Performance Comparison/FPS Thread (Post with full system specs)
terminal_boy replied to magicool's topic in New Player Discussion
Had a quick run around this morning fiddling with settings.. PC Spec: CPU : i5 2500K @4.3GHZ (Watercooled) GPU : HIS Radeon R9 290 - 4GB DDR5 VRAM - Stock clocks : 947 GPU / 1250 MEM Memory/RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1866MHz DDR2 Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 (latest BIOS) SSD : Crucial M500 Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit + SP1 Monitor Resolution: 1920 x 1080 Graphics Settings: Catalyst Control Centre: Adaptive Multi-sampling ON , all AMD texture and surface optimisation OFF DayZ SA Video Settings: Overall Quality : Custom Rendering Resolution : 1920 x 1080 (100%) Vsync : Disabled (running 144Hz monitor) Textures: Video Memory : Auto Texture Detail : High Texture Filtering : High Quality : Objects : High Terrain : High Clouds : High Shadows: High Rendering : AA : Low (not much of an FPS hit and makes everything look sharper) ATOC : Disabled Edge Smoothing : FXAA High HDR Quality : Low Ambient Occlusion : Disabled. Postprocess Quality : Very Low (just enough to get a little motion/rotation blur). Performance : FPS in cities: 50 - 70 (10 players on server, none believed to be nearby) FPS in wilderness: 70 - 90 (10 players on server, none believed to be nearby) (Average FPS:) 70 DayZ Build (DayZ Standalone only): Latest as of 10 AM GMT 19th December Impressions : Seems to be better optimised that the mod as I am seeing reasonable CPU load balancing across all 4 cores. Core 1 is still 20% more loaded than 2, 3 and 4. GPU is being kept at or very close to 100% load, an improvement over the mod where I’d frequently see loading dip below 75% at similar settings. VRAM remains woefully underused as I didn’t see more than 1100MB being used at any time in my 20 minute test. I don’t know whether this is an AMD “thing”, but enabling ATOC at any setting makes all the grass render looking like Shredded Wheat.. Couldn’t see much difference between High and Very High Quality settings, but it does drop the framerate by 10-15fps. Couldn’t see any difference with Ambient Occlusion on or off. Despite these gripes, Chernarus has never looked prettier! -
This morning - game fully updated. Floating tree: Looking down on my neck when descending ladder in Krutoy Cap lighthouse:

Plz for the luv of god add sli support

You do know it's ArmA's infamous netcode/client CPU loading that's doing this? 30 seconds reading "Why is my frame rate so low?" threads in the DayZ Mod section will reveal that ArmA doesn't like Core i7 CPUs much either. Set up OSD monitoring of your CPU and GPUs and you'll see the game maxing out one CPU core while the other tick over with other Windows tasks and your GPUs are never loaded past 60% even with the settings maxed out. -

Please make US servers day/night cycle match our time

This. And make gamma correction server-side too. -
I went up there with a stolen can of Mountain Dew in my pack. My screen went black for 45 minutes and went it came back, my character was dressed as a Japanese schoolgirl and walked with a worrying limp. Never again..

That's certainly how mobile OS developers operate.
-
If you have an ATI/AMD graphics card, MSI After Burner allows you to see GPU data on screen.
-
You might want to add some server details... Server: Number of players: Average Ping:

Happy gamers don't make much noise. Most are too lazy to raise "good' bug reports. Don't let the whingers grind you down!

Those specs have no relation to the game being playable. The Minimum Spec quoted will give a horrible game experience. The Recommended Spec is for a mid-range 2011 gaming machine and will be barely playable at Medium graphics settings.

In former Soviet Republic of Chernarus, fast food is beetroot soup. Cold beetroot soup. With very little beetroot in it.

95% won't read it. Just as they didn't read the very similar disclaimer for the early access to ArmA 3.
-
Somewhere between 0 and zero. I wouldn't even attempt to fire up DayZ (mod or SA) using a 2GHz dual core CPU. I also suspect your notebook has integrated graphics or a very low-end mobile GPU.
-
How did you hear that standalone was released?
terminal_boy replied to -Se7eN-'s topic in General Discussion
Just now. Right here! -
Holy mother of ... (Release surprise)

Mmmmm.... I might just have to buy it after all. Be interesting to see frame rates compared to A3. -
Those Steam specs are a joke. The Minimum would barely open the game and Recommended would be a horrible gaming experience.
-
I hate to disappoint you, but comparing BF4 to DayZ is like comparing Apples to Bicycles.
-
I'm going to be That Guy and wait for the finished game.
-
Not at chance. ArmA 2 eats dual core CPUs for breakfast.

You should have to "zero" a scope when you add it to a weapon
terminal_boy replied to Ham_Sandwich27's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Nope, the city-dwelling, disarmed and oppressed Euroserfs have been taught "guns are evil" from birth for at least 3 generations now. Country boys like me will be the only ones left 72 hours after the lights go out. -

You do realise 99% of people would struggle to load most rifles, let alone zero one? -
Remember that those are specs to run the game and give zero guarantee of playability at a decent frame rate. Lots of people with top-end i7 CPUs and £250+ graphics cards post on here having low FPS or other graphical issues..

Flickering and Reaping textures in Dayz and Arma. Makes it impossible to play. I can never see anything cause gray is always on my face
