Every server I try, every version I switch to, it says I'm using the wrong version.
-
They should do SOMETHING about the server issue in terms of delays/unplayability.

Awesome idea. It had to flushed out more, but it's cool. If you just make looting players get blood on you, and zeds are attracted to blood, that solves 80% of rampant banditry right there I bet. However, we must keep in mind that keeping the game DANGEROUS is very very important. We must not discourage PK'ers too much. It's too damn fun to have the uncertainty and risk around. Anyways, I think the key to not making the game a complete deathmatch is creating more REWARDS for working together. And yes, I think in a realistic survival scenario, people would be desperate to find other like-minded individuals and work together towards a common goal (whether that be surviving, building a new home, or killing others.) It is human nature on so many levels.

Yes, I understand its a system to make swimming risky and add to the decision making process...but the risk should be even riskier: drowning. To avoid it, you should have to choose which items you release to make you more buoyant. Not random equipment loss, which is kind of odd and doesn't make sense. That's my suggestion.

The unOFFICIAL bandit skin discussion thread: POST HERE

The bandit system is cool, they just have to fix self-defense kills. Everything else was fine. In a "real" survival scenario, some people will help other people. Some people will get all militaristic, dress in camo to hide themselves, and prey on others to survive. Sure, there's lots more variation from that possible, but this was a good way to portray that choice in game. If they remove it, hopefully they will put something better in place. -
Daytime servers are always overloaded.

the day/night cycle is fine. The night is too damn dark is the problem. I've been outside at night. Starlight lets you see at least basic shapes. Moonlight lets you see everything, but with decreased detail and no color. -
There should be a simple melee option. I understand how having too powerful melee weapons could unbalance the game. But a 3" folding pocket knife, or hitting with an empty pistol, would make sense to put in. It would do very little damage against zeds, but it would give you the chance to fight back while you're being eaten, rather than running and running and running and running from 1 zombie you shot twice and is almost dead.

THE Night is TOO DAMN DARK Thread. Others will be deleted etc.
g2knee replied to Slamz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Too dark. Just brighten it a liiiittle bit so you can tell the difference between a house, a tree, and a zombie. -
There is a difference between balanced to be fair, balanced to be hard, balanced to be realistic, and balanced to be retarded. Having zombies spawn right next to the player is retarded. That being said, the mod is awesome. We can fix this hiccup and still have the game be hard, realistic, and fatal.

5 mins is way too short. What if I clear a house, and I want to start stockpiling equipment and make a "base" out of it? Impossible. Zombies should not spawn within 50 meters of a player, or something like that.
-
There should be some kind of survival melee weapons to be had, even if its just a pocket knife that is very very weak against zeds. If you have no ammo, you should be able to at least bludgeon with an empty pistol while being eaten alive, rather than run and run with no discernible end in sight. Should be able to go down fighting. An upgrade or rare/better item to get could be a hatchet, only marginally better than the 3" swiss army knife. It would add a bit of depth to the game, and a last resort if ammo runs out.

You there. With that unfair advantage. You are CHEATING!

Well, I'd assume the avatar in game would have some geographic knowledge of the area he's in...unless he was knocked out, blindfolded, and wakes up on the beach with no memory of what happened. So, unless that is the case (it could be, I don't know the back-story of dayz if there is one) it makes sense for players to have a map outside of the game to represent the realism of this knowledge. Know what I mean? -
Suggestion: Gear should not be automatically lost while swimming. Backpacks are tied/zipped closed. Cargo pockets have buttons. If something is too heavy to swim with, player can risk drowning or drop the items manually. Auto-losing items while swimming doesn't make sense in this situation, unless the items are loose in the players front pockets.

Pain pills should be multiple use. Also, they should take a while to take effect, and not be instant.
