HFBServers.com- Worst Customer Service
TG ! Jimmy replied to Real_FFF's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hey mate, As to "how could this happen" it's simply a matter of support. Or lack thereof, as you've noticed. Don't confuse me for siding with HFB, because I'm not, but what I'll say is that running a Game Server Provider is a next-to-non-profit business. That being said, it's very difficult to find people (of any quality) to work support, since you can rarely pay them what their time would be worth. Having run a small GSP myself for a while, the struggles I had were almost always centered around support. I wound up hiring a few of my friends I trusted to act as a first tier of support, until I could personally handle all of the tickets that required more than a simply reply. As you can see, I created the above ticket on 18 May. It never received a reply. Like you, I was extremely upset. I think maybe at this point it's unfair to say "worst customer service" but I would say it's entirely fair to say "No Customer Support". I've always had good interactions with the support staff, General Manager, and CEO/Owner of HFB; however, they're clearly overrun with tickets and just can't be arsed. Lastly, there is no support system that's perfect; however, making more tickets about the same is always increases the queue and causes your ticket to sit idle long (as well as the ticket of other clients) and I suspect that this growing of the ticket-line has also been a serious factor. Think of the dozens of clients all wanting high priority support all at once making three or four tickets each--for the same issue--and the fact that HFB's entire support team seemingly has disappeared. Makes a bad mix. In any case, sorry for your troubles. You're not alone! HFB has always credited me downtime, I'd ask for the same treatment for your case. Cheers, Jimmy -
Glad you got it sorted! Feel free to post again if you have other issues, we'll try and help you along. Cheers, Jimmy

BattlEye Server Filters for DayZ Mod 1.8.4
TG ! Jimmy replied to facoptere's topic in Server Owners and Admins
Faco, Latest filter is still causing kicks within my server (103718 beta) for CreateVehicle: - #0 "Wire_cat1" Going to edit this within my own filter, just wanted you to know for the official ones. Cheers, Jimmy -
Dayz Commander won't allow me to play Panthera or Namalsk
TG ! Jimmy replied to Theivinghydra98's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Hey mate, First thing's I would try (with DZC) is: ++Remove any/all launch options (in settings via dayz commander) *Reinstalling your Arma patch *Reinstalling DayZ ++Launch to be sure DayZ is working *Reinstall your Namalsk mod, then launch. *Reinstall your Panthera mod, then launch. Do any of these things help? You could always wipe all arma/2/oa and start with fresh installs of them as well...but I'd guess reinstalling the mods should help. Cheers, Jimmy -
Arma 2 Will not let me downgrade
TG ! Jimmy replied to FrozenModerator's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Have you tried deleting (moving, renaming, et al) your \expansions\beta yet? What have you tried, mate? Are you using Steam at all, or only DZC? Help us help you! Cheers, Jimmy -
I don't know much about addons and the proprietary tools, but if you were to unCPBO your dayzserver.pbo file (which lives on your server in the @Hive\Addons\ directory) you would find a file called config.cpp there. Within the config.cpp file you will see code that looks like: class PBX : Ship { quantity = 1; }; class Smallboat_1 : Ship { quantity = 2; }; class Fishing_Boat : Ship { quantity = 2; }; class Smallboat_2 : Ship { quantity = 1; }; class MH6J_DZ : Air { quantity = 1; }; class UH1H_DZ : Air { quantity = 1; }; class AH6X_DZ : Air { quantity = 1; }; class Mi17_DZ : Air { quantity = 1; }; class AN2_DZ : Air { quantity = 1; }; class Motorcycle : AllVehicles {};Simply edit this file, create a .pbo of the dayzserver directory, delete the old one from your server and replace with your fresh new dayzserver.pbo that you've lightly coated in oil and left to bake in the sun...and you'll be all set. If you need a better walkthrough I can make an attempt and making some sense, but I prefer to be a gasbag. Cheers, Jimmy

Waiting for sever to start authentication
TG ! Jimmy replied to GoIIy's topic in Server Owners and Admins
Did this end up going anywhere? Did you get sorted? Did you give up and crawl into a hole? We still care! Cheers, Jimmy -
I've been unable to reach anyone there at all for just under a month. I don't hold high hopes for hearing back, at least not in time to save anyone grief. If you're able to manually update your server to 1.8.1 I recommend doing so, as no updates seem to be forthcoming via TCadmin. If I hear anything I'll report back. Cheers, Jimmy

Krixes Self BB Messes up my server
TG ! Jimmy replied to Victor31's topic in Server Owners and Admins
Probably best in the future to consider adding any/all scripts *one* at a time. This way you have time to adequately verify it's working or not. Once you get it working, you can move on to the next. If you're getting kicks, you know it's an issue--and don't have to wipe anything. Also...you shouldn't ever have to mess with your DB for script issues. But I imagine that lesson has been learned! Cheers, Jimmy -
To go one step further, Steam beta just updated yet again a couple hours ago. 124879 is now the Steam version. Which I'm currently stuck on, and just trying to find good workaround that other people will be able to pull off. Sweet sweet misery. Cheers, Jimmy edit: deleting all of your local content with Steam, and using DayZ commander to reinstall (not Steam) then only going as high as 103718 via DZC may work. I have one of my users testing this now. Also, there seems to be some pretty consistent errors when swapping from a DZC installed DayZ to Steam, in which you'll want to navigate to your documents directory and delete the Arma2 and Other Profiles directories. Just some of the many fun times!

I misquoted in my previous post, and probably didn't help. Let me first apologize, and also agree with SeaWeed's above post. Moving on! DayZ Commander is causing some confusion at the moment, at least for folks playing my server. DayZ Commander is saying "Latest" for beta patch 112555, which is not the latest beta patch; therefor, not the patch you should be using if your favorite server is running an older (103718) or newer (124802) version! The most current beta is the one available via Steam, and is labeled 124802. This means 1.63.124802 is the latest version you'd need to have running in order to connect to servers that have been updated. Razor has written a very straightforward how-to in order to get your client updated, and as an additional note, it's worth considering using Steam to use/play DayZmod. If we are using Steam, it will keep your client files updated for you and avoid future issues similar to the ones we're facing. Clients: install build 124802 to your pc for the true latest files (and according to SeaWeed's testing if your server runs 124802 you will need to as well) Admin/Servers: take a look at SeaWeed's above post to see which version you're running and be certain your clients know to run this. Be prepared to upgrade to the latest patch soon! The longer we wait, the more confusion we're breeding among our ever-shrinking vanilla community! Cheers, Jimmy

Beta Patch confusion notes: I can only speak for my server, but I think if other Vanilla servers decide to join this--we should be able to band something together that will help a bit with uniformity. As of 9 June, using server patch 103718 is the most stable option. Using in conjunction with client patch 116523 will yield the most stable results. The latest patch currently available on DayZ Commander (112555) is too buggy to run efficiently, and is being worked on. (if it makes you feel better, 103718 and 116523 are what we are using for testing/dev server patches atm, and it's confirmed to work best). We (aka Razor) did send word off to have DayZ Commander force 116523 as it's 'latest' patch rather than 112555 which will help some client-side issues (at least for the folks using DayZ Commander). If you can pass along to your friends, it may help some. Other Vanilla server Admin, if this is agreeable with your servers it may help strike a bit of uniformity. If not, I'll sit here quietly drinking my coffee and stalking Kichi through the woods. Cheers, Jimmy Going to generate a new post that should clear this up

Need Help Fast! Problem With my Server!
TG ! Jimmy replied to Victor31's topic in Server Owners and Admins
Typically speaking, it's best to add scripts (if any...) one by one to be certain you're not breaking anything along the way. Then you can easily remove one and continue along the path until you have a working server. Sounds as though you may benefit from reinstalling the server and starting from scratch (save your database obv). This way you can guarantee your server is running properly--and you can more effectively test your scripts. I know you said you don't have time for that, but if you want it to work properly I recommend taking the time to do it right. It will save you a lot of headaches. Just my $.02 -Jimmy -
The Steam Patch is currently not altogether stable enough. We're still bouncing back after a serious downtime of the server--and I'm trying to make as few changes as possible. Until there's either a clear consensus from the Vanilla Community, or a better option Via Steam Patch--we'll be hanging tight here. Willing to work anything out though, it's just about keeping things stable. Cheers, Jimmy

BattlEye Server Filters for DayZ Mod 1.8.4

Was just going to post the CreateVehicle bugs and fixes, but checked your filters and you had already done it. Good work staying out ahead of the problem! Cheers, Jimmy -
BattlEye Server Filters for DayZ Mod 1.8.4
TG ! Jimmy replied to facoptere's topic in Server Owners and Admins
Faco, Kick for packing a tent: 06.06.2014 03:38:14: playername (IP) GUID- #0 "PVDZ_obj_Destroy" = ["0","0"] It's the same function being called as the stash upgrade. To the publicvariable filter I've done: !=PVDZ_obj_Destroy Hopefully this should define the function, so when it's called by the client it is only logged, since it's added to the first line which has a 5= value -
Victor, Are you still having issues? I'm happy to lend a hand, if I can, but...you've only got three posts. Not to sound pessimistic but I'm afraid you may have come and gone aleady. Are you still here? IS THIS REAL LIFE?! Cheers, Jimmy

BattlEye Server Filters for DayZ Mod 1.8.4
TG ! Jimmy replied to facoptere's topic in Server Owners and Admins
Yah, Faco and I end up finding and fixing dozens of these. Especially with new builds. Not a major deal, and yes the definition is the problem with this particular kick. I've added it and logged it for now, but I'm sure Faco will be updating the official filters before the day is out. <3, Jimmy -
BattlEye Server Filters for DayZ Mod 1.8.4
TG ! Jimmy replied to facoptere's topic in Server Owners and Admins
Upgrading stashes (1.8.1) currently kicks players for PubVar #0 which I think is related to the destroying of the old stash. Calling "PVDZ_obj_Destroy" seems to be what generates the kick. Edit: I don't see a PVDZ_obj_Destroy in line 0, or anywhere for that matter. Doesn't seem that it's being intentionally blacklisted, so I've set a 5=PVDZ_obj_Destroy to see if I can't log it without the kick for now. Cheers, Jimmy -
Hit the nail on the head. I had a GSP years back, high-end Valve games servers (TF2, CS:, etc.) and you're right--not worth it at all. It's literally impossible, as you mentioned, to cover costs, pay support, and make money. I have nothing but respect for anyone willing to do it. Having spent time on both sides of the coin certainly provides perspective... Cheers, Jimmy

HFB's understaffed it would appear. I know it's no help to you know, but I put in a ticket on the 18th of last month (May) and it's never been answered (as of 6, June). My server experienced the same downtime (when the hive had issues) although my issues started days before that and lasted a few days after. I took nearly a week of downtime, and we dropped from 19th in DayZ server ranks to whatever you see in my sig now. 289th, as of this post. I can't very well speak out against HFB, as they've been a great host to me personally, and have always given me what I asked for. It just seems as though they are buried under an insurmountable wall of tickets currently, and won't be making quick replies. I'm dealing with it, but I am not saying you should have. I've been there for nearly two years and our server is (errr was?) well established. Just my $.02 Cheers, Jimmy

Seeking some one to run a Server.
TG ! Jimmy replied to xiValveHD's topic in Server Owners and Admins
I know it's not what you're looking for, but if you have trouble getting a server up and populated--feel free to join us on the official hive. We've got a pretty greasy bunch of bandits, as well as a number of self proclaimed heroes, scumbags, pirates, unicorns, strippers, and whatever other hilarious titles you'd want. Of course I'm joking about most of this, except we do have a great bunch of lads that play here. Come join us if you'd like. I know you'd rather get your own thing going, no offense (none taken) if you want to do your own thing. Just thought I'd offer. Cheers, Jimmy -
New Vanilla Chernarus Server - Know of any?
TG ! Jimmy replied to Chaney.A's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
US3480 is up and running with DayZmod 1.8.1 if you're still on the hunt for a place to play some vanilla dayz on the official hive. Cheers, Jimmy
