CPU. When zombies spawn their AI runs off your CPU (if you triggered them). There are more zeds in cities. And yes this does somehow effect FPS. -
some don't like noobs full stop. others dislike dayz players through multiple bad experiences such as team killing for a better weapon (sound familiar?) some arma 2 players are idiots, some dayz players are idiots, and people like to generalise.

the issue here, freindly or not, is the pollution of the gameworld with way too much high end gear. the destroys the gameworld, like it or not. nobody risks the NW airfield cos nobody needs to, the game is broken.

seen one before... screenshot of one anyway. looks kinda cool, like there is a story behind it. it has been suggested that these ind of random events be scripted into the game officially. very very very very rare shit that makes you just go WTF! adds to the variety a little.

It is hacked gear..... By accepting it you just lost about 75% of the fun of the game. Now you will find you have absolutely nothing to do except kill animals and fill canteens from ponds. You are also now part of the problem rather than the solution. Roll on the standalone.

like I say in every thread like this I see, you people must be thick... this is the whole reason to rush out a standalone, close off the ability for client run malicious scripts. you can't do this in arma 2 mod as this is kinda essential to the milsim, you can do this in standalone and it will be done. honestly, how do you guys run a server with such limited intel? -

ONLY if bllod did not instantly return with food, this is crazy how I can nearly die then just find a cow.... I actually think the game would be much harder if you could not recover blood through eating, but instead had to wait to heal, like you do in reality. I even think a blood transfusion should only give back a couple thousand blood. -

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.

Biggest peeve at the moment is zombie spawn. At the moment zeds in a town = player. People spot zeds and go hunting players. Zeds should always be in towns. The zeds should not actively scan for players until a player is within 100m of them, to save on CPU power. Once you enter a town, your CPU then does the work of scanning for the zeds to keep server load to minimum. Once you leave the area the zeds go back to shuffling around and not actively scanning for players. The only way another player should know you are in a town is if the zeds agro or they actually spot you. -

yes i think they captured some very cool atmosphere and gameplay there. liked the lighting especially. -
the mod is dead, long live the standalone. i find it funny that every community i come across, there is a "this is dead" thread every couple of weeks. A bit like we have an "end of the world is nigh" news story every few years. people love the attention of a good "it's not how it used to be" lament. it is less popular than it has been for sure, but many games would love the player levels this mod has even now. stuff will get better, players will continue to play and the world will keep turning.

i thought the game looked a little unpolished, slightly ugly and a seemingly old engine. maybe theyre going for a walking dead feel?
