Gotta test the gameplay at night too you know. I found some day time servers now but man I enjoyed being forced to play at night. If you don't cheese it and bump the gamma setting it increases the atmosphere quite a bit, at least for me.

So many people who think "their" favorite thing should be priority. I imagine that the devs have their reasons and are working on the issues of importance as they deem fit.

I haven't found a can-opener yet and have starved to death three times. This game hates me..Or maybe it hurts me because it loves me. Having said that I logged in earlier today and tried to use a screwdriver to open a couple cans without any luck. Is it currently having issues or am I doing it wrong? -

I get the option to drink at fountains but nothing happens. Course that was pre-patch so I'll try again. Can the plastic water bottles be filled again? Been trying that in lakes and rivers with no luck.

Does nobody remember the early days when the average life span of a player was less than half an hour? You carebears are ruining this game. Let it be difficult, let it be annoying, it should be harsh and punishing not easy peasy so everyone can skip through the fields happily.

Considering all the people whinning about how awful it looked at E3 they probably decided to polish it a bit more before releasing it. Everyone demanding it be released now would be the people crying the loudest if they DID release it now. -

And this is why if you don't allow for some kind of mechanic to discourage straight up pvp/kos people will do it far more likely than not. -
This is obviously an idea for people who want more exercise while playing games than those who just want the traditional setup. Even in limited use it would be a pretty fun way to get some walking/jogging in.

I agree with this. Anything that makes the xbow more viable is a good thing. Anything that makes it harder to use is a bad thing! -

And now the real carebears come back out of the wood works now that the game is actually challenging. You aren't supposed to have a cake walk. It is supposed to be hard. Average life span is supposed to be minimal. Angry pyscho bites you, you are probably going to get an infection....just sayin. -
Does it actually have an effect like restore blood and/or status effects? Do I need to make sure it's on flat ground before using so the tent doesn't eat me like in Origins?

Does anyone remember when this game first got popular and the average survival time was 15 minutes or less? This game isn't supposed to be a walk in the park. You are supposed to struggle for it, and die often if you are not careful. -

But....I like cake.... My first thought was "hey that doesn't sound like a bad idea, maybe if you survive for so many days you get a new skin looking like a crazy pyscho hobo who hasn't talked to anyone in years" then I realized you already get a "survivor" skin...you start with it. You just don't look like a hobo who lived in the woods forever. Interesting idea but I don't think it's quite right for what dayz is shooting for. Keep thinking and throwing out ideas though that is how we get the cool stuff. -
It completely blows my mind that there are people stupid enough to trust a youtube video link stating they have a leaked standalone alpha. What...the shit.

Pretty much this. I floundered around on different maps and mod versions of dayz till I hit origins in it's current build. Now I am having second thoughts about actually playing the standalone at all until it has something similar in the form of base building.
