Will Dayz standalone come to Mac

I did fire DayZ up once on my mid-2011 MBP using VMware Fusion running Win 7 as a VM, but having less system resources unsurprisingly made the experience less than stellar. The experience might be very different on a fully loaded Mac Pro fitted with an HD7950...
  2. I'm happy to wait for DayZ Done Right.

Will Dayz standalone come to Mac

Or people like me who got issued a MacBook Pro by my employer and just tried to see if it would run DayZ. Entirely playable at Medium settings.

DayZ Developer Blog 15th April Highest one ever

Radios sound like fun. Once you figure out what frequency someone is using, you could wait until they're close to zombies and then speak very quietly to them over the radio. Wait until they turn the volume up (instinctive reaction) and then yell into yours in the hope that this alerts the zombies to the other player's presence.

    Less military stuffs

I take it that the OP meant "less modern military stuffs" which sounds like a marvellous idea after seeing servers full of people carrying AS50s. Very unlikely to find these in a post-Soviet country as their guns laws are usually quite strict: - Winchester - Uzi - SA58/FN FAL Depending on whether Chernarus was invaded/occupied by the Germans in WW2, you might expect to find the odd KAR 98, MP40 or even an StG 44 hidden away in barns or houses.

    another poor performance thread

Is your friend playing on the same server at the same time as you? Same number of players and zombies spawned in the area? What ping do you both get?

I don't understand why I get such low FPS

It's an MSI laptop. Alas, DayZ doesn't like laptops, but you should get a playable FPS at Medium settings with a little tweaking. AA and PP should be disabled.

A 'Safe' idea, check it out!

A safe that isn't a gun safe is really only going to contain jewellery/passports/documents/cash. None of which are of any use in DayZ.

Please Help , Game runs Terrible

I'm afraid that you'll need a good Quad Core to play DayZ at a decent frame rate due to it being very CPU resource intensive.

    Player behaviour

Due to the very limited resources being centred around just a few locations, Namalsk is always 24/7 kill on sight PvP deathmatch. If you want to play PvE, choose another map.

    Your "process"?

Totally spawn dependant, but I will always try to get morphine, painkillers and bandages as my first priority. This is pretty much the only reason that I'll go near any of the cities/PvP hubs. If the surrounding area is quiet, I'll risk looting for longer to get a decent pack and possibly a weapon. Next priority is the essentials: - Knife - Matches - Hatchet - Food/Drink After that, I'll stay off the usual "Airfield Highways" and loot the smaller villages for more for/water/ammo. Once I have an M1911 and a Winchester, I'm a happy camper and will wander the wilderness looting your camps. If the server gets busy or there's a lot of PvP in the area, I'll snag a Lee Enfield so I have a decent medium range rifle.

    The Frustration of DayZ

Been there, died from that. Only in ArmA/DayZ is the landscape as deadly as the enemy. Died due to glitches in: - Floors - Walls - Ladders - ATV + Bridge, ATV + Railroad tracks, ATV + Wall when parked next to it. - Gates

    Uncommon common zombies.

I want Infected: - Estate Agents / Realtors - Charity Collectors - Street Mimes/Buskers - Human Resources Managers So I can shoot them from afar with my trusty Lee Enfield and not feel slightly bad because they could have been a decent human being before they were infected..

    S&W 500 & fanning the old revolver

I think these should be really common and modelled accurately. By this I mean: - Stupidly loud, so much so that I can fire my trust Lee Enfield in safety as ever Z for 5 miles will be running towards the sound of this "Why yes, my genitalia is smaller than average, how did you guess?" pistol. - Very inaccurate because the shooter is going to flinch like Michael J. Fox getting Tazered just thinking about the recoil. - Very slow follow up shots as the shooter will be picking it up off the floor (possibly along with teeth and fingers) after each shot unless they have the grip strength of a champion free climber.
  15. Just be careful with the small barns that don't have the outward opening doors on both sides..

FPS Problems: The Same Old Story

I disagree. I can go from 15 to 115 FPS depending on how I configure the in-game Video options and I'm sure you can too.
  17. Vysoky Kamen. Dominates the terrain around it, has 5-6 water sources close by that can be accessed without leaving the cover of the woods and has access to basic weapon and food spawns in Mogilevka, Pusta and Prigorrodky. A ring of barbed wire, a couple of sangars overlooking the obvious approach paths with over-lapping fields of fire and you could hold off anything/anyone you might face on a vanilla server.

    Nastiest Thing You've Done

I found a can of Mountain Dew in someone's tent, drank it and left the empty can there to rub it in. Of course, the Deadly Dew curse struck only minutes later when a gate insta-killed me.

    Zombabwak

    Blunt, but utterly correct.
  20. Having zombies roaming all over the place will make travelling plenty interesting as you won't be able to sprint through the woods with complete abandon any more on low pop servers.
  21. If the devs model shooting from moving vehicles correctly, you'll need an Uzi or Mac 10 to hit anything. And that anything you'll hit won't be what you were aiming at. This is why military vehicles have belt fed weapons because you need to fire a whole bunch of bullets quickly to hit a target when moving at speed.

    Suggestion for killing on sight

The problem with engineering the game to force teamwork, is that a lot of people who play DayZ for the lone survivor experience like myself will stop playing the game. I like having the choice of helping out people requesting assistance in Side chat or not. I also like the choice of dashing to get to their RVP before them, shooting them full of holes and looting all their stuff. I'm sort of mercurial and I love that DayZ allows me to play it my way.

    Mac+DayZ=?

15 fps in Cherno on almost empty server at Med graphics settings using 2011 Mac Book Pro with 2.2GHZ i7 CPU, 8GB RAM and SSD. So yes..
  24. terminal_boy

    Mac+DayZ=?

Macs are very good machines for a lot of uses. Gaming isn't one of them.

Why do you shoot unarmed players?

I won't shoot unarmed players on sight as, like any other player, I'll watch them a while to see what they're up too. I won't shoot unarmed players who answer my comms when I bump into them in town or in the woods. I won't shoot unarmed players who go along with my usual "I'm going to go this way now, you go another way and I won't shoot you. Good luck." I will shoot unarmed players who approach within pistol range after being requested not to. I will shoot unarmed players that follow me after being requested not to. I will shoot unarmed players that I suspect of being hackers.
