Stories, what do you do when fully kitted out?
Leto (DayZ) replied to Nonapona2's topic in General Discussion
I get bored and try to get myself killed by acting reckless so I can start over. -
There's no reason to go to the NWAF or the north anymore (here's why)
Leto (DayZ) replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I hope the helicopter crashes will make a come back. Other than the NWAF, those were a great reason to adventure north and explore remote areas. -
Considering how terribly the game handles axes and other melee weapons. I fear for the future of DayZ if the game is to become more about primitive weapons rather than firearms. The Arma2 engine is centered around guns.
-
I agree. The fact that melee combat has terrible hit detection doesn't help. It's really annoying when nearly every single encounter with a zombie ends up with you needing to patch up.
-
Isn't that intentional? Crosshair is just an approximate way of aiming at close range or in panic.
-
I sure hope they will at least add more faces. 75% of the players currently use the same square jawed creepy looking white guy.
-
Flecktarn. DayZ needs it.
-
The axe's range seems way too short, you have to be hump the zombie before you swing to get a hit.
-
Name weapons that should be in DayZ SA
Leto (DayZ) replied to Grenadier36's topic in General Discussion
Only if it spawns among garbage bags or containers. For realism. -
As you would do in real life. Wait it out. There isn't always an instant remedy to all ailments.
-
Zombie attack at the moment seem to ruins clothes at a very fast rate,. Any headgear but the helmet will go from "pristine" to "ruined" after a single zombie hit. Getting hit in the back will do the same to a backpack.
-
So why do people refuse being held up?
Leto (DayZ) replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I'm not anyone's pet. I'll die fighting. Seriously, if you are into the whole taking prisoners or being held as one, Good for you. I have zero interest in that kind of gameplay. -
The gas lantern (pristine) turns white, but doesn't produce any light on my settings. The flashlight is junk. It's like looking thru a paper towell roll indoor since the light is not reflected on anything. And you can't use it with a handgun as any normal human being would normally do. The headlamp is junk. The light is not reflected. It replaces your headgear instead of fitting over it as it should. And if you try to aim a gun wearing the headlamp, it points at the ground instead of ahead of you. Useless JUNK.
-
Without decent lighting effects and means to provide artificial light, it's not worth the trouble. Flashlight= junk Headlamp= junk Weapon light= never tried. Gas Lantern= Doesn't work. ...

Time to invest a new PC maybe? Those graphics look like a Monet painting.

Only the TTsKO has 6 pockets. I don't think we need that much space anyway. I stopped using chest rigs altogether and don't miss them. Once you realise what you really need to carry vs hoarding everything, managing the inventory is quite simple. With one ammo box which takes only 4 spaces, you can carry enough rounds for your rifle and pistol. With the M4, all you really need is 2 or 3 mags. There are so many water pumps and ponds that carrying water is not currently necessary. Food should be consumed as you find it. Sodas and tools(for now) are a useless waste of space. In my backpack, I carry one ammo box. One medic box (bandages, morphine, charcoal pills) fewer than 10 food cans. One canteen, a can opener, a compass and PU scope for my Mosin. In my pockets, I carry 20 rounds, bandages and handcuffs.

Enough with the ugly military gear. I'm sticking with civilian gear for now.

The thing you like the most and the thing you hate the most about the standalone ?
Leto (DayZ) replied to africanhungergames's topic in General Discussion
Like: - Lots of character customization via clothing. - The north of the map is expanded and looks promising. - New inventory system - Food, water, energy and health management which is now very realistic. It seems complicated at first, but it's just common sense. Hate: What I hate is mostly the bad stuff that carried over from the mod and which I fear will never be fixed because of the Arma2 engine. - Terrible lighting effects and use of the flahslight/headlamp is clunky and frustrating. - Sub standard character animations (movements look great, everything else looks poor) - Moving indoor sucks. - Clipping issues/ hit detection - Instant death and broken legs from shorts falls or running into obstacles. -
I hop sometimes when there is no gear left in the area I'm. The fact is, I rarely have more than a hour a day I can spend playing DayZ, so I have to make the best of it. Wasting an hour to hike from MSTA to Staroye and then Shakhovka like I did just now only to find 3 cans of food, a pair of cargo pants and a hat is not time well spent.
-
By the way people, stop wearing sunglasses under gas masks or clown masks. It looks ridiculous.
-
I'm tired of the TTsKO set. Especially the obligatory striped shirt (Sorry Russia, those never looked and will never look badass). I hope we will eventually get equivalent civilian gear or other camouflaged items. My current character:

Great idea. I don't think things like every item ever picked up needs to be recorded though.

What can be made into Rags should be fixed because of the Zeds' infinite bleeding damage hit super power

Lesson: Eliminate threat first, then treat wounds. -
I like private servers. They prevent ghosting/ server hopping and allow us to have multiple characters at once instead of being linked to a single global account.
