Keep it untouched. Problem is not in thermal. Problem is in duping. Wipe L85 from hive, make ir rarer, but keep rifle intact. Thermal must be the part of the game. Maybe not L85, but Ak-74 with thermo capability. Or let passenger of AH6X work with his sophisticated camera (which has thermo mode).

Simple. Visually. Saw foe with my eyes :) As i said - 99% of my PvP death was CQB on the beach after respawn. Sorry, i'm explain further. I'm never tried private hive. We kick asses with superior firepower and training, not by the admin control panel. Usually (fully equipped) our unit, when we moving by foot, has one spotter with L85 to scan horizont (for pigs and rabbits), one or two snipers with .50cal, DMR or CZ550, and one or two MG guys to clean that zombie mess, when unarmed harvesters looting the place. When you are alone L85 is extremelly usefull to threat assesment, and brings more info about situation (how long that chopper/ural/uaz stand still).

I'm playing DayZ from 05.12. and never been killed by L85. NEVER EVER. Starting at Atlanta and Chicago servers, now on European. Reasons of my death usually is cheaters, engine bugs, geometry glitches or vehicles accidents, but death in PvP most time was a quick CQB on southern beach with primitive soviet weapons after respawn. Once i have been shoot in back on Myshkino deer stand by camper with M16, once (in one of first tryes) .50cal in the middle of Kabanino fields. It was a good experience. Last two months i have a good company with me, and we don't worry very much about snipers on the hills with or w/o L85 or .50 cal. We just kick'em.

Hurrah!!! At last devs remove L85 and .50 Cal, but add streetlights in cities, dogs and other useless trash!!! Pretty strange way of thinking, because L85 is nothing more but spotter tool. Try to think (i mean it) by yourself. You remove L85 and there will be no more nighttime evil thermal snipers on the hill!!! Good. But then you ask streetlight in cities, barking dogs, and anyone with eyes, ears and gun still can shoot you directly in your ass (or chop you in the ass with Mighty Axe). Without any thermal sights. Really, how could you know, was your killer armed with L85 or maybe another far more accurate 5.56mm rifle? Most L85 hacked? Are you serious? I'm asking because i'm personally found lots of them at helicrashes. Dont even bother to count how many times, but far more than 20. Remove .50 cal cause they way to good for CQB (and hacked too)? .50 is good for CQB ONLY on crosshair enabled pussy servers. You play in a game about SURVIVAL. So just stop crying and play in hardcore without crosshair, 3d person, map markings, waypoints and you will be really enjoed by finding helicrash with rare hardware. This will bring some sense into your pointless running on Chernarus fields and improve your perception, intuition and tactical skills. If devs still will pay attention to "this gun is OP - we must ban it" cries, there will be no DayZ with survival but just noobs foot (cars cause some peoples cry "i can't find a car, most cars r hacked and OP and must be banned") excursions into abandoned country, or just a sitting and in cafe All changes needed for hi-tech equipment is only make it depends on powersource. Place batteries for equipment in civilian buildings or charge hi-tech piece from vehicles or plain powergens. So there will be no "from restart to restart powered" nighttime NVG or thermal mode L85. It will be enough to make hitech guys feel uncomfortable on constant spotting of NWAF, Stary Sobor or whatever.
