DayZ Alpha won't launch until launched !
nmv06 replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Well, all the hype that people had about getting the game before new year is long gone, and now im guessing there are just a few people who are still counting days until the game is out. All i can say is that i hope when it will get released, considering all the time they had to work on it, to be a pretty well polished Alpha. With lots of content added to it so that it will be able to attract more people to play. I really love the idea of the game, and don't want to see it fade away because of the delays and everything. -
We are normal survivors not experts in firearms.Anyone can get disarmed. Just don't do any nijutsu or other wild animations.

Don't see a big problem with the drink & food getting named ... first of all adds a little diversity to the "menu" and second, it's a fun way for the devs to get a little recognition Also ... awesome work with the crossbow, i can imagine it took some time and effort to make that, soo ... Cheers for the Devs !

Read the news yesterday morning, was really glad that they finally got released. And like i said there, once they are found innocent, they should try to get justice done for all the horror that they've been trough. Again Cheers for both of them ! :D

If i remember in Take on Helicopters, there is an option to auto start the choppa. Will it still be available in DayZ ? also, will we get to have the auto hover feature in it ? because it took me almost 30 min in the first few training missions just to get the helicopter to hover in one point. (Don't want to remember the mission where i had to land between buildings)

In regards to the new map, instead of creating a DLC and going against a lot of things that you guys said, wouldn't be a better plan to give the players the chance to donate money for the game ? Maybe reward them with some items in real, a DayZ Callendar, tshirs, mugs ... stuff like that, could even go and make a contest for a personalized DayZ computer case where everyone who donates will enter and have the chance to win.

Allright .... I DEMAND CLOSED BETA ACCESS :D

Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?
nmv06 replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I don't see anything bad about zombie kids, don't really understand why all the fuss. There are lots of movies that have kid zombies.(and yes i know there is a difference between a movie and a pc game) If you feel bad about killing it, then RUUUUN FOREST RUUUN !!!! -

The game looks really great. Really looking forward to playing it. Was looking at the first picture and thinking it would be cool if the windows would be breakable, but i guess that wouldn't be much good, since if you see an intact window someone will break it anyway, and then you will need "respawn" for windows too :D The doors look a little bigger guess that will fix the problem with entering buildings. -

A not-announcement announcement for the forums!
nmv06 replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Well not even going to read trough the comments on this not-announcement-announcement :D I really hope that the extra time that you got until the launch day will help give a better and more complete SA when it comes out. Just don't over do it :D Really looking forward to see the game out and to have some fun on it. Cheers ! -
I think that people who bought arma 2 for dayz, should buy Dayz too, and enjoy 2 games :D eh ? :D On a side note, News about the release date: when it's ready !

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
nmv06 replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well, i'm not sure how the inventory/clothing system will work, but if you will have the chance to change clothes(pants, jacket, hat, shoes) then i would guess adding blisters on your feet, if you are wet, because of rain or you just went trough water, and you start running 5-6 km in the same shoes, then you will start getting blisters, which at first will only be a small annoyance making walking and running somewhat slower, but if left untreated should start to get infected, leading to much worse pain on the foot, maybe even gangrene -
Survivor camps/bases/houses + ingame money!
nmv06 replied to trexeth's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
i think the only currency that would have any "value" would be bullets, just like in Metro ... but as for money, don't really see the sense in using it in a game like dayz ... i really don't see zombies worrying about how much paper they have in their pockets, since they will be too busy trying to munch on your legs. Same goes for players(only that they try avoiding getting munched). Now bullets, there is a different story, but that will go as a barter system, where you give and get something that you need, the other player needs. As for npc ... don't really see the sense in shops around the world, would go against the entire survival theme of the game. The only place where i would agree to see npcs, would be in the player build bases, but they are there just for show, and to consume resources, so that if you want to have a big base, you must keep on scavenging for food and other things to deposit them inside the base and the npcs consume it.(they could MAYBE, help defend your base against other players raids) -
Suggestion to prevent logging out when shot dead
nmv06 replied to Xylus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Wouldn't it make more sense, after the player dies, the body not to be tied to his account anymore, so that the dead body will remain there, even if the player logs out. Just saying, is a better idea than to just start banning people. -
Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
nmv06 replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
One more suggestion, since there already is the entrenching tool, which is a shovel, add the option to dig holes in the ground, where you can stash your extra equipment. Also, since there will be a system where weapons will get used in time, if you just throw them in the ground, next time you pick them up, they will have a certain amount of wear and tear on them, and will need some servicing, or you can find a plastic garbage bag in the supermarket, where you put all the stuff you want buried, and when you will go to take them back, they will be in the same condition as you left them. -
If Rocket doesn't include this feature, I will hunt him down.

Wait ! WHAT !? -
From a post about the game development stage to arguing about why the devs are using steam. Personally, i have nothing against steam, and would buy the game in which ever way it is released. To those who are concerned about buying the game on steam and about their rights as a buyer, As Erizid posted earlier, you can always copy your cd key from steam, and later if the game is launched in another manner, you can still use the same cd key to play the game. I think this topic should stop, because it's going nowhere fast.

"The UI has been completely reworked, focusing on simplicity. We have studied games that we believe are leaders in this area, such as Minecraft, and are focusing on providing functionality without fancy complexity in this regard." That would mean that we are to expect some quick access to things such as food, water, and other stuff that we want to put there ? Also, the map, will players be able to have an impact on the map, for example, modify it by building on it ? Or as someone said on the suggestion forum, build underground bases, and if so, how will the server resets affect that, also, how often will server resets occur, if the game is on steam ?
-
You don't really need to run steam to play the games that you download from it, you can make shortcuts to the games and run them without even starting steam. The reason some people choose to run games straight from the steam application is: comfort, much easier to choose the game you want to play from one list than to either, have a bunch of shortcuts on your desktop, or browsing trough every folder of the games that you have installed. On a side note, to DayZ dev team, if you guys need testers for the game before release, I'm willing to pitch in and help as much as i can :D (obvious pretext to get the game before launch date haha )

I figured you wrote it late at night when i read it :D I met many at the team at Valve at PAX, Anyways, great to see some new announcements, and to be honest, i guess a lot of us would be willing to wait even if the game gets a little delayed and won't be able to get released next month. All that is left to be said is: Keep up the good work, and make us a great game that we can enjoy :D Cheers ! P.S. Now get back to work and stop wasting time on us whiners :D We will still buy the game, no matter how many updates or screenshots you post/don't post
