I only fire in self defense and I haven't even had to do that since SA release. Run into 30+ people now, half of them armed, other half largely new spawns. All but two were friendly and we either parted ways, traded goods, ran together for a bit etc. If you are smart about how you play you will find there are plenty of people out there who don't want to shoot on sight and only do so because they think the other person is a threat. If you act in a non-threatening way, most people ( at least the ones I have encountered anyway ) will respond in kind. -
None of your recommended "fixes" would effect server hopping or ghosting. In fact your "fixes" would encourage further server hopping for loot. The majority of the players think the timer should be even longer anyway so just go do something else for five minutes while you wait.

I too clicked on thread prepared to read the hilarious flames. Pleasently surprised and I will also have to revisit night time to see how it goes without the gamma exploit (which is silly and kills the idea of playing at night).

Hah I love this poll. The people complaining about it are obviously the minority and probably server hoppers anyway. Rest of us either don't mind, think it should be longer, or understand this is a temporary fix to slow down the people exploiting the system. Good times. -

I don't have the problem you guys are talking about. I'm always in the healthy status, energized, hydrated, and always have a surplus of food in addition to this. No I don't server hop I stick to one server but I spend most of my time in the central and northern part of the map. I haven't noticed any increase in energy needs myself.

I haven't starved to death since release of the stand alone and I don't server hop. Given I tend to play on mid capacity servers rather than full so that is probably it so maybe move further in land? There are many many towns and not all of them are going to be looted clean all the time. Having said that I have noticed certain buildings have had loot in them when I went to check. Not sure if that was because it's rarer, people were getting there before me, or it just doesn't spawn anything but im sure it's in good hands either way. -
Again this obviously isn't the preferred method, but it's the current system or nothing until something better is designed. You guys act like this is in concrete and is never going to change.

It's not a matter of easy way out. It's either this or nothing until something better is designed (or the exploitation of preferred methods are fixed).

Easy lazy route? This isn't an ideal setup obviously (would prefer a screen in game countdown rather than this) but this does help combat the problem. Fairly sure it will get replaced with something better down the line. It's certainly better than nothing.

Other than restarting a server yourself and immediately playing on it then running to these houses, it's hard to check if they actually spawn stuff accurately. I close doors of houses behind me after I loot them so people don't know where I have been typically. Having said that, there are several houses I skip over myself because I have never found a single thing in them. Ever.

Join the wrong server? Pay closer attention to which server you are joining. Joined a server at night but wanted to play during the day? The server in game times are posted on the browser. It's not the best mechanic and probably isn't going to last once something else is designed but it does help the problem it's designed for (doesn't fix it but only private servers would fix it) and it's better than nothing.

More posts by people who don't know how game development works. It's said again and again, the people designing the spray cans are the not the same people working on zombies, or network stability, or any othe things. Just because you see other things being added doesn't mean other issues are being ignored, they just take longer to work on and/or more sources and different kind of training.

Read the title just fine and I understand it's your opinion. It's my opinion that your opinion is unreasonable. Also this topic has been covered to death. Why not go read one of those threads rather than making an account on the forums just to make this thread?

Don't log off in a house? Why would you do this unless you are a server hopper? Run out to a forest, find a tree to hide in. If you die in the next 30 seconds that means someone spotted you and was already enroute to kill you. Having said that I would prefer to have it be a countdown in game as well but it isn't a deal breaker for me at least.

Just means you need to pay more attention to which server you join and plan on staying on it. You aknowledged that it was your mistake, so why does it need to change if you know it was your fault?

Different environment might be different results? Much larger pool of people now using the tested stuff rather than just the experimental servers?
