On the private hive that my mates run our zombie spawn rate is massive. Take a stroll through cherno and you'll have upwards of 500 zombies to deal with. The admin once told us that there is over 5000 zombies currently spawned and there was only 6 of us in the server at the time. -
I'll be honest in saying, I'll be getting Arma III because of the DayZ mod introduced me to a wonderful little game called Arma II. Anyone up for some Takistan Life? :D

I hate deadlines. All they do is rush you to release something no matter what the quality and if a delay is announced, it makes a lot of people disappointed. I prefer the ID software standpoint of "When it's done" rather than just releasing a shoddy build that gets a patch a week later. I don't care if I have to wait till next year as the mod is still a ton of fun. Be patient. The more TLC added to the SA the better.

The zombies at the moment are still a serious threat. The way I see it is that if you are on a high populated server (PANTHERA!!) you just can't go rambo going full auto. You WILL attract the even more dangerous zombies: Bandits. On a low pop server there's not much risk aside from shaking the bee hive. You have to take into account that the noise you are making is more dangerous than the zombies themselves. It is rather annoying that zombies can move through geometry. I've had my legs broken countless times from a randomly appearing zed halfway into the floor. They really need to fix that. Until then they shouldn't make the zombies any harder. Recently I've played on a couple Taviana(EU) 1.2.0 servers. In this build of DayZ the zombies are way harder. It takes 3-5 hatchet hits to kill a zed and they can also hit you while you're in a vehicle. If you want harder zeds play Taviana. -

I wouldn't mind clever dayz specific brands as a replacement. One things for sure, if they do get licencing it's going to be one or the other. Pepsi and Coca Cola don't get along.

^^ This @op Hardware/Software problems like these are a pain in the ass to figure out. Could be any number of different possibilities as to what is causing the issue. It could be corrupt windows files, faulty video card, too much dust causing heat issues, the ram is failing, the hard drives could need a defrag, a conflicting software or maybe just bad luck. In cases like these I generally do a reformat and install a fresh copy of windows. If the problem persists then most likely it's a hardware issue. Even then I can't see dayz damaging your video card as Dayz is a CPU hog.

One place that I've found it is in one of the hangars at the NE Air Base. I've flown it a few times and it's not bad, I just find that the Huey is a lot more stable and easier to fly. -

Three things eh? 1. Vehicles: a - Allow us to remove parts from one vehicle and add them to another ("Car Stripping") b - Add in a tow truck, allowing us to tow other vehicles around but of course make it hard to do unless on paved roads c - Give boats some cargo space d - Small boats should be able to go faster than 15km/h; only when one person is aboard 2. Items: a - Weapons should be able to be modular; add sights, tac lights, foregrips and dual mag clamps b - Different types of ammo; hollowpoint, armor piercing, dragon's breath (hehehe) b2 - Incendiary grenades and tear gas canisters (edit) c - As with cars; being able to damage and then fix weapons; breaking weapons down to basic parts to use in fixing others d - Wearing the same clothing over time will show wear and tear (within reason). 3. Environment: a - No longer able to drink directly from a stagnant pond; you must boil your water in a camp fire b - You can chop wood from any tree.. not just the ones in a forest c - Bears, wolf packs, deer, moose, vultures and zombie varieties of the previous mentioned d - Slender and "The Rake" (only on rookie servers) -

Yes I've been seeing this a lot lately, last night was the most recent. Somebody injects the script into the server just as TSAndrey said. After some research I read that it will teleport and kill you if you press certain buttons. One I know of for sure is F12; commonly used to take screenshots in steam. I guess you can say that this at least prevents anyone from reporting the hacker with proof. As soon as I see it, I log off immediately. If somebody has the resources to inject it, there's no telling what more they'll do. It also seems the closer we get to the release of the standalone, more people are going to hack. Almost every night my squad has to find another server due to it. Hope this helps. -

I'm glad thermals are being phased out. As for NVG, reduce the visible range and add in battery life. Also, any player shot in the face while wearing them should completely destroy the unit.

Thanks Rocket for giving us this long awaited update. I'm glad to hear that the DayZ development is going smoothly and that we will hopefully have the SA out by Christmas. If you need to delay, by all means go for it. I like it when developers (iD) go by the "when it's done" release date rather than a fixed date. But I do have a question: My main issue with the game is that it is heavy CPU intensive. Currently my dual-core athlon melts at the sight of a few zombies. Of course some servers are better than others but for me I average around 10-15 fps in cities due to the zombie AI. My question is, have you done any benchmarking with the new zombie code? How much of a performance increase (CPU side) should we expect? Thanks Mr. Hall Keep up the amazing work! -

Should just military or all weapons become rare in SA?

My most used weapon happens to be the hatchet. I would like to see more civilian melee weapons all of which would have a particular use in mind. All could be used as a weapon and do damage at a variable amount or perhaps do a different type of damage. However I do find it rather strange that I find 3 makarovs and a lee enfield in a school.. so yes I think it should be tweaked for more realism. Personally, the addition of the "Woodman's Pal" would make me a very happy survivor. -

"it's an external app that automates keyboard input for a game." By definition this is cheating (however mild it is). It is also recommended that you take a break from gaming for 5 minutes or so every hour. This helps prevent repeated stress injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome. It is also recommended that you change your diaper after defecating as this can cause a rash. -

If it's not a feature, it's an exploit. Also, running in a straight line is a bad idea on populated servers. If you are on a low populated server then you are missing the point of dayz. It's not meant to be single player. -
