I doubt there was a ban issued simply for KoS in this server. I've passed this information along to the owner, who always works with players to resolve these issues. I hope to see this move forward in a respectful manner that makes everyone happy. Cheers, Jimmy

This may be a false positive, looking into it. For now I can't see "GrenadeHand" being used anywhere in DayZmod but I'm thinking we don't need a ban for it. Will post back.

Let's leave the threats at home. Sounds as though you were temp banned for questionable gameplay, and after Triton reviewed the logs and code necessary the ban was lifted. I assure you it's not worth holding a grudge over things like this. The server sees a lot of traffic--and it's not so simple a task to run as you may think. Not only do the admin pay for the server to provide this fun place to play, they also are held to a high standard of checking into every ban and reviewing an almost non-stop stream of logs/code to keep the server clean. The price we pay for security is suspicion. It's a high price to pay, but when things seem shady it's our job to act on them. Sorry for any confusion, but there is precious little data available to admin as it is--we do the best we can with what DayZmod gives us to work with. We would certainly appreciate it, if OP were to do this. I understand frustration, but I think the title doesn't suit the way this was resolved. Hopefully some folks are willing to do more than scan the title and assume it's true.

I see the point of your idea. Not tryin to piss down your back and tell you it's raining. Just wanted to offer a counter-opinion for discussions sake. If it was a feature in the game, it would be one that frustrates me, but that's my cross to bear. Cheers, Jimmy

I can understand the extreme survival point-of-view, and the idea that "if it might work, I'll do it to survive" type of scenario. I don't think it's feasible in-game, or truly feasible IRL either. There are too many complicated risks for either case. The little things about your cited video are where the proverbial "gotcha" exists. Each time you fire an improper cartridge, you are risking serious damage to the weapon and the shooter. It's not as simple as saying you should be able to fire similarly sized ammunition because you can get away with it occasionally. Just to have a chance to maybe fire one extra round in a firefight you would need a system in-game to cause a weapon malfunction, then a chance based weapon damage, then a chance based player damage. That's an awful lot to happen from a single mouse1 click, no? I know I'm just a dried up dirt bag, and I care entirely too much about weapons and survival and keeping things close to IRL circumstances (when it's feasible) and, yes, you technically can get away with firing improper caliber ammunition in certain cases--I just don't think it's worth it for the game. I would much rather see more focus going along the lines of getting all weapons and ammunition properly labeled, chambered, and used. Just $.02 from an audacious gas bag. Cheers, Jimmy

Wings, Thanks for clearing the air. I appreciate the effort taken, and as I said, I understand how frustrating things can be from that point of view. We've all been there. In any case, I'm glad we were able to resolve this with a level of maturity--I personally hold my admin staff and our server to a very high standard, and I tend to let those high standards reach into the forums as well. If there's a mature or professional way to handle things, I much prefer to do just that. Thanks for playing with us, we don't take donations for the server. We have a group pay set up, but I don't publicly post information for it--I'm not keen on doing that. I believe the information may be in the MOTD of the Ventrilo server, but I'd have to double check that. I don't want 3480 to come across as a pay-to-play type server, although I do appreciate the offer. I'll clear my forums inbox, it's probably overloaded with unban requests :P Cheers, Jimmy

If you've edited your mission file, or even decided to use a non-default one, be sure your instanceID is setup properly in the init.sqf (you'll need to uncpbo your mission file itself to find this). This will still let the lobby launch, but the mission cannot write to it's appropriate "hive" location, and you may have issues such as wait for host. Just an idea. Cheers, Jimmy

Hey mate, The very first thing I would try when it comes to "wait for host" issues is to (Save a backup) delete your mission file. Then replace them with default ones. I will tell you that in the times I have been running servers over the years, the cases in which a player is truthful and respectful are the ones that are most easily resolved. I understand your frustration, but I have to tell you, Mate, that I don't care much for posts that directly accuse the server and it's admin staff of being hostile and abusing their admin rights. I also dislike your first post that directly takes a personal shot at one of my admin staff and accuses us of "allowing children to run a server". I think this is bad taste, and not only does it cause more bickering on forums (which is needless) it slows down any proceedings on the issue. Please, in the future, if you're going to post a ban appeal--simply post a ban appeal. There's no need to point the finger. If you'd like to simply lodge a complain, that is also fine--but this post seems more like you're grieving about the server than doing either of the two aforementioned. As I said, I'll personally look into this--and you can feel free to send me a PM if you'd like to discuss this like men. I have no problem admitting when we've made a mistake (and you can feel free to verify this by checking with the players we've unbanned--or simply by our server's track record via these forums), but I will not tolerate needless flame wars. We'd be happy to see you become a regular at US3480. We run a populated vanilla dayz server on the official hive. Generally there are a good amount of players in the server, both bandit and survivor. To be honest, I would have liked to see this linked direct from an FTP host, or a direct DL link from your webspace. Seems a bit shamless to force users to first stop at your site, then click a second link to get to the download--but it's easy enough I guess.
