More sandbox Pvp then survival?

I'd add the humble water bottle to the list of prized possessions if they weren't so common. -
Don't initiate direct comms with another player until you have them exactly where you want them. - You are behind them with a weapon aimed at them and can kill them instantly if they start to turn around. - You are in cover and they aren't. - You are certain they don't have friends close by. If you're running towards other players and you are clearly armed, it doesn't matter whether you shout "I'm friendly!" over DC or not; you're going to get shot 90% of the time.

The first time you got good gear

I avoid 2 things in DayZ, high-end gear and Mountain Dew as both bring me nothing but bad luck. - Looted a bandit that appeared to have died falling down a cliff and got a coyote pack, NVG and M14 AIM. Eaten by a gate while looting 15 minutes later. - Snuck into Balota Airfield while most of the sever was PvP'ing in Cherno and snagged a DMR. Eaten by the rocks at Skalka while lining up a shot on a bandit at the small compound to the West. - Got into the Southern Barracks at NWAF undetected, but ND'd my M1911 jumping over the bench in the doorway and every zombie north of Kamenka rushed in... -

No, no and no. That DayZ is unlike any other MMO is why most of us play it. DayZ is a survival simulator. If you make a mistake, you die. No-one is going to hold your hand and you should consider everything and everyone you see to be hostile. -
Chernarus, but I'm slowly warming to Taviana. Lingor didn't really gain my interest and Namalsk doesn't allow lone wolf gameplay.

The inland spawns are scary when you're not expecting them. Had a brand new spawn appear 10 metres away while searching for camps deep in the woods West of Myshkino once and my trigger finger was twitching like Michael J. Fox on crack despite him being completely unarmed as I suspected he was hacking as the server only had 3 players logged in. -

No forced invulnerability or locked triggers please. The idea of being able to stroll into Chenro or Elektro and fill your back with goodies without having to worry about other survivors is ridiculous. I only play as lone wolf and have never been killed as a fresh spawn since I learned to observe the intended loot site before going in. Getting off the coast is vital, but find cover and have a look around before dashing for the nearest loot. Stay low and stay concealed as much as possible. Get into the woods and stay off the common Coast - Airfield Expressways. Get basic gear from remote houses and barns and then approach one of the smaller towns with a supermarket and hospital once you have a decent rifle or a Winchester. Watch the town from a safe places for at least 15 minutes to spot if other looters are nearby. Only move in when safe to do so. -

Why would you want to fill up your backpack with your only firearm when looting? Not only are you reducing your room for loot, but you then have to suffer the capricious inventory system while under fire. -
Agoraphobic Lurker is an apt description of my play style. I hide in the forests looting camps to avoid going near the larger towns as I get twitchy when I have less than 50 metres of forest between myself and an open space. Unless I screw up, you won't know I'm following you in the hope that you'll lead me to a camp as I won't shoot unless you spot me and become a threat.

Best gun for player hunting

Lee Enfield. Fairly common and you can't move far without tripping over ammo for them. If you can see the enemy over the iron sights, you can hit them. Best used Stalingrad Style where you use buildings, trees etc. so that there is only a narrow firing tunnel between you and the target to avoid return fire in case you miss. Shoot one bandit, relocate to a second firing tunnel with overwatch on the bandit's body and wait for the next bandit to show up. -

Having the choice to live in your own stink or keep clean works for me. Add a bar of soap to the list of loot items while we're at it. -
The effect you're adding by decreasing shot spread is equivalent to adding choke in an RL shotgun. A modern LE 15 pellet #1 buckshot round shot through quarter or improved cylinder choke should put at least 10 pellets in the torso of a Figure 11 target at 25 yards. Go beyond 45-50 yards and you have holes in that 15 pellet pattern where a man could stand without being hit. At this range, each single pellet has the energy of a Makarov round, so multiple hits will be required to kill. A good slug load should be lethal at 100 yards from a sighted, military shotgun. You'll be doing well to hit anything man-sized sighting with the single bead on a double-barrelled shotgun. Game loads (BB sized shot and below) are devastating to humans at very close range (15 yards and less). Individual pellet energy drops rapidly after this range and won't penetrate everyday clothing beyond 40 yards, though they're still no fun to get hit in the face with.

New survivors gun guide in 30 seconds or less: - Any gun is better than none. - Pistol recommendation: M1911 good balance of power and magazine capacity and the ammo is everywhere. - Rifle recommendation: Winchester (yes, I know it's a shotgun in DayZ) with slugs. 1 torso hit kill under 100 metres. Plentiful ammo and quiet. -

Some people fail to realise that the DayZ mod is played by people exactly because it isn't BF or CoD. As far as the SA goes, the Devs decided they couldn't release it at the previously mentioned dates because they didn't think it was good enough. 99% of games are developed and released without the constant dialogue between Devs and potential customers that we've seen for the SA. Judging by the amount of sand people get in their vaginas over every little detail or hint of a detail mentioned by the Devs that doesn't fit with what they think the SA should be; I'm surprised that Devs put themselves in the firing line of such whining and wailing. Must be because they're enormous fans of the mod and want to make the SA something special. -
Top tip: Don't go to a gun fight without a gun. Running blindly into a known PvP area is never a good idea unless you have a gun and, even better, friends with guns.

Having stalked a bandit for about an hour as he moved towards NWAF, I dropped from crouched run to prone to take a 100% dead certain killshot with my trusty Lee Enfield. My intended victim was stationary, out of cover, facing away from me and only 200 metres away. Of course, my dolphin dive attempt displeased the ArmA Gods and they cast a Level 40 Clip Foliage spell which caused the usual legs broken/8 pint per second bleed-out Instant Death.
