I only go to Starry if I need military ammo. Unless you're teamed up and have someone covering the sniper hill, do not go into the centre of Starry. Ideally, have someone on the hill and another friend on the other side of the hill making sure your sniper doesn't get flanked.

Being forced to eat badly cooked meat or well past its sell by date canned goods isn't going to cause much straining to be required. Most likely, you can expect 5 seconds warning before an attack of the Chernarus Fizzy Arse Gravy..

I like Berezino as the spread of loot means you can limit your chances of meeting another survivor who has the same idea as you. Being close to the NEAF does mean increase this chance, but I feel it's less likely than at Zelenogorsk which is on the Kamenka > NWAF highway.

Try setting Video Memory to Very High. Yes, I know that goes against all common sense, but my 7870 behaved really oddly with regards to VRAM allocation for Arma2..

Feel free to have your own opinion based on your own hands-on experience with the Rift. Oh wait.. Unlike 99% of people flapping their internet gums about the Rift and posting the video feeds to the displays, rather that the user's eye view; I've actually used one of the Dev Kits. Going from 720P to 1080P isn't going to fix the optical issues. Going to 1080P per eye is going help, but the optics will need to be altered so that the whole display is in focus for each eye. It's not impossible that 2160P might be required in the future, which is going to make graphics card vendors very happy.. My definition of "not playable" with regards to the current commercially available Rift would be something like this: "Using the Rift for any PvP game would put me at an enormous disadvantage as I could not see their player character if it was over 100 in-game metres away from my player character due to the 'screen door' effect of the optics and I'd be very distracted by my trying not to be sick after 10 minutes of use."

If I wanted to physically run up hills to shoot people, I'd have joined the Infantry 20 years ago...

Unless Oculus tripled the resolution of the Rift, fixed the "screen door" problem and improved the optics so that the whole screen is in focus for each display panel since I got my hand's on a Rift last month; I call bullshit on all those videos. Don't forget the motion sickness it causes either. I don't get motion sickness, but I was ready to lose lunch after 10 minutes using the Rift Dev Kit. Yes, the Rift is an amazing piece of technology and it may just deliver on it's promises some day if R&D is properly funded, but it's not playable today.

Let's hope for their sakes that turning graphics settings down to Low doesn't transfer the load to the CPU in the SA in the same way as A2 OA does.

AA causes the same frame rate drop at Low as it does at High, so you if you can live with the drop, you might as well run AA at the High setting to get the best looking game. There's a similar argument for Shadows as enabling them at any set gives the same FPS drop. Additionally, Shadows are very blocky and unnatural (to my eyes anyway) at Low and Medium settings.

You English is excellent. Your PC, not so much. ArmA hates dual core CPUs and your GPU is the entry level 560 which wasn't exactly a stunning performer when it launched a year ago.

I'd go so far as to suggest that, for games running on the ArmA series of engines, the Recommended Requirements do not guarantee that the game will run at a decent frame rate...

Somewhere nice and quiet in the centre of the map that isn't on the PvP highways from the coast to the 2 airfields. The woods on the Western edge of the map and the area around Blunt Rocks sometimes look like a Scout Jamboree with the mount of tents there...

What's the furthest North you can spawn on the Eastern coast? I've spawned just South of the quarry at Solnichniy before.

What have you got Video Memory set to via the in-game Video Options? Against all logic, my Sapphire 7870 GHz Edition would run at 30+ FPS with VM = Default and 60+ FPS with VM = Very High.

Knockdown effect only happens in Hollywood movies. Short of being hit by a .50 BMG or .577 Nitro Express bullet (one being designed to stop German tanks in WW1 and the other for stopping charging rhinos), you're not going to be thrown onto your arse due to a bullet impact.
