Shotguns are somewhat messed up with some slugs having a range of 250 metres (which is at least 100 metres optimistic, even with a red-dot sight), but half the damage of a 7.62 NATO rifle. Going on muzzle energy alone, both a 12g slug and a standard 7.62x51 NATO FMJ round generate around 3,500 Joules; so the damage and terminal effects should be at least equal on paper. The Winchester 1866 should cause the same damage as the M1911/Revolver, but out to the current 150 metres range it already has. Effective ranges of pistols in DayZ are 7 sorts of messed up, by the way, with most having ranges of 75 metres (50 metres too far). -
Shooting out of a vehicle window or from the back of open vehicles such as pick-up trucks or Urals should be allowed, but with a huge accuracy penalty due to vehicles bouncing all over the place at speed. This is why military vehicles have belt-fed weapons fitted.

Yes, nobody ever hides out the West of Zelengorsk, so there's no point anyone ever searching this area for survivors or their camps. I'm glad we cleared this up. -

Thank you all! I thought I was having Ketamine flashbacks from the 1990s! It's definitely a horse snorting and I only hear it I the woods. Very different from the startled pigeon/dove/teal taking off sound heard if you enter the forest running. Male deer make a very similar snorting noise, but only when in rut.

A weight-based endurance system make more sense. Travel light? You can run further before getting out of breath and burn less calories, so need to eat less frequently. Pack mule? Limits your mobility and burns more calories. -

If you haven't seen me and aren't hunting fresh spawns, I'll let you pass on by. I reserve the right to change my mind the moment I think you're hunting me or are a forward scout for a squad. If you've seen me and have a long gun, you're getting shot. If you've seen me and approach me with a pistol or hatchet equipped, you get shot if you don't heed my warning over Direct Voice. If you've seen me and approach me unarmed and don't respond to Direct Voice, you get shot if you try to follow me when I back off. -

As long as your character suffers a weight/mobility penalty proportionate to the armour worn, that's fine by me. And you'll not be running far in an NBC suit and respirator. Your armour stopping a bullet shouldn't result in your character being knocked unconscious. Knocked over/down yes, but not knocked out. Current issue ballistic helmets are only rated to stop direct hits from 9mm pistol rounds.

My question was for MacarbreLlama99. On the subject of transistions, any sort of makeshift sling would allow you to simply let go of your primary and draw your secondary. Drawing from a thigh holster while moving isn't easy though. Possibly why experienced gunfighters mount their secondaries on battle belts or on the front of their plate carriers now that modern holsters allow it. -

Do you have ARMA 2 running via Steam? Have you checked the Settings tab in Day Z Commander to check that it s pointing at the correct locations for your ARMA 2 files? -
I think the Chernarus Department of Public Safety needs to launch an in-depth investigation into the growing concern that having an AS50 and being a combat logging spunktrumpet are somehow related.
