  1. Well, the thing that really irritated me about it was my group and I were collecting a bunch of parts for a car, we all finally got guns (after a couple hours of us getting our shit together), then the rest of my group was like, "oh, lol, he gave us an SUV. He's funny! He'll leave us alone!" Sigh...Four hours of work wasted. Because he killed us all.
  2. Username: SmilingBounder Server: US #500 (1.7.2.5) [VET][GMT +8] Multiplay :: sipTippy Time/Date: Aug. 16, 2012, approx 11:30pm EST Desc: Immortal hacker with a golden gun was spawning items around komorovo, such as a chopper and SUV. He killed four of us, teleported our boat onto land, before finally dying somehow. Wasn't able to get screens. :(

    Regarding US 403

I can't find any way to delete this, but I did wind up getting a chance to talk with Roasthawkmoon. Their server rebooted and we got a chance to speak and we hashed it out. Turns out, there was someone that was hacking and crashing their vehicles, and they assumed it was me. I never mentioned the part about the time shifting, his friends were hostile until he started speaking, but the fact is, they paid me, at the very least, lip-service so I could get my shit and get out. Maybe they're good. But I don't know of any script that just crashes or blows up vehicles...yet. Maybe it's a new one. Anyway, that's what they claimed, "some hacker was blowing up our vehicles". I still think it's weird. But whatever. I got my tent. EDIT: This is what I was using to cross-reference possible/feasible hacks: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/55030-hackers-what-you-need-to-know/. The logic is sound, but it doesn't detail what could have been done within the past few days. So, don't hate these guys just because.
  4. A friend of mine and I were playing on Aug. 1st on this server with minimal problems. Aug. 2nd, however, we invited other friends to play here, my first friend and I had found a boat, and set up a tent. Our group of friends and I thought it a good idea to set up a camp on this server. Then, my second friend and I, on Aug. 2nd, started to get booted because of "Error #79". We weren't sure what that was, so my 2nd friend went back to the server he usually played on and I went and had dinner. After dinner, my 2nd friend and I had decided that maybe his server he had been playing on might be a better fit. I figured that was cool, so I logged into US 403 to start the trek (I had died) to our tent to transfer it. That's when the kicks started. Initially, I spawned in Elektro and noticed Roasthawkmoon flying around. NBD. I tried to stay out of the way, and eventually found my way, along the coast, to either Kamyshovo or Solichny - it was one of the two. The time was around 1:39am EST. I saw a heli crash. It was Roasthawkmoon's. I traveled back to the town to look for bodies and loot - but I was kicked with the message, "You were kicked from the server." I figured it was fine. I logged back in, and was kicked after a few seconds (maybe 15) with the same message. I thought it was a bug, so I thought, "you know what? Even if it is the admin, I'll leave the area if I can log back in and just grab our tent." I trucked off the area and was fine...for a while. Then I hit the next town along the coast. Some vehicle came hauling ass through town, then blew up around a bridge. I thought, "Hm. Could be the admin again, maybe there are bodies around I can loot," as the same four died in that crash as the heli crash. I'm kicked again with the "You were kicked from the server." message. At this point, I'm figuring something fishy might be going on. I'm also drunk as hell. So, I log back into the server, but before I spawn my character, I type, into the group chat, "Hey, I saw you crash your vehicles twice now, and I've been booted off the server twice. Quit being a dick, Roasthawkmoon." I'm not sure if BOTH were his vehicles. I'm still not sure, as I was drunk. But what convinces me is this: I logged back in before writing in group chat. Instead of night, it was now 1pm, and there was a lot of automatic gunfire coming from where the crash would have happened. I was kicked (with the same "you were kicked" message as earlier). I logged back in after posting to group chat. A minute or so later, I get a message from Roasthawkmoon saying if I logged into this server again, I would be banned. I logged in again to ask why - was it my tone? I just wanted my tent. About a minute after I logged in the most recent time to this server, Roasthawkmoon sent me a message stating, "you've been warned. have fun paying another 12-30 bucks for a new copy. i'm reporting you to battleeye." I've had zero problems before (admittedly, it was a short time), or since playing on the server. I've never cheated, I love the game, but I felt that I had to share this. I also tried to take screenshots. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. turned out flat black. I haven't checked Steam to see if there's anything I could recover from there regarding the issue, but it's been a couple days, and there's been no arbitrary ban, so I haven't checked. Not complaining, not trying to get anyone in trouble, but just warning. I won't pretend to know this particular admin's reasons for the ban (mostly, because he wouldn't tell me), but know that SOME admins will threaten you with a super-ban-hammer to ruin your key. Heads up.
  5. People complaining about balance, Balance is important to games, yes. But, two major things stand out to me about your arguments. The first being, everyone starts on the level and most of the PK goes on in the coast. Want to not risk getting your head blown off looking for shit? Move inland. You can make it to a town just off the coast that almost has no one in it without even having to eat or drink. It takes maybe a 10 minute walk. Anyone that's complaining about PK'ers camping the coast must not have made much of an honest effort to get out of there, as I've been doing it just fine for over a week. It's not hard - "beeline for the treeline" is a pretty good motto with respect to that particular issue. I digress. My point is, if you know an area is hot, stay the fuck away if you're not prepared for it. There's no balance issue here, just an adjustment that needs to be made in the perspective that people are viewing the game. For instance, if the zombie apocalypse started right now, you'd likely have nothing to defend yourself. But, your neighbor down the block seems to be the poster-boy for Guns & Ammo Magazine. Fair? Fuck no. He might not even be friendly. So, would you charge into his house, looking for loot, then complain if he shoots you? Adjust. Go back to his house when you can kill him if you have to. To put it short, this is a sandbox where you can play how you like, so, essentially, outside of the zombies, you're not playing against the game, you really are playing against (or WITH) other players with respect to your own needs. That's just the nature of this project. It's part strictly survival and part social experimenting. Since everyone starts out with the same equipment and has to scrounge things up from there, there really isn't much to balance. What do you want? Secondly, Rocket is doing this in his free time. For free. For us. Furthermore, this is HIS mod. You have no entitlement to demand...well, ANYTHING, really. Some posts I've read have just so much entitlement attached to them that it is literally blowing my mind. Don't like it? Don't play it. Make a suggestion, or something if you think something might work better one way, but for fuck's sake, don't whine or demand. Oh, before I forget, as a closing note, as a programmer involved in a different field, any time anyone says something like, "it would be so easy to code," or, "how hard can it be to add a couple lines of code," or anything like that, I want to take a boat oar, and beat them until their heads cave in. Why? Because if it was that easy, it would have already been done by then. Most times, changing the way one piece of code works can (and sometimes DO) have drastic, unforseen consequences in other areas of the program. So, don't say that shit, because it is insulting the skills of the programmer, who, in this case, is likely losing sleep and working his fucking ass off to provide you with a kick-ass FREE mod. SO, TL;DR; The game is fine, look at how you're playing if you're having problems. Also, you're not entitled to shit, as it's ROCKET'S mod, so shut the fuck up and go somewhere else if you're going to demand shit or whine.
  6. Rocket, I fucking love you.

    The Problems With Tents

Also having this issue. spent an hour (literally) just trying to find a place to pitch the tent, no luck. I'm at a standstill with my character because of it :(
  8. I was playing yesterday just fine when I decided to log out and take a break for a few hours. When I came back, I logged into the debug forest (or, rather, the plains). I figured it was just a glitch, as it's happened once or twice before, and tried re-logging in. Debugged again. So, I switched servers. Debugged again. Redownloaded DayZ. Debugged again, even after trying 3 different servers. I figured my game files might be corrupted, so I deleted and reinstalled both Arma II and OA. Still winding up in Debug Forest (plains). My total consecutive logins to Debug Forest (plains) is now up to 18. I've been playing just fine for a little over a week now, and I'm not sure what might have suddenly happened that I can't spawn correctly anymore. Is there anything else I can try? I really would like to continue playing. :( EDIT: I feel like I should also include the information that all of my weapons are gone, along with my pack and all items, except matches and a map.
