BattlEye Server Filters for DayZ Mod 1.8.4

We're always happy to help--but we also do not post players' IP addresses publicly. Some people see it as a courtesy we don't need to extend to the cheaters, but it's not fair to other folks that may share a connection with them to be potentially attacked for someone else's behavior. Ban Sys, and just try to keep IP's anonymous in the future. Cheers, Jimmy

    US 3480 - Banned Players

Checking into your ban, will post back within 24 hours or remove the ban. This has since been removed, and I will be investigating this log moving forward. Cheers, Jimmy

BattlEye Server Filters for DayZ Mod 1.8.4

Hey Splinter, are you seeing two entries (#16 and #98) each time? ex: 03.02.2014 00:40:10: playername (ip) GUID - #16 "HandGrenade" 0:003.02.2014 00:40:10: playername (ip) GUID - #98 "HandGrenade" 0:0 It's a banned item if so (blacklisted item a player has, or is trying to pickup).

BattlEye Server Filters for DayZ Mod 1.8.4

Fellow owner/admin, If it's relevant to you at all, I've got the current filters that Faco and I have worked on here. They offer the new regex-compatible filters so you'll be compliant. Perhaps we can use this thread moving forward if you have filter issues. Post a reply here with any filter questions moving forward. Cheers, Jimmy edit: link removed due to Faco updating on another page
  6. Cheers! It will be put to good use. Thank you for the consideration. -Jimmy
  7. Splinter, thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it, and I'm happy to help! I am pretty sad to see this go away. I require my admins to post bans here, so when a player cannot join our server at least they have a centralized place to go find out some information. I would say on average I get two PM's a week from players who have been banned, and because of this forum we are able to either sort out a misunderstanding--or I can let the player know that they have been caught and that's the end of their time in our server. It's not a foolproof method of interaction, but it sure beats banning players and giving them no means of communicating with us. A centralized point of contact is a great tool for communication. Not that this is a business, but to loosely relate it to customer service it could be argued that a player banned by accident, or by false positive, is to kick out a customer or client. If they go rant to their friends about your poorly run server and go on to flame the admin staff, then their friends hear, and their friends...you get the drift. It can cause a lot of bad press for a server. I suppose it's true, each owner/admin could run a web site and direct their ban info and any other press to that location. I think that's something that many of us (dying breed) official hive admin could do, but it's also one more thing to manage. I actually ran a forum for my server for a brief period and I can count on one hand the amount of contact I received from my playerbase through it. I grew tired of checking up on our insignificant site when in truth, players would come here to this site to lodge their complaints. This forum already has given DayZmod players a voice, and it seems they choose to use it, rather than hunt down a site for each server they visit. One more place to put up with the trolls, the spam, and the common asshattery that mature players care to avoid. The forum staff here certainly knows what I mean by that. They deal with as much bravo sierra as anyone who's ever touched a forum. Sometimes feels as though you need to glove up before logging in, I imagine. It's impossible to give a man advice if he hasn't asked for it, so I won't directly suggest how to run this forum. I'll stretch to say that there is still a DayZ Mod Suggestions forum, and I'm going to make the connection to this post and that forum albeit technically in the wrong section. It does seem as though while there is still any amount of forum space allocated to the DayZmod that it's fair to give the few gluttons-for-punishment that run official hives a place to band together in keeping the official hive as clean as possible. The hive still exists, the playerbase still exists, the servers are still paid for and managed by guys who truly care about them. I'm not altogether convinced we need some of the other forum categories that still exist--but I'm sure there are folks that would miss them if they were abolished. I stopped by and checked this section frequently. Partially to be sure we admin were doing a quality job of policing our servers, partially to share banlists/data/etc. with other official hive admin, but also to find those players who had a bad experience in my server. If they were banned, and they would care to lodge a complaint, I would do my best to respond to them in an appropriate manner. I feel like it's these little things that have made the few remaining official hive servers last as long as they have. In summary, I'd just ask that this is reviewed for the Nth time. Even if the section were to be simply re-created from scratch--just to give the official hive a little corner of existence to manage itself until it's no longer relevant. There are still people who care, and isn't that what the hive was created for anyhow? Thanks for putting up with my long-winded posts, Jimmy

    Banned From Us 3480

Hopefully you read through the thread and saw that we were able to easily resolve this issue without resorting to hateful language towards each other. I know being banned for false positives and other undeserved reasons is a pain, believe me, but in most cases we're able to handle it like men. Quick. Fair. Clean. Cheers, Jimmy

    Banned From Us 3480

Hey mate, First off, let me thank you for playing in 3480. We appreciate the traffic, and the ban appeal. Digging through the log files I see a line that shows as: 27.01.2014 12:46:58: MAXI (IP) GUID - #81 "humanity" = -1.07871e+006 52:5 Sniper1_DZ27.01.2014 12:46:58: MAXI (IP) GUID - Value Restriction #1 "humanity" = -1.07871e+006 52:5 Sniper1_DZ The humanity value "-1.07871e+006" is caught by some filters due to the e+00 and will read as a value restriction. I have whitelisted this value, so it won't kick you from the server; however, it still is logged and shows up thusly. I personally apologize for not making my admin staff aware that this is nothing more than an low humanity (very low, you naughty bandit) and does not constitute as an offense. In hopes of running a clean server, my admin staff tries to scan the logs every night and weed out the script kiddies who like to come ruin the fun for everyone. Being that there are often times a lot of players in the server at once, it tends to draw in the bad with the good. I'm sorry you were banned, it was one of the false positives that can slip through the cracks. I've unbanned you as of now, and hopefully you can accept my apology and will join us again. If not, I understand. Cheers,Jimmy

    Banned From Us 3480

I can assure you this isn't the case, and I'll look into the logs to see why the ban was placed. Hopefully you don't make this assumption every time someone posts that they were banned. I swear there are still a few quality-run servers out there. Cheers, Jimmy
  11. As a fellow owner/admin I agree with Splinter here. I can think of half a dozen instances in which just being able to cross reference other servers bans and complaints has come in handy with issues I've had crop up in my own server; furthermore, I've been able to use my server's logs and data to help other admin manage their own servers. I think having an easy access point for crucial data like this is one of the few things that helps hold together the administrative community. Not to sound like the little brother angling for attention--but without some quality owner/admin out there to properly manage servers I'm afraid we'll be dealing with servers that are not so maturely handled. To me, this seems like it would affect the player base, if they didn't have quality places to play the game they bought. I think this is a good idea, and a pretty reasonable request. I know it is asking the moderation staff to refit, refinish, and reorganize a portion of the forums. I also think that the amount of owner/admin who utilize this section is significantly lower than the population using other sections of the forums, which could be a reason to write us off. I get that. I just hope we can find a way to help keep this section easy to access, easy to sift through, and allow the people who use it to continue using it as one of the few tools we have left to combat the cheating and other issues that we stumble across. Cheers, Jimmy
  12. With the Arma2 sale on Steam, we've noticed a surge of new players joining US3480. Hell, the server was packed with 60 of 60 slots full almost all day yesterday. Even half a dozen or so folks playing in the wee hours now. We'd be happy to see you come join us! Cheers, Jimmy

    What happened to US3480?

I appreciate the feedback guys. I do realize that you're a group that plays together, so I understood that if one of you made the post--you all felt the same way (most likely). :P Noted, and will keep an open ear on this topic. Cheers, Jimmy

    What happened to US3480?

I think this is why you guys were seeing people logging into debug still. Lots of players will simply log off, or leave, when some cheeky skiddie wants to start the teleporting people around--then they log in a few days later and are still in debug.

    What happened to US3480?

Glad to hear you guys will be playing with us in the future. I have noticed your name in the server logs and report files, so I noticed you hadn't left (which is good). So far, you are the only ones to ask for the "last attacker" to be removed. I will definitely keep the idea on the back burner for now, but it was setup because so many players were asking for it. I'm sure you understand that features like this are one of those things that some people love and some people hate, but it's impossible to make everyone happy all the time. I'll keep it in mind! Cheers, Jimmy

    What happened to US3480?

Hey mate, Glad to see you're one of our regulars! It sounds like you had taken a hiatus for a while--and I'm glad to see you're coming back around. US3480 isn't any different than it was before. I still do frequent anticheat/filter updates, we ban from suspicious/malicious log activity a few times day, and the server is generally under a pretty watchful eye. That being said, we can't stop every single attack. It's a high traffic, and quite populated server, so much so that the amount of traffic in there far exceeds the amount of time we can spend watching the logs and banning players per the DayZmod Hosting Rules. Hopefully you aren't basing your entire experience with us off joining the server while it was under attack. Incidents like this happen, although it's too bad, it is simply part of running a server. In any case, the server is definitely not going to waste--we still manage it the best we can. Hopefully you and your friends come back and play with us soon, we'll be looking forward to it! Cheers, Jimmy

Looking for vanilla or Enhanced Vanilla

Hey mate, First off, I'm glad you found 3480 and gave us a shot. I'm sorry to hear (and slightly offended) that you think I do not care about combat loggers, and that the server has frequent crashes. I'd like to assure you that a love of time and effort does go into the server, and you'll notice that our server rank is quite high. I'm not sure you'll find another Official Hive server ranked as highly as ours--we even sit above many well populated and well-run private hives. As far as cheating/scripting/hacking goes--this is DayZmod. It's going to happen, but I can assure you the server is updated almost daily with improved anticheat filters and the offenders are banned. Naturally, they can't all be stopped. It's a reactive process, rather than proactive, and that's all I can say about that. I'd be happy if you would give 3480 a [second] chance, as it's got a great community and a lot of very fun regulars that make the experience worth it. If you're extremely worried about player death and loss of loot, I suppose the only servers that offer an experience like this would be smaller private hives. Being that you asked for advice on a populated server, 3480's rank is determined by traffic, so I'm not simply blowing smoke. Hope to see you around, and feel free to contact me if I can help in any way. Cheers, Jimmy

    US 3480 Ban. Mistake?

Just a simple mistake. Sorry for the accidental ban, but thanks for playing with us! You will not be banned for this in the future. Cheers, Jimmy

    US 3480 Ban Appeal

The amount of ground covered in the amount of time it was covered is the grounds for the ban. It appears from the report that you were either using ESP and speedhacking or otherwise teleporting yourself to kill players, as well as going directly from one player to another to another. Cheers, Jimmy

Returning to dayz but were is it ?

Cheers, Flux. As always, appreciate the nod of approval.
  21. I'm speaking of Chernarus, as well as America. How common to you think .50AE would be in either place, during a post apocalypse scenario? Obviously there is nothing to base this off, aside from speculation, but I'd suggest that "9mm" you've mentioned isn't 9x19 nato / 9mm luger but more than likely a 9x18 round that you'd use in a Makarov, Skorpion, or other soviet weapons, no? You and I aren't far off on what we're both saying, I think. It sounds as though we're both stating how difficult it would be to find ammo in the given-scenario of the game and I think this is entirely true. Ammunition, food, water, and fuel, would all be commodities that people would be willing to trade, steal, and even kill for. My main point was the fact that adding more guns (unless they were concentric with calibers already in the game) would end up being more novelty than they would useful items. Cheers, Jimmy
  22. I'll throw my $.02 in here... From a survival, or even post-apocalyptic scenario, it'd be less probable to find ammo than it is now. Stop and think about the last time you were at a gun shop (those of you who visit them) and scour your mind for the image of the ammo shelves. Do you recall what I do? An amassment of shotgun ammo, I'm sure. Probably some common calibers as well, but leaning towards civilian ammo--not your russian 5.45, 7.62 or nato 5.56 and 7.62 (they are not truly the same as .223 and .308 although most weapons will fire their civilian and nato counterparts--discussion for another topic). Perhaps a small amount of .45acp, 9mm luger/9x19, .308win, .223rem, and perhaps some other assorted hunting rounds such as .243, .270, and maybe a little .40s&w. These are common calibers by today's standards. Personally, I think it'd be great to have a wider selection of guns--but to do so I honestly feel like you'd have a wider selection of ammo. Not *more* available ammo. Essentially a greater risk of finding a gun, but having no ammunition to feed it. When was the last time you saw .50AE or 7.62x25 on a shelf for sale? As cool an idea as diverse weapons in-game is, the novelty would soon wear off when the only way to get ammo for that precious Desert Eagle is to wait till a cheater spawns with some and kill him/take some from a crate he scripted in. A fun idea, no doubt. Just not something I personally care for. I think there are more than enough calibers (some incorrect, as it stands) in the game already--and although I'm just one audacious ballbag who has too many opinions--I feel like there are others out there who see the small details and it doesn't sit quite well with them. Maybe not. Would adding more guns and ammo (especially what I refer to as novelty weapons) create more issues? I think so. My reply would be to add more common-caliber weapons if you really felt the need to have more and more guns just for the sake of having them. Things that will eat up 9x19, .45acp, 5.56, 5.45, 7.62 and things that could be a bit more plausible in a post-apocalyptic setting. Do you really suppose walking through the streets and houses of Russia in the given-scenario would yield cases of M240b ammo and smoke grenades? Hell, I'd like to live in a neighborhood like that! Sorry for the ramblings, I'm just another long-winded gasbag. Cheers, Jimmy
  23. Probably should have made note of this sooner, but US 3480 has move from it's former IP address to a new one. You can find the info in my sig, but for the sake of using some delicious colours in my post I will scribble it on here as well. Description: US 3480 Vanilla DayZ (as in: 50 slots of official hive, no b.s., no mods, just DayZ's plain old self) New IP: 173.234.233.178 New port: 2352 Thank you for playing with us, we appreciate all of your traffic--and enjoy having people to share our beans with. Cheers
