As everyone knows helo can be used in limited number of scenarios like making an insertion via landing or parachute, lifting fresh spawn to base for reequip, scanning for camps and cruising around hot points looking for troubles. You have good chance to hit the hull and crew only in last scenario, while the helo circling above you head and looking for you exactly. You have fairly brief chance to hit pilot or tail rotor while helo lifting fresh spawn. You have some chances if you have a decent MG like m240 or mk48 and you are lucky enough to catch the helo heading right in your direction. In any other case you can't hit it hard. You don't have much chances to hit pilot's head while helo just passing by at 200 meters high and 150 kmh with noob pilot, and you don't have any chances while it passing by like a boss at 6-12 meters high and 300+ kmh. You can't destroy any vital components to force passing helo to land w/o .50 cal (except MGs vs LBs at very close distance about 200 meters). So, if you are finally decided to remove .50 cal once and for all, maybe you need to activate fuel leak after any hull hit? No matter which weapon was - pistol, axe, crossbow (maybe even zeds). It's annoing enough to force crew to land for full repair and/or refuel in radius about 2-3 km from the point where damage was dealt. Go kill some snipers at south cost, and you'll have it. This is easy enough for anyone, who have an axe and can spend 5 minutes to check most trivial Elektro and Cherno sniper locations on any highly populated server. So axe and machete perfectly fits you? If so - you can get your .50 in 5 minutes in Cherno, i can give you a grid coords to check. If you are really good in CQB, of course. For me you just missed tactical opportunities due lack of experience. I'm wondering who even need this DayZ SA? While dayzteam talking other teams are working. Playing vanilla DayZ now it's just as boring comparing to DayZ Namalsk, Origins or Breaking Point as playing tetris. DayZ vanilla is stagnating, there's no any real milestones reached for whole year, it's just DayZ from May 2012 with couple of extra features and slightly improved perfomance. You can (like one year ago) only kill and collect loot. There's no any gameplay enchances for whole year, and everything, what can devs do for sure - it's just nerf and remove weapons. From 2012 to 2013 project have same problems: - hackers/dupers; - combat reloggers; - absense of any social goals for teams other than just kill everything on sight; And nothing done about it in vanilla. Why i'm still can't shoot with my big dirty military oneshooter some pussy who wearing pink shirt with mark "COMBAT RELOGGER" somewhere in Chernarus on public? Is this needs too complex programming? Or big scale server resources? DayZ had a good start, brought zeds in trend, but then just have stopped.

You don't know what wants majority, so talk only for yourself. If you are about poll - it was tendentious, because two of three answers was "No, we don't need any thermal". What do you think of poll with questions "Shall we left L85 as it is? Shall we give thermal ability to rangefinder? Shall we remove L85 completely?" It maybe not exactly 0,43% in real, but It's below 1%. Taking 1% as max probability. Crashed helo have from 2 to 6 spawnpoints. Chances now between 0,86% and 6%. Servers have from 3 to 5 crashed helos after each respawn. Chances between 2,58% and 30%. Most of servers have 4 restarts in a day. Chances between 10,32 and 120%. So average probability of L85 spawnrate at one server once in a day is 65,16%. Read it carefully. Only one rifle. Once in a day. Or maybe it not even spawns in this day. Or no one find exactly that crashsite, on which it spawns. Or maybe some primitive luddite purist already bury it in the zombie body and hide it. If you are foot moving loner - you'll need hellofalototime to get one and don't get killed in process. Week or so ago, i'm said, that i personally found more than 20 of L85 at crashsites. But my team have helos at 5 or 6 of servers and can farm crashsites easily. If you don't have helo and you found L85 - consider that you have max luck IRL. But what do we have in fact? Every noob pussy can take L85 on sanctuary servers, or cheaters ammoboxes, or just dupe it from tents or another noob pussy. Last week i'd smash couple of noobs running from Balota to Cherno with my UAZ. Both of them had L85 and no other rifle, both of them shooting at me and both fail. For f*****g what? Where did they get L85? Why L85 become abundance? Dupers and hackers is a problem. Not a rifle. L85 is OP? If you are loner - you most likely running without L85, if there's no dupers at all. If you are lucky and have one - most likely you don't want to die in shootout, so you won't start it. Just scan the place and decide your next move. Because if there no dupers, and you'll die - you need a lot of time to get one once more. If you can't dupe it - it becomes a elite stealth gear. Not the magic eye which average Joe can take from tent after death on south beach and run in Cherno again.

Problem is not in L85, but in some fundamental basics of the game. Usual rooftop PK sniper scans horizont withn L85, find a noob cap, switch to .50cal, shoot'em and scans for another cap. Don't ever bother for loot victim or capture damaged vehicle. What's motivation of this sniper? IMHO theres a such factors as: - easy accessible hitech gear through duping; - easy accessible ammo through rearrange bug; - absense of long term goals (motivation to teamwork); - absense of ties to specifical server(except nonhive servers, hideout or something); - ineffective communication options (notes, radio); - easymode zombies. While we have this all - we everytime will have sniper, who just get bored and have "OP guns" and infinite ammo. He had no other reason to shoot anyone, but tries to entertain yourself. If duping and inventory bugs will be fixed - numbers of hitech gear and ammo will fade to planned in loot sheet probability level. No more "everyone has NVG, rangefinder,.50cal, L85" issue. You get only what you found or trade. Long term work motivate to teamwork. Teams can handle pointless rooftop shooters easily. Cpt O. More communication options (like radio) will give opportunity of spontaneous teamwork. It completely changes the game in more positive way. To realise this thing in mod devs need to do a extencive work, but they want to go a "easymode way" - just cut the options off completely. This is way to dead end for the game, but a good for box office.
