Why Are There No Normal Public Servers?
TG ! Jimmy replied to LiftCore's topic in New Player Discussion
US3480 is (as always) a vanilla official hive server. We keep it as clean as we can, and stay on top of the updates (to the extent available by the host). Glad to see you all enjoying the server, hope to see many more friends join us soon! Cheers, Jimmy -

Q: How to: Difficulty Veteran with Names shown when talking in sidechat?
TG ! Jimmy replied to haywardgb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
As far as disabling VON, sure this is an easy fix. I was under the impression we were looking to have vonID=1 so you could see who was talking in side ;-) -
Cheers, Razor.

Q: How to: Difficulty Veteran with Names shown when talking in sidechat?
TG ! Jimmy replied to haywardgb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You want to look into your config files and under each difficulty there is a brief config for it. Go to the difficulty option you select [veteran] and change the option "vonID=0" to "vonID=1" and it will show the playername when they key their mic. File is the reality.arma2oaprofile config file (where difficulty settings live) Cheers, Jimmy Should look like this: -

Back after months...DayZ any better?
TG ! Jimmy replied to .Ender.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Glad to see you've come back to apocalypse, If you're out for a vanilla DayZ experience we run as tight a ship as possible. In a game based on scripting there's only so much that can be done to combat the skiddies, but it's more secure now than it ever was. Hopefully you're able to get all up to date and enjoy DayZ again. It's been quite a trip over the last year, but you'll catch up quickly! Cheers, Jimmy -
During testing we were able to almost entirely conceal a (yellow) vehicle under a camo net. It may not be 100% but it's a very drastic improvement, and it will add another commodity to the world of DayZ. Cheers, Jimmy

Problem nstalling a new asus graphics card
TG ! Jimmy replied to bobfromdowntheroad's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Hey mate, Have you attempted to disable your on-board graphics via BIOS? I'd start with fresh drivers, but also consider disabling the on-board, seeing as how you don't intend to use it. Cheers, Jimmy -
I found a military base with tents and dead soldiers north of Prigorgsky

Is it just me or does nobody really play "Vanilla" DayZ anymore?
TG ! Jimmy replied to indalcecio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Glad you came to play with us! Per DayZ's loosely woven fabric of society, there are always people just looking to shoot anything that moves. I dislike it, but understand that there's nothing we can do about it--and that it adds another element to the game. I certainly hope the good times outweigh the bad, and you guys come back for more. Cheers, Jimmy -
Still in private testing, you can view the rolling changelog for "updates" on it, though B)

Ticrate is something you'd find in a FPS game server (think Counter Strike, Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead) where each client is rendering frames, and the server is also rendering frames. The tickrate describes how many snapshots, or "ticks", per second the server is rendering. The higher the tickrate, the more snapshots of the world the server is taking--so a higher tickrate in a Valve game is often looked at as higher performance as it (in theory) would be allowing more precision for each bullet fired, each step a player takes, etc. I am unsure why it's being discussed here...

TG ! Jimmy replied to indalcecio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
US3480 and US816 are vanilla options, we'd love to have more friends to play with! Cheers, Jimmy -
Thanks for the recommendation B)

I do agree with you, I just think in this case we're limited by Arma. Notice how many people struggle with framerates, lag, and server performance as it is? To have zeds spawn, scan (LOS as well as sound), patrol a certain area, aggro, form hordes, then interact in what I will call "horde mode" is asking a lot. Actually, I think it's asking too much. Not of the developers, but of the servers. I've had to resort to restarting my server every three hours negate an existing memory hole in Arma that bleeds performance, and that is with the system as-is on a vanilla server. I'm not saying you are wrong--I actually hold the same point of view as far as the horde mechanic and the potential threat (or non threat?) the zeds should pose towards humans. I just don't think that given the state of the engine that it's a reasonable thing to command of anyone. B) Just my $.02 Cheers, Jimmy

Vehicles resetting/server not saving 1.7.7.1
TG ! Jimmy replied to toomadtoplay's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Hey mate, First thing I do when something isn't working properly is go back to square one. You have modified some files, which is fine, but it would be impossible to know which modification broke your vehicle spawns at this point. I would go back to vanilla, then add each modification in piece by piece over a series of restarts (and possible days) to be certain they are working properly. This will also help you track which one is breaking your spawns ;) Cheers, Jimmy- 1 reply

I was banned from my favorite server, US 3480, please help!
TG ! Jimmy replied to XArrage's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hosting rule #11 is a pretty common rule. Official hives typically enforce it to create an environment for everyone to play. Cheers, Jimmy -
Hey mate, glad to see you're seeking a vanilla server. There are few of them around. Feel free to join us on US3480, or US816. Both official hives, both vanilla (no mods etc.) both full of audacious gasbags like myself who are willing to screw around. Info is in my sig, but you knew that B) Cheers, Jimmy

Vehicle don't respawn on Official Hive
TG ! Jimmy replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hey, sorry to hear about the struggles! Shoot me a PM, I can walk you through a fix that has worked for many other server owners. Cheers, Jimmy -
Temp bans for spam typically don't last long--just enough time to get everyone to stop yelling "stay out of sidechat!". For some reason, people think that by yelling into side chat, it will somehow get other people to stop using side chat. In any case, sorry for the confusion--glad to see you're joining us in US3480! Cheers, Jimmy
