  1. erm..... not sure about churches but i did glitch through a wall on the shipwreck and managed to escape by jumping back through another wall. I take it he may have tried that already though :blush:

    I get that, was just putting it out there that even lower end PC's can run SA just as well as the Mod at the sacrifice of some 'prettiness'. Though it depends on the card holder if they will shell out for another game or not. @ thedogfoodyayho - The barracks count would be no more OP than some of the overwatch servers I've played that have probably 30+ barracks buildings and I believe that Chernarus+ has only 14. 3 x Balota airfield 4 x Pavlovo Military Base 2 x Zelenogorsk 3 x Veresnik Military Base 2 x NWAF That's all of them I think unless I've missed some :huh: But again I'm pretty sure that someone somewhere will be taking cues from SA's map and reproducing it in the Mod. I'd be surprised if it wasn't being worked on already.
  3. Because it's not done in game. You use your video card drivers to set up a game profile which forces gamma increase in the game without the need to touch anything in the game settings. If you get what I mean ;)
  4. Yup, would be nice, unfortunately you are limited to 2GB of ram usage right now. But you can set up launch parameters to increase this value in the steam properties of the game. This worked wonders for Arma 2&3 but didn't see that much of a difference with SA. Any difference I think is there may be placebo :huh:
  5. I've had the same thoughts. Why can't you just press 'L' as you could in arma 2. Now if you go into the 'Infantry Weapons' drop down in the control assignments section of the configuration menu it has one called 'Headlights on/off' yet last time I checked you don't have headlights on an infantry weapon, you do however find flash lights. Now this is still in development so maybe they haven't got around to it yet but I'm sure that this will eventually be changed so that it functions your weapon light and there will be an option available to bind your Bipod. As always, we just have to wait. I'm happier to let them get on with the bigger issues for now ;)
  6. I'll admit here that I'm not 100% sure on how they have their servers are structured. By a dedicated server you can assume that the hardware is running that game server exclusively. What is more realistic is you will find one unit running 5 servers (random number, as I said I'm not 100%) yet that in itself can still be considered a dedicated server and these units are all over the world. Then what you get is the privately hired servers which you can expect to find one unit running not only multiple game servers for DayZ but also other servers for other games which could end up being over 10 servers. Now these systems will be good but for the host company the money is made by generating maximum income so they are stretched to the absolute limit but by whatever agreements are made these are then linked with the official hive. Now back to Ping. It doesn't matter what your particular ping is because there can be multiple players with pings over 200 on your server and in your case it's them dragging you down as the server is doing millions of calculations every second trying to ensure all characters, loot, zombies etc are on the same page so it waits for the rest to catch up which is giving you a yellow chain. You will get red chain when you are the one doing catch up basically. Now to explain that further Yellow is essentially lag where you are waiting for events to catch up or you are slightly out of sync, red is complete desync where info is not being received/processed by the server and shit will rubberband once connection is re-established. Now unfortunately there is nothing much that can be done about it and this is seen in pretty much every online game ever, they just dont give you pretty coloured chains to let you know it's happening. What would be nice is some sort of internet smoothing capacitor where all the data is taken in one area, synced and flowed to the game server fluidly and the same on the way out back to you but that would cause massive amounts of latency and would break everything near and dear to gamers. Basically as far as lag and desync are concerned we have to get used to it and accept it because untill everyone has 100Mb up and down internet and all gaming servers are set up in farms, in space equidistant from everyone, everywhere, this shit's going to be around.

  8. Sounds like it's your end. Is it possible that a virus scan was going in the back ground, an update was downloading or possibly the computer doing a back up?
  9. The main cause of de-sync is because you have multiple players with different internet capabilities running different pings. Your FPS can change server to server based on just that. What is really needed is ping matching where you cannot join a server if your ping averages over 100 but then that causes issues of decreased server populations and the possibility of the game being unavailable to a massive amount of people. Also the official servers run pretty well to be honest, it's the private hired ones which are linked to the official hive that cause most issues as they are mostly cheap unless a big community pays enough to ensure the appropriate hardware and connectivity is in place.
  10. To be honest I've never had much in the way of the issues you're experiencing. I suggest taking a look at your hardware and ISP first before registering on here and making this your first post <_<
  11. Well gamma change can be forced through driver settings on GPU's so removing the option won't help. There will just be a Metric Fuck Ton (Standard unit of measurement in Scotland) of Google searches on how to do it. Though for me and others in the same situation cannot reap the benefits of Gamma increase if playing in windowed mode. Though I will say the game is unrealistically dark as most peoples eyes can adjust to see pretty well in near pitch black in real life. I'd like to see the nights a little brighter outside but keep the impenetrable darkness to those areas where there is virtually no ambient light, such as in buildings.
  12. Nice story dude. I play in windowed as Playing in 5760x1080 messes with performance so cannot even do the gamma trick so night time is a real threat. Zombies are pretty hard to spot. I get why for most this would seem like boring game play but it's not all about running around looking for people to shoot. I like a mix of both and like to attempt to interact but here is a fine example of one of the many ways DayZ can make you feel whether the server is full or not.

    There are so many people out there that have figured out how to add buildings, roads, scenery etc that it won't be long before some makes a very similar copy of the Chenarus+ map to the Mod. Right now though I would hope that they keep as much of Standalone to themselves as it's good for sales and the more money coming in helps with increased development and team building so that things can move along faster. Though with all the money that's come in in such a short amount of time I hope that things start to make real progress on a month by month basis from here onwards. One issue that will arise though is performance will be reduced as SA is far better optimized than the mod. You don't need a military grade gaming rig to run SA, you just have to be prepared to run on lower graphics settings. But for the mod there will be a lot more to render so everyone will feel the pain.
  14. Only the most hardcore of 'eazy mode' exploiters or those who want a survivor character and a bandit character will do this. IMO it's fine as they have legally bought a copy and I can't see why it would even be legal to ban someone for using a legitimately purchased second copy.

    Simple. No. Realistic weapon capability is essential to authentic gameplay. You want to loot somwhere? Take your chance like everyone else.
  16. You sound like a serial Combat Logger who doesn't want to lose said 'Sweet Hoodie', defending the rights of those exploiting a game feature that removes authenticity from gameplay. You sound like a Fail and your outburst leads me to hope that you hit the uninstall button sooner rather than later.
  17. There are so many and they all have many, many glitches. If you want over the top deathmatch style PvP then play the Mod 'Overwatch' If you want a hard life then play 'Aftermath' If you want a mix where building a base can take DayZ (see what I did there) then Play 'Epoch' This vid is Standalone and apart from a lack of options as far as gear is concerned it's the best optimized and in my opinion more fun than the rest. But that's maybe because I've played the rest to death now.
  18. Lol. This is not an E-Peen contest, just stating facts and giving you an insight as to what it actually takes to run something like this and expect good FPS. You started it by scoffing at the performance based on your system spec. Mine is a far cry from what some people are running and I have no problems accepting that. Also for your reading pleasure. Have you ever donated blood? Well that escalated quickly, didn't know PC knowledge made you retarded :huh: But hey, I do just fine with an i7 3930K @ 4.5 GHz and 2 x 7970's getting plenty of FPS at max settings. :P And FYI, Haswell processors are not the best for gaming and really bad for overclocking regardless of what 'Stores' try and tell you. Believe me, been there, done that, sold on eBay.
  20. 1 - Ok, so you want it put back to the way Arma 2 was then. 2 - There aren't that many complaints on the hopping to gear up, it's more the Combat logging and Ghosting which was just as common in the Mod for hived servers. Loot system is fine, no need for loot to respawn every 5 mins, just adds lag. 1 Spawn per session would be far more realistic. 3 - Hit Tab once in a while. there is an indicator telling you if you're Healthy, Hungry, Thirsty, Bleeding as well as the notifications on the bottom left of the screen. Learn to look after your character correctly instead of wanting a HUD 4 - Are you for real? Guess what dude. I'm regenerating blood right now.... in real life. Now for the shocker...... so are you. 5 - Again.... are you for real? Devs have done excellent work so far because if you put all those enter-able buildings in ArmA 2 then you would be lucky to get 5 FPS in the cities. Your system spec is not as great as you believe for this type of game so really I think you're doing well getting what you're getting now. Also, engine is massively different and better optimized regardless of your beliefs. 6 - Agreed, I'm one that carefully selects targets based on threat or situation but KoS is a legitimate playstyle and they bought the game so they can play it however they want within the confines of the parameters. In other words, don't script. And in reference to your final passage. Making suggestions and participating in discussion/debate in a mature manner will get you a lot further than Bitching, Moaning, QQ'ing and stamping your feet like a horrible little snot goblin. This is Early Access Alpha, time will fix most things as time does for Whisky. Be patient and Calm your tits.
  21. I'm all for as real as possible but like others have said, within reason. For example, weapon maintenance. Now I would like to see something along the lines of reliability tables where a weapon will function flawlessly (or not) depending on how you look after it. Now lets throw the idea of a basic Field strip and clean. Requirements - Screwdriver, Pliers, Oil (now oil doesn't exist in the game yet but I'm sure it could be added without insane levels of coding) and Rags. Simply have these items in your inventory and right click weapon, select clean weapon. Animation (nothing fancy), time taken - 3 minutes. And that's good for an Infantry soldier so as a Civ it could take an age but let's keep it reasonable. Now that to me is adding realism and simulation without being 'Ultra realistic' which would take massive amounts of coding, artwork and animation involving a 1st person perspective to look at the weapon, grab screwdriver, pop pins, extract bolt etc etc. That is ultra realistic but then that would ruin the game for a lot of people. I really wouldn't mind it but final release would probably be 5 years away if they went down that route. Now that's one example. Next, as I've said in a different post, if heli's were introduced then I'd expect no less than a full simulation (Taken from ToH) requiring a comprehensive start up and shut down procedure and max difficulty meaning absolutely no prompts or aids. This adds ultra realism and means that there will be very few who can perform such a task making those who can a valuable team member. As I said in the other post, you want to fly, you better have the training. Now I know that I'm basically contradicting myself here but in my twisted mind these are two completely different scenarios where one is easily performed by anyone and is an absolute vital part of the game and survival and the other is a valuable skill that will take time and effort to appropriately master to separate yourself from the masses and give you something to brag about, a feeling of accomplishment, total immersion and value for money satisfaction. (Yes, twisted mind indeed ;) ) As the poll is just now I can't vote as the options are too far apart and at the end of the day it comes down to individual perspective and what one mans balance (dirty word in gaming) is another mans gamebreaker :blush: EDIT:Saw you added another option :thumbsup:

Unfortunately the database is struggling to keep up with player updates (or something like that) and if you connect really fast after a disconnect, be it of your own choice or getting kicked off the server the your data is not yet located and processed so it thinks you're a fresh spawn and the character is lost. It's happened to me a few times and there are a lot of threads on the subject up and running just now. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do now but start gearing up again I'm afraid. The only consolation you can get is the fact that you're not alone and it's happened to a lot of people. Hopefully this is sorted soon.

So after reading through it a couple of times, shotgunning a RedBull, reading it once more and pausing briefly to wipe the blood that has started flowing from my left eye I think I can translate this........ Maybe :huh: Basically somewhere there is a request for more PvE style servers. A suggestion of roaming zombie hordes along the highways. More Zeds in cities to keep the bandito's occupied. Disappointment at the current KoS meta and complaints of Combat Logging, server hopping and ghosting. It is finished off with an invitation to join a server by the name of 'Modern Vikings' but if you don't play nice (e.g KoS) then he's going to set the boys on you..... I think :huh:
