Good job! Nice to finally have a server close to home. ;)

Is that inbound + outbound or just outbound? The bandwidth for those AUS server quotes is only outbound. I don't think inbound is metered.

NY | TX | AZ | ??? Discussion/Donations/Self Hosting [Host Altitude]

I'm going to create a seperate thread regarding an Australian server just to keep track of the discussion and all the PMs I've been getting regarding it. -

Yes it would just host one. That is very cheap for Australia. I also can't get more than 3TB BW without paying a stupid amount more so it's not worth hosting more than one server on a box. -

How about this then: Quad Core E3 1240 4 GB DDR3 RAM 500 GB HDD 2TB data $325 / month (AUD) The CPU is a bit of an overkill but most places with cheaper BW seem to be out of stock on any lower CPU's. -

The Phoenix, Arizona server is now online. I'll hand it over to rocket to set everything up. I've got a few quotes for servers in AUS. The best one is the following: E3 1240 8 GB DDR3 RAM 500 GB HDD 3TB data $400 / month (AUD) That could handle 2 x 50 slot servers I believe. At a push although I'm not sure the BW can handle that. I've ordered a server in Phoenix, Arizona. Should get it over the weekend.

Thanks, I've fixed it. I mean something similar to what we are running in NY, so yeah 4 x 50 slots. -

Looks like there was some sort of forum rollback, all the replies have gone. I'm asking for around $100 to order the Phoenix, Arizona server and then any more donations will go towards the monthly cost. It costs more than this but we need it urgently. Feel free to ping 199.167.132.160. As far as I'm aware, Phoenix uses MST which is the same as PDT. -

I've made a donation page using our group pay system. This is so all donations can be tracked by everyone: http://billing.hostaltitude.com/grouppay.php?hash=a8255-cdb95-5995c-a577b-fa8e3-df152-8b If we reach $100 I will get another E3-1230 server in NYC which can host 4 x 50 slot servers. If you'd prefer another location then please say so. I've made a thread for discussing all this here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=346

Some very good points rocket, I'm glad to be supporting a mod developed by someone like you. I'll see what I can do regarding the Aus/NZ hosting, generally the bandwidth costs are 4-5 times more than the US as well as steep hardware prices.
-
I currently host the four NYC servers through my company Host Altitude. We can get highly discounted prices on dedicated servers but they still do cost a fair amount. I'm more than willing to set up some sort of donation system but it depends on what you guys think. We have 3 locations in the US available and I could possibly look into Australia/NZ although the BW costs are very high. Our 4 NYC servers are predicted to use about 6TB/month in total. The specs we use can host around 200-300 slots in total but I'm not sure exactly on the resource usage as the DayZ Dev Team are in main control of the server. I would only ask for 50% of the server cost and we will pay the rest as our own donation.
-
All four NY servers: Currently at 1TB BW used in 6 days.

Why would you want to play ArmA 2 on Windows Server 2008? It may still work but that is very strange.

Download download and download

I think some sort of launcher would be ideal although I have no problem manually updating several times a day. Possibly something like Six Updater which is what many other servers/mods use: http://i.imgur.com/6oGb1.png -
I don't think there should be any pointers or GUI showing where other members are. There should simply be a list of who in your group and their coordinates. It would also be cool if groups could all have the same unique skin if/when skins are implemented.

My opinion on this game so far - Great fun!
jonnerz replied to gloopy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree with the zombie movement but I'm not sure if it's possible in ArmA, the AI have always had bad movement paths. -
Having issues connecting again, it was fine the first time I connected but now it's freezing on "Getting character data". Tons of people are connecting/disconnecting every minute so I feel that it's not just me who's still having issues.
-
I'm getting this too on all servers with all files up to date.
-
I think this would be pretty cool, especially with the new update. Every 1-2 hours I play someone mentions how ACRE should be added so it would be favorable by many.
-
As a UK resident, I find the NYC servers exactly the same as the EU servers in terms of latency. Daylight is also synced with my playing times. :)

Hey, I'm Jonnerz and I'm currently providing all the NYC servers. <3 DayZ.
