Looking for a good Veteran Server
TG ! Jimmy replied to muffy_duffy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you're into Vanilla DayZ you could come play with us on US 3480, although it would seem you're mainly looking for private hives. To reply in your requested format: US 3480 173.234.233.178:2352 Veteran Vanilla DayZ Hope you find what you're looking for! Cheers -
You cannot play/edit this mission, it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted. tavi, kh_dayztaviana, kh_maule
TG ! Jimmy replied to Villas's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Hello & Welcome, You'll get that when you have a bad install or you're missing .pbo files within /addons/ in your Arma2OA directory. Uninstall & reinstall all of your game/mod files and try it again--sounds like you've missed an update. Cheers, -Jimmy -

Use for razors and toilet paper
TG ! Jimmy replied to tylerwatkins369's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'd rather see the hunting knife allowed as a viable weapon before the razor, to be honest. Also: Agreed  -
Welcome aboard, Some useful info to drum up some traffic for your server may be the server name -- map -- location -- time zone -- server time -- public/private -- etc. People will be a lot more inclined to play if you speak a bit about what it "is" and not just drop off the connection info! Hope you're able to get some traffic in there soon, if you need help with any admin stuff be sure and check out /Server General/ and post in that forum if need be! Cheers,
-
You'll want to put in a support ticket with whoever your server is hosted through, there's really not much anyone here can do. Sorry
-
At risk of sounding like a broken-record: have you tried reinstalling arma patch/dayz yet? Sounds like a missing/corrupt file if this happens on every server. If it's just on one server, probably a bad mission file.
-
First thing I would wonder is which video drivers you're using? Have you updated them recently? If yes, try rolling back to a previous one--if "no" then try using a new driver for the 6770 and see if that helps. Have you monitored CPU activity whilst playing DayZ? Have you monitored RAM activity whilst playing DayZ? Is DayZ installed on the SSD or your storage drive?

How important is the model of a motherboard?
TG ! Jimmy replied to dulix11's topic in Technology/Programming
If that's the route you go, I would imagine you wont need to (or wouldn't be able to) change out the mobo. Unless of course you buy a manufactured PC by a big name (dell, gateway, etc) and want to put in a performance board. Not that it really makes a whole lot of sense to buy one of those for gaming, but you see where I'm goin with this? If you'd like--shoot me a PM when you're ready to buy, and I can help you narrow down a quality rig. Or at least help pick out parts that will be conducive to building a gaming PC. Better to buy it piece by piece and get a high performance rig than to buy a cheap one and try to upgrade it. Cheers -
Tried reinstalling Arma2/Arma2 OA? It's telling you that your machine doesn't have the required files to play the mission--I would assume something's been deleted/overwritten/corrupted. A reinstall is typically what I'd do to fix this. Cheers

Will updating kick innocent players?
TG ! Jimmy replied to scottyhead100@googlemail.com's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
If you run across filters that kick players for no reason (or a reason that you don't wish them to be kicked for) track down the "Kicked for _______ restriction #__" and change the "5" value to a "1" and it will still log what they've done, but not kick them for it. Filters will not ban players. Cheers -
Looking for other server admins to ask a few questions.
TG ! Jimmy replied to hydrochetta's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hey mate, glad to see you're doing due diligence before diving into running a server on your own. Far too many people try to do it, then realize it's more work than play--and let the server die off. Or worse yet, go admin crazy and ban people with insufficient reasoning. If you'd like, you could jump into my server (info in my sig) and check out vanilla DayZ. I've done extensive work to keep the cheating to a minimum, and most players report that my server runs great for them with fewer cheaters than normal. Of course, saying this means nothing--you're welcome to see for yourself. I host with HFB servers. They have quality hardware on a self-proclaimed "DDoS Proof Network" that seems to run nicely. I have had good experiences with customer support, and I would recommend them as a host for sure. I believe there is a 24-48 hour setup period, so when you sign up for your server expect to wait a tic--but it's worth it. The TCadmin panel can be a bit daunting if you're not familiar with game server admin, but it's really not too tough to learn, and there's plenty of us out here (myself included) who are available to help. Do you use IRC at all? There's a #DayZ channel in the gamesurge network that dozens of us rot away in all day. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions about server admin, I'd be happy to help. Cheers, hope to see you out there soon! -Jimmy -
Best way to update filters?
TG ! Jimmy replied to scottyhead100@googlemail.com's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hey there, 1. Download the latest and greatest filters you wish to use 2. Using the FTP of your server, find your /BattlEye/ directory (which should already contain all the filters). 3. Upload your new filters to this directory 4. Use your fav. RCON tool to run commands: loadscripts & loadevents 5. Drink a pint and enjoy the updated filters ++If you don't have FTP access, you may have an admin panel access where you can 'edit' files. Use this to paste in your new filters. ++If you don't have RCON access, you can always restart the server. Cheers, -
Thank you, Brent.

How important is the model of a motherboard?
TG ! Jimmy replied to dulix11's topic in Technology/Programming
In reference to motherboards, there are things to take into consideration: -Form factor. You're going to put it into a PC case, if you have a micro atx tower, you need an mATXboard to fit in it. Etc. Do your research here. Easy enough. -Socket (this is specific to the CPU you intend to use. Each CPU is made to a standard "socket", be sure to know the socket of your CPU and start there when choosing a mobo. -Memory type. If you already have your RAM sorted, be sure you get a board that will accommodate that particular memory--else buy new RAM (memory). -Slot types (Sata, PCI-E, etc). Your hard drives are most likely SATA, if you want to use a new generation SATA6G hdd, you'll need a SATA3 (aka 6g) compatible board. -Be sure the PCI-Express type of your board matches that of your video card (boards tend to be backwards compatible here, so an older card would work in a newer board but not vice versa) All of those above things are mandatory for getting a board that suits your needs. Once you've sorted these things out, you can worry about brands/colors/features etc. You get what you pay for, I always recommend allocating the largest part of the PC build's budget into the CPU/Mobo/Video. These are the things that will dictate performance and compatibility moving forward (for the most part). SLI (nvidias multi gpu config) and Crossfire (AMD's solution) refer to using multiple video cards/gpu's in your rig. Yes, you need a board that will allow this if you would like to use 3+ monitors--and be certain to have two matching video cards. Typically I don't recommend it to people, because the gain in performance you achieve vs. the amount of money you spend is very rarely worth it. Price to performance ratio goes down for every extra video card you buy. You can, however, run multiple monitors off a single video card--you do not need to have SLI / Crossfire to have more than one monitor. -
Danny, Pretty entertaining! I really like the exit into the DayZ logo, sharp stuff! Cheers

g36c not sure if its a great gun

You'll have plenty more opportunities to make both good and bad choices. It's just loot, you'll get more! Enjoy your time out there--and stay safe. Cheers -
g36c not sure if its a great gun
TG ! Jimmy replied to jdtherocker's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's a quality gun, and I like the sound of it. If you didn't have any 40mm grenades for the M203 there's really not a whole lot of difference between the two aside from the sights. Cheers -

We've got room for more if you'd care to play with us. Stop by the server, see how it pings for you--see if you like it :D Cheers

Good morning! (or whatever time of day it is for you) Lack of a "real" GPU (for lack of a better term) is the biggest issue you've got. Turn every setting down, as Chris suggested. In your upcoming build, be certain you're focusing on an i5 (or better) and quality GPU with plenty of performance headroom. Cheers
