are people trying to make the SA to friendly?

Nope, I'm too busy trying not to die of thirst/hunger/zombies to go around being nice to people. -
How to make the map more engaging.
terminal_boy replied to MR DELICIOUS's topic in General Discussion
OP wants the map to be like Yelp with a healthy dose of Trip Advisor. -
Plasma rifle in the 40W range...

Most smart phones rely on receiving satellite constellation data over their wireless data connection for a quicker first fix as they don't store satellite almanac data. Without this, a "cold" first fix can take up to 10 minutes and uses a lot of battery power.

If you know your average pace length and have a a pedometer to count paces, you have a decently accurate way of knowing how far you've travelled.
-
Depends on the phone. Some smartphones use GPS track/track prediction data to give pseudo compass effect.

Zombie carrier pigeons are the way forward.

Apart from basic human needs, what would you want in an apacalypse?

BattlEye Kicked for incorrect version

ATOC was horrible with ATI/AMD cards anyway - every setting made the grass look like potato waffles.. -
Interesting idea as it certainly would give those players with a bit of field craft something to do rather than sniping.
-
@OP: I would stick with your current card for the time as it'll be fine at the settings others have posted. As the game is optimised, we're likely to get better frame rates across the map. Upgrade your CPU for ArmA 3 and DayZ SA. Upgrade your graphics card if you want 100fps playing BF4.
-
Buy me a video recording card and I'll have go. FRAPS etc will cause a considerable FPS hit.
-
Yes, it should be playable on Low-Medium. Don't forget that turning down some graphics settings ADDS CPU load.
-
This is why we must have vehicles.. DayZ dogging convoys would be epic.

Break "engine" Down To Smaller Parts
terminal_boy replied to Karmaterror's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
^ This. Unless you have an inflatable engine lift in your pack, you're not swapping engines anywhere but in a fully equipped workshop inside a fortified structure. Main causes of vehicles left at the roadside will be running out of fuel or flat batteries due to the lights being left on overnight. So a 5L fuel can and a car battery would be your best bet to get discarded vehicles running again. -
Explanation of the Arma 2/DayZ Engine
terminal_boy replied to Devinnspell's topic in General Discussion
It will interesting to see if the Headless Client server implementation trialled on A2 by ShackTac and others can be used for the SA. Anything that takes the CPU load off players machines can only be a good thing. -
Of course the engine can be fixed. It just needs BIS to have the will and resources to try. Like a any piece of complicated SW, there's elements of code that you wouldn't want to disturb unless you're utterly sure there won't be any new issues introduced by the changes you make.
-
Nope, the SA rewards fast i5s just like the Mod does. I'd go for a 3570K and overclock it. Your 7850 with give very playable frame rates at Medium settings. Obviously, with a decent fast CPU fitted, moving to a GTX 770 will be a huge boost to all games.
-
5-10 FPS won't be fun.
-
Should play it fine at High. Keep the i5 and overclock it, the ArmA engine doesn't like i7s.
