  1. Sorry for the slow reply, the server was down for an extended period due to some issues in regards with a serverside patch, though for less then a day.
  2. I usually fix it with the Flush function, or by randomly changing settings (mainly AA or HDR), but I'll try that next time the normal methods won't fix it.
  3. Sadly I'm unable to do anything about it, as its a game issue, not a server issue. However you should try flushing. You do this by -holding- the left shift button and the - key on your numpad at the same time, then writing the word "flush".. it sometimes corrects the problem or atleast improves it. You'll see if you've done it correctly, as it usually displays a black screen that says "Flushing" for a few moments.

Admins need to be able to ADMIN!

Would still be horribly abused to find camps and vehicles, spectator mode for admins should not be an option.
  5. The tent thing was probably a bug. Sometimes, especially after server crashes and automatically restarts, it seems to fail to get the proper information from the hive about tents and vehicles. That bug is fixed by restarting the server again, which is most likely what happend if I were to guess. I'm unfamiliar with the mosaic problem though, is that when the building graphics bug the hell out, almost blinding you?
  6. Sadly not, it appears to be down again We have had problems with the Mumble host several times.. hopefully they'll get their act together soon or we'll have to find a new host.

    Server problems

Does your server name (the part which shows on the browsers) have all the required information? Is the server updated to the newest DayZ and arma2 patches? Is the server restarted often enough to prevent lack of loot due to bugs? Server related issues? (as in, do players experience lower FPS on your server then others, or more desyncs/bad ping for a DE server)
  8. It is indeed! During the last week we've been reseting less frequently then ordinary, both due to busyness IRL and due to that we updated our server rather late to avoid certain issues (meaning there were less people on the server). However that is no longer an issue, and the resets will be done on a daily basis. And while we may not always play daily, both me and Zarmaka check the forums (this thread and PM's), if something happens that requires a restart we'll be on it as fast as we can.

Admins need to be able to ADMIN!

Giving admins such powers will sadly only lead to abuse, drama and more problems. Comparing DayZ to other competitive multiplayer games is hard to do, atleast fairly.. as DayZ relation to loot and progress is different from most games. In terms of most FPS's or shooters, wallhacking and other sorts of hacking give far greater gain in Dayz then others, as gear has "value" of sorts, maybe not for the hacker himself, but some will hack and kill others just for the joy of doing it, just to make his opponents mad (hackers who fire off nukes in DayZ hardly do it to get awesome loot, but rather to piss people off). In terms of most MMO's you can't really compare the need for hack protection in PvP settings, as in most MMO's you lose nothing when you die, the exceptions being games like Eve Online, Darkfall Online, Mortal Online and Ultima Online, but in these games (atleast the first 3) the gain from some of the type of hacks you mention, like wallhackers and aimbotters is slim to none, and they often have unique software to catch offenders. Battleye is far from perfect, but name one software of the kind that is.. the software seems to work decently, as there are numerous complaints about global bans every day in the unban section of the forum (even if there's a sticky thread saying that there's no point posting about global bans), and most likely a far larger number gets banned without complaining. To answer your last question: WoW (along with other Blizzard titles like Diablo and Starcraft) uses a anti cheating software known as Warden, it is basically a spyware that collects information about other processes running on your computer and sends it to Blizzards own servers, where it's compared to known hacking software (automated process). Hopefully most of the admin restrictions and the things that makes detecting hackers effectively so hard will be sorted when DayZ is released as a standalone game.

Admins need to be able to ADMIN!

As a admin (as in someone who both pays for and attempts to maintain my server), I've grown quite annoyed with some of the limitations we have. Primarily, the kind concerning people who openly use exploits like combat logging (yes, it's been stated by Rocket that abusing this is an exploit), and yet are able to point to the famous quote stating that the only two bannable offenses, is harrasment and racism (a quote which obviously is taken out of context, note how hacking apparently isn't a bannable offense either). I am firmly against giving myself or any other admins any powers that can easily be abused, the suggested "spectator mode" is a ridiculous suggestion that would lead to enormous amounts of abuse from certain admins. Instead, admins should be free to give local bans to anyone they catch blatantly exploiting, and I'm not necessarily talking about someone who disconnects once a bullet hits them, as it could "theoretically" be a accidental or unintended disconnect. However, when I can watch a person get shot (non lethal), exit into the lobby, stay there, go back ingame after five minutes, then bounce back into the lobby when he's shot at again, and repeat that action until I manage to kill him, he gives up and leaves or I give up and leave.. Why can't I do anything about it? A local ban saves my servers community the hassle of having to deal with such a person anymore, and he's able to continue playing on other servers, maybe even learn from his mistake and stop abusing the mechanics. And if he lost a camp, if he has buddies they'll surly bring whatever valuable equipment he needs from it, if not then it's just an extension of the punishment. I chose that example simply because it's the easiest to attempt to explain, but my example will in many ways be fixed once a logout timer is implemented and I truly look forward to the day. In the end, I'll continue hosting my server, even if my powers are somewhat limited.
  11. Today! The server is now updated, and seems to be working just fine. Sorry about the delay.

    Banned for combat logging

Popular quote taken out of context for forum warriors attempting to legitimate their exploiting. Rocket has specifically stated that combat logging is an exploit, and by common standards all exploitation done with intent (combat logging, duping and so on) are bannable offenses. It should also be stated that if you truly believe that your "two reasons" are the correct reasons, then hacking is allowed as it's not stated as one of the two reasons stated. In a different thread, I saw a Dev answered that server admins should provide proof to the dev's about the combat logging, if they have it. In the end I'm unable to say what the official stance is, Rocket has stated specifically that alt-f4'ing is an exploit, however he has not stated (to my knowlege) specifically that admins are free to ban people for it. By all means, they should be banned.. and repeat offenders should be banned globally.
  13. Appears to be up and running now.
  14. Server is up again. I apologize for the downtime, please feel free to send me or Zarmaka a forum PM if something should happen, we'll deal with it faster that way.
