Haha, pure gold! I completely agree. Do not compromise, it's the brutality of this game that has made it so popular.

No idea what servers you are playing on, but the nordic servers I'm on are quite friendly. Not that you can trust 100% of the people you meet, but most of the time it seems like that players are interested in coop. Since my character has gotten some ok stuff now, I tend to avoid people. I've killed one player, who was looting another player that had just been shot (heard the gunfire but didnt see it) and another one that started shooting me about 30 seconds after we met. He fired first and didn't get the drop on me, so I emptied two clips into the guy as fast as I could. Barely survived but then went on to get nice stuff that I have now. So... I bet the new people are doing the deathmatching because they have NO idea what to do. There is no map, so you can't really tell where to go, and if it's night, it's impossible for new people to know what to do. So thread starter, try to avoid other players and see what happens. I meet survivors like me around towns, in the forest. Edit: Oh and zombies are scary enough when you are alone. I avoid them like hell, and they are hard to kill when there is a lot of them. At least for me, I don't carry assault rifles and such, since I have no idea where I can find it.

No. Because then there would be tons and tons of servers with very few players and no way to connect to them. I think it's fine they way it is now. You lose everything once you die, and I for one treasure the life I have once I find anything to put into my inventory. I'm not good at dayz, so everything I find is worth a lot to me.

My problem is that I have no idea where to find wood OR matches. Should have a flint or something to make fires. I mean, it's not like a survivor would only carry matches.. they get wet etc.

The best thing would be to ride the storm out, see if this influx of people are sticking to the game, or if it was just a "fluke"? I have no idea about the figures of people joining, but from what I've read, this was almost an overnight success. To make a mod like this, so unforgiving and unfriendly, yet so delicious, rocket must have some serious brass balls. So unless he sells out to EA to make a console port or even worse: Carebear institute of carebearness™ this mod might be one of the best mods ever created.
