Script Restriction #253 Help!
TG ! Jimmy replied to killersquires's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Find line #253 in your scripts.txt file and either comment it out--or have it log without kicking. You haven't really described what exactly is the issue, but I hope this is of some use.. cheers -
Vehicles not respawning
TG ! Jimmy replied to Lumberjack (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Cheers to R4Z0R for all the work here, it doesn't go unnoticed! :beans: :beans: :beans: -
I see your side of the story, but consider the world after the breakdown of the fabric of society. Initially people would still try and hold true the things that make our world the way it is--but even that will break down. Banditry truly would take over the vast majority of the land until organization took over again. The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun (in the given scenario) is a good guy with a gun. Until there is a viable alternative, the bandits will bandit. it's the easiest route.

Gaming pc,Yh another one lol,but this is different
TG ! Jimmy replied to Jordanskar (DayZ)'s topic in Technology/Programming
Leaving the side off the case really isn't an improvement in cooling. Actually, in some cases it can have the opposite effect. The air pressure in a case (from air being inducted to the box, and exhausted from it) can create a much better environment for cooling in most cases. The stock cooler itself will be fine, assuming you don't OC the rig; however, I would stick to large (120mm or 140mm) case fans and aim to run them around 40-50% to create a nice airflow within the chassis. Cheers  -
The tale of the great search for a server host
TG ! Jimmy replied to dayz247's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Understood. I'm a big fan of the added features as well, but for all intents and purposes we don't need it for our community--so we stick to a GSP package. Hopefully your experience is better this time around, matey! Cheers -
The tale of the great search for a server host
TG ! Jimmy replied to dayz247's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Tried HFB servers yet? Every review is going to be subjective, and every GSP has their pros and cons; however, HFB's been pretty good to me. I've probably put in over a dozen support tickets asking for XYZ access and inquiring about various things. They recently upgraded all of their servers (which moved my IP, which is my one complaint) to a "DDoS-Proof" network, so their "ultimate dayz" package offers a 50 slot official hive for $30/mo. Like you said: desync happens, that's just DayZ. I wouldn't base your whole experience off random desync, assuming it's random. Sorry to hear about your first few (nightmare) servers, man. I can only imagine that really ruined the experience for you--and made it tough to build a fun userbase to play with. Cheers -
For those uncomfortable building their own pc
TG ! Jimmy replied to Citrus's topic in Technology/Programming
For all intents and purposes these "build a custom PC for you" sites are ... ok. They do alleviate the stress of building a machine for people who aren't willing to do it; but honestly, it seems that at this point almost everyone knows *someone* who can walk them through a PC build, if not do it for them. If someone 100% doesn't want to build a custom PC, they will often times just go buy a Dell or Gateway "gaming" pc anyhow. It's sad. -
Hit our server up, it's official hive on Veteran difficulty. There's a good group of regulars there (despite our recent IP migration that killed traffic) so you should be able to find people to play with--and you can join our teamspeak if you'd like. Cheers

I personally had that same CPU, and you can quite easily overclock it to 3.8ghz 100% rock solid. The extra 1000mhz will certainly make a favorable difference for you. I'd suggest poking around the Tom's Hardware forums a bit to find people with a motherboard similar to yours so you can find some proven OC settings. Cheers

Error while joining the server
TG ! Jimmy replied to StealerSlain's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling your game versions yet? I know it sounds simple--but it helps a lot of errors. -
The best quality with my videocard.
TG ! Jimmy replied to marshalsmit's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Trial and error, mate. Simply max all the settings out, then decrease them incrementally until you've got a an acceptable sustained FPS. Not sure what else we could do for ya? That card should be able to hand very high settings without issue. edit: just my $.02 (and not to be dick) but I would start with max settings on a default card clock speed before overclocking -

TG ! Jimmy replied to TG ! Jimmy's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
To anyone who might care, the server has been "upgraded" via HFB and now lives on a new IP. As much of a pain this is--I guess moving forward it will be a good thing. New connection info: 173.234.233.178:2352 -
I do, and have owned many platforms. I'd generally disagree with the "grain of sand on the cartridge" instance you've listed; however, for all intents and purposes I think the amount of user-related malfunctions where Generic Survivor A finds an AR platform rifle, and improperly uses it, would likely be running rampant. How many times have you see someone hold the magazine whilst firing and not be able to figure out why their rifle doesn't cycle their $7 box of steel cased ammo? lol Suffice it to say that it's a good thing this is a video game, as the people that own and properly maintain their firearms wouldn't be enough to fill a server. Let the bambis frolic in the sun where ignore is bliss, and .45acp revolver speedclips magically turn into 1911 magazines.

One of my guys (Triton) hit the -1,000,000 mark and the monitor doesn't even display it. It gets pissed once you become the ultimate bandit. Personally, I'm a hero. Nothin to brag about here. Enjoy!

In the rare event someone is passing by this thread--the server is offline for an "upgrade" at the moment. Stick with us, it will be up soon...albeit with a new IP and port. Can't say that I'm all too thrilled about that. -

Shamelessly self-promoting with a quick bump -
This is a really cool way to build on the survival aspect of the game. There is a give and take on the "time" required to do these tasks, of course. Dehydrating, freezing, curing, etc. take a fair amount of time to do (properly) and I think opening the door to this world could be a proverbial can of worms. That's not to say this isn't a great idea, because I think there are survivalists out there who are nauseated by the "find a can of beans & eat it" side of the game. How else can we expand survival? What methods are actually proven to be effective? These suggestions are as good as gold. Things as simple as coming across a tree that yields fruit, or farm with some vegetables isn't unreasonable to consider. Why must everything come from a can? Catching rainwater from the gutter of a house during a rainstorm seems fairly reasonable. Not the most palatable drink, but in a post-apocalypse world, I think we'd all take the gamble on it. Hell, I would. Something that's (sorry to hijack, but it's on-topic) also been a hot button in society lately is "Doomsday Preppers". Are we to assume that no one in Chernarus (or what-have-you) had any food storage? No food stored in buckets with oxygen absorbers? The introduction of MRE's I found to be a much-needed addition, and could be expanded upon with MRE heaters, cases of MRE's, and potable water purification tablets. I think small amounts of items along these lines could provide a little more "surival oriented" gameplay if that is the intended direction. Just my $.02

Hey, man--we've got a small tight-knit group of players that tends to meet most nights of the week. The server (in my sig) does plenty of traffic--so there's always people to play with. Check out the recruitment thread if you'd like, or join the teamspeak (ts.mainepc.net) and chat us up. We're taking new members that seem to fit with with the group. Cheers

Feel free to check us out, Sir. We've got a (fairly) high ranked server that generates plenty of traffic, it's New York based, and we have a teamspeak setup (ts.mainepc.net). I've got a recruitment thread running, if you care. If not, best of luck to ya! Cheers
