To those who still don't understand why there are bandits in the zombie apocalypse

Why you need a tk penalty. A game is not real life. In a game murder = Fun
lucas78 replied to baleur's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The original poster explained the situation quite correctly and with logic; personally, I agree with him to a certain extent. Still, I hope that whatever artificial measure is put in place to limit total freedom of killing *without any repercussion* (which is not right as it is implemented at the moment), will not have an influence on the sandbox nature of the game (otherwise we'll start to see "PvE only" cities/areas and other horrible stuff lke that). -
Incentive system for team play (discussion and possible ideas)
lucas78 replied to css_god@yahoo.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is quite a stimulating discussion: among other things, I think it also comes down to how much "game" do you want to add to the experience, and in what measure you want to keep that "social experiment" appeal, no holds barred. With a premise like this mod, teamwork feeds on itself, of course. Fundamentally, it's about creating your own little stories, be it of lone, hopeless and random exploration and survival, forming up zombie killing parties or commit treachery on other fellow humans. So how to preserve this feeling, and at the same time create sub-systems that have an impact on the gameplay? -
You know, I'm still moving my first steps in this fantastic mod, but as a lover of ArmA, sandbox-style MMOs etc. I really hope that, as the mod progresses, the developer(s) will keep it true to its roots: yes, there might be enhancements to the interface and other "quality of life" improvements to make the gameplay experience even better. But please, don't use easy shortcuts just to reach out to a wider audience. One great aspect of this game, probably the most interesting to me, it's the reason/logic vs. survival instinct that puts you in, and how it can make you really feel like you are in a "real" situation (not, still have to experience an apocalypse zombie invasion in my life, but maybe I will, someday :P), which, after all, is one of the strong points of Arma too, right? So, while developing new features, it would be great if you always strive to keep that logic vs. survival instinct intact: let us actively think about what we're doing and the consequences of our actions. Don't let our judgment and situation awareness be hampered by what I could consider "gamey" additions.

Fantastic guides; maybe next time I won't be eaten alive in the first couple of minutes or so (still, probably within the first five) :D
