    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

[ Rip-off Zombie game copying ideas ] Didn't really know much about it until today, but from what i see and understand is a rushed and poorly implemented mod of another game that they tried to pass as "stand alone" just because they had access to the source of the game engine. And in my honest opinion, even from a first look, Rocket has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to worry about, because if DayZ will be just the same as the DayZ Mod, just with no hackers, than that already is +1000 points for the game. New content can be added weekly or monthly. So, all i can say, keep up the good work, and hope to see a great game on launch day(no pressure :D )
  2. Well ... the entire idea, is, have fewer and bigger servers :D Of course there should be some way to keep everyone happy, since there are people from all over the world playing, and they may want to enjoy the game in their own time zone, or as close as possible to it. But the main idea, is that there should be less official servers, and the ones that exist, should be made by Rocket. I wouldn't mind playing on a map with another 100 -200 players on it, especially since they said and stressed that they are focusing a lot of resources on removing hackers, that way, even if i get all the best gear and die by the hand of another player, i would still enjoy the game knowing that he beat me fair and square(going to stop here because i'm going off topic :D )
  3. i think that you should talk about this to steam, since they sold you a bad serial from the start
  4. Then i guess the "compromise" would be having 2 servers, one UTC and a second UTC-7 with the possibility of playing the same character on both of them.
  5. Well, there is one game out there that uses a 1/2 map scale of Western Europe(30.000 km2) So it could be done, but i guess there would be a lot of work involved in it. Maybe, if all goes well, the designers will give this a thought as well, and try to work on a bigger 1 server map.
  6. I hope I don't come across as overly rude but I just had to deconstruct that post of yours Well, that was just a set of ideas, and nope i don't mind, i was just thinking, since Rocket said that weapons will have wear and tear, it would be a good way to keep adding high grade weapons to the game. Also about the map, i'm thinking once you are in a town, you would pretty much know precisely where you are on the map, that would only be a mini aid, to help navigate a town faster so that you can know exactly where you want to head. On the skill part. it's not really that advanced, and overly focused on it, like you said Skill systems do not fit with DayZ, and have been definitively ruled out by the devs. Instead, "if you are good at something in real life, you should be good at it in-game too", BUT ... you always can learn new stuff. Anyway, like i said just some ideas, and i guess they would fit better in a single giant world where all players are on the same server. Hope in time the game will get to that point too(i'm sure on this no one will disagree with me .. well probably server hoppers will :D )

    Please don't implement passing stool

On a more serious note: Yes many people may complain that "it's a game" but ... you need to consider that on top of all is a survival sim, The devs are trying to make it as realistic as possible. Consider the current state, you are in the game, the only challenge you get from it is in big cities, or on the airfield. But while you are travelling from one location to another, you rarely see other players. This would be a helpful way to "track" other players in forests, You walk in the forest, and find a camp fire, then 50 m or 100 m ahead you find that someone took a dump there, from that line, you can get a general idea of the direction in which the player was heading and start making your way in that direction, to kill him ... or scold him, because he didn't cover it up ... Another thing is, on other games, you see a lot of people complain aaaa mini games, loosing immersion with the game bla bla bla ...Rocket is trying to add content in the game from real life, things we do naturally, either if we want it or not; and not add things like "lock picking" or stuff that you need to move your mouse a little to the left then up, to place the pins to open the lock, while a zombie is munching on your skull. Also, a normal person poops 2-3 maybe 4 times a day, i don't think that you will notice this as much as you think that you will. There will probably be hours(or days) before you have to do it; depends on how often you play the game. My opinion, stop acting like children and making this idea such a tabu, because we all do it in real life too. And like someone else said, if you prepare to go fighting and think that it will "interfere" with your "skills" go behind a tree first, then go on shooting people, or zombies, or bunnies, whatever you feel is most challenging to you. Give it a try at first, then see if you don't like it, post on the forums, and i guess Rocket will remove it in the first patch for DayZ

    Please don't implement passing stool

Everyone complaining about the poo system, but i think it could actually be funny :D Imagine yourself in a big city, scavenging for food, and supplied, and then you suddenly hear some flies, you rush in that direction, happy and proud that you found a dead players body ... instead you step in something brown :D :D :D
  9. Ok, i would like to add some ideas as well. I think that a basic skill system would be in order, For example, medic/engineer/tracker, some skills that could evolve and as you practice them more, you get better at them(BUT having a maximum number of points, so that you can't perfect them all) For example, medic, you talked about: Defibrillator Uncommon. Found in larger first aid kits, ambulances and hospitals. Friendly player required for use. Used to attempt to restart the heart after it has failed. Success rate of 60% compared with 30% for CPR. Let's say that if you have max skill on medic, you can have higher chances on CPR ~60% and ~90% With the Defibrillator, Also crafting, shouldn't always give your a 100% chance of success, especially on higher grade equipment(make shift weapons/ buildings) This is where the engineer comes in, and by maxing this skill, you should be able to get better chances at a higher quality(fences, walls, buildings, last longer if under attack) Since the game is made on Arma 2.5, i'm guessing the map would be a lot bigger compared to the one that we have now, so, having a map, would help but it shouldn't always give you the exact location, so if you are without a gps, you pretty much have to guess all the time where you are. Only exception should be when you are in a town, there you should be able to see where you are on the map, just to make it a little easier to navigate around it, and plan your "looting fest" better. Also this is where tracking comes in the game, if you walk around the map enough, and if you stop to "mark" your location, depending on how accurate you are, you should get points for it, the advantage being that when you max it, you should be able to see you location on the map, within a 10-20 meter radius.(big 20m circle on the map would appear every time you check it, but the middle shouldn't always bee the exact location where you are, sometimes you could be right on the edge of the circle) Also, in the case that the map will be of a good size to be able to have "clans", this next idea would benefit the developer and the game, encouraging pvp between different groups. Have a donation system, where player can pay how much they want, and at the end of the week, there should be a random military/medical support drop(which depends on how much money has been donated), the day should be random(Friday/Saturday/Sunday) at random hours. but the players that pay should get a heads up on the day, and the estimated coordinates where the drop point will be, this way, will minimize the chance of "freeloaders", but they also should have a small fair chance, so, there should be a plane passing by, that if they see, they can try to scout around, maybe they get luck and find the place as well. This would be a small war zone since everyone will try to get their hands on the dropped boxes which will contain higher grade weapons, ammo(mainly) and medical supply(the amount of how much will be dropped will depend on how much money will be donated; this way will help the game devs more to keep the game up and running, and will help the speed at which the game is developed and new content added) Hope you guys understand what i'm trying to say, and that i didn't express myself too weird and mixed

    DayZ Game

Ok, not sure if anyone talked about this but, i browsed the first 2 pages on the forum, didn't find any topics on it. Firstly i checked the official website for the stand alone version, but there isn't much information there about the state of the game, just a few screen shots(which look really great to be honest). So, if you could post a little more info, on how the game development is going, and an estimated time when it would be out, that will be great, also, if there will be a alpha/beta testing period, would like to get in to the testing of the game very much.

    DayZ Game

On that note it depends, if you pre order a AAA game, just to find a bucket load of bugs and a unfinished game, yes i never do that, but if you know that you pre order a game which you fully know that is in beta, and will be expecting for bugs to be present, but you do it anyway just to help the dev, then that is ok for me.

    DayZ Game

Didn't expect it to be a full fledged AAA game on release, was expecting a beta, just thinking that since there are only less than 40 days left, they would probably have a release date by now, and could go for a pre order strategy that would give them an extra boost to their finances to better develop the game. As they had time to post on facebook and twitter about the tshirts, they could have left a note "oh yea and the game should be out in the next 20 days" or something like that. Btw. not sure why you getting so angry since i wasn't asking you in person, i was asking on the forum, maybe one of the devs would have shared some light on it. you choose to reply in a bored/annoyed kind of way. P.S. Thanks for letting me know the price thou :D

    DayZ Game

Ok, considering there are 39 days left until "the end of the year" that if a really vague way of putting it. *Edit Also price wasn't in question, and since the game will be on a Server-Client base and not on the old Arma 2, means there should be some stress tests done before it would get released

1.7.3 - Lets Wipe the Hive

Ok, i agree with the part of the tent wipe, since that is just a pile up of gear. But the character wipe, i don't really agree 100% on it. Because it's not just an issue of backtracking to where you went before since all loot is randomly generated, so you might not get the same gear as you had before. Example being the L85, which was removed form the game that i spend 3 days looking for it, and got from a dead player.
