AMD GPU Users: Has The Video Memory Setting Changed For You?
terminal_boy replied to terminal_boy's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I'll if my ARMA2 is actually using the Stable or Beta version later as I have the I have the "Replace original ARMA2OA files with Beta so Steam works" box checked in DayZ Commander... -
AMD GPU Users: Has The Video Memory Setting Changed For You?
terminal_boy replied to terminal_boy's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Running DXDiag and looking at the Display tab is probably the most universal way. -
AMD GPU Users: Has The Video Memory Setting Changed For You?
terminal_boy replied to terminal_boy's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I can see that any changes I make through the in-game settings are reflected in the ARMA2OA.cfg file and that setting Video Memory to Default sets "localVRAM=2147483648;" which does equal 2GB. However, according to MSI Afterburner OSD, this drops the GPU MEM to around 300MB and I get around 15-20 FPS in the woods of Chernarus. Set Video Memory to Very High and MSI reckons the GPU is using 600+MB and I get 80+ FPS in the woods. Utterly baffled. -
Black Screen In game play/ PC Freezes Now
terminal_boy replied to msadler's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I think the latest ARMA2 patch is to blame. Have had the black screen with 2 GPUs (1 brand new) since the latest patch. Video Memory settings appear to work differently now with Very High giving 80fps and Default giving 20+fps.. -
Tips on being a successful DayZ player?
terminal_boy replied to JesusWatchesAnime's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Keep an eye on Side Chat to try and figure out where the other players are and be somewhere else. Trust no-one. Assume you are being hunted at every moment. Pick the path which gives the least chance of your being seen and the greatest chance of your seeing others. Never travel in straight lines. Spend at least 5 minutes scanning the surrounding tree lines before crossing open areas. Stay below ridge lines. -
I found a can of mountain dew ...
terminal_boy replied to _Anubis_ (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Never carry The Dew. It was not meant for mortals and no good can come of it. -
The greatest DayZ Key protector of all time. [And more.]
terminal_boy replied to Rage VG's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Why is there now "Can I run this?" page that measures the common sense of the user? -
Barter economy goods traded for other goods or services. Beans, bullets and medical supplies are going to be the new Gold Standard.

Sahrani - First Impression / Look
terminal_boy replied to DNightmare (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Looks interesting, but there are some huge areas with no concealment options where one sniper could hold the high ground against all comers. -

I share your pain as I did exactly that when I last played on Sunday. -
Many thanks!

I can see how using a cupboard door or old riot shield would be handy for shoving the odd zombie out of the way, but you shouldn't be able to shove 2 aggro'ing zombies.

Has anyone else spontaneously combusted?

Did the bullet hit a jerrycan next to you? I know you can ignite these by hitting them with axes. -
MP5SD mags convertable to M9SD and vice-versa
terminal_boy replied to spankimus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You should be able to fire any 9 x 19 mm Ball ammo through any 9 x 19 mm weapon in the game. Obviously, you can't fit a straight double stack pistol magazine into an SMG designed to use single stack magazines and vice-versa. Military suppressed weapons use standard ammunition and rely on the suppressor to reduce the firing signature of the weapon as makes it harder for enemies to judge the location and distance of the shooter. If a bullet fired by such a weapon has a high enough muzzle velocity so that it is supersonic when it passes anyone downrange, that person would still hear the "crack" as the supersonic "bow wave" in front of the bullet passes them. -
I rolled back to 12.10 as 13.1 was causing regular crashes on my previously rock-steady 7870. I haven't noticed the HDR issue as I run this at Normal anyway.

And I thought I was pissed off losing a 45 day character to the man-eating rocks of Skalka... -
New Update Makes DayZ Extremely Difficult
terminal_boy replied to GrassyKnoll's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
QFE. -
Forget firing the M107, you'd need to be built like Big Arnie just to hold a 25 pound rifle in an offhand shooting position...
-
That would make it very easy for me to decide who to shoot first though..
-
Not fussed if Zomboys and Zombettes make it into the game, but I predict the media will get it's knickers in a collective twist and the "Ban This Sick Filth" brigade will be out in force.

Player Character emits random farts that sound like and are as loud as Lee Enfield shots?

Late or what? Ps4 and Xbox720
terminal_boy replied to twentyteethlion's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Plus you'd need either: 1. A controller with 100 buttons 2. A keyboard and mouse. -
That is excellent! Have some beans!

Looks like DayZ is a survival game again. Well done Devs!
