and roll your mouse scroll wheel. Not sure what your supposed to do if you dont have a scroll wheel... rebind the key i guess?
  22. No Sykotron, there's nothing you can do to reserve slots right now. If you somehow figured a way to make a script to do what you want, then yeah you could probably get away with locking it at 47/50. Someone would eventually come onto these forums and flame you for locking your server though. However, you obviously don't know how to do this (no offense or anything, you said yourself that you haven't hosted a server before), and personally I cant think of a way to make something like that happen. There is nothing built into Arma 2 that would make it easy to script a reserve system. So in short, no, you will not be able to create a script to auto-lock the server. It is possible to lock the server manually, so your friends can take the slots of people that log off, but that itself is looked down on and as I said before, the little bitches will come running to these forums to report you. Regardless of all that: it is extremely hard to get a dev to white-list your server. They are extremely busy. Some people have been waiting months and still have had no reply. If you have a server sitting around that you can host on, then go ahead and request to be white-listed. But I wouldn't go out an rent one just for DayZ. You'll end up wasting a lot of money on an unused server.

  24. rocket addressed this, more or less, in a prior forum thread: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=3593 It's something we all want, but it's basically up to BIS to implement it at the Arma 2 level. rocket has enough on his plate right now and if he has to do it himself, it probably won't be till later in alpha, or even beta. We've all discussed this here before. I don't think it needs to be re-hashed.
