Saw this on Overclockers UK. It appears that Windows likes to park CPU cores to save power. This can make some multi-core applications lag slightly. When you un-park cores, it just means that Windows has all cores pre-enabled to be used when called upon. It doesn't mean that the un-parked cores are running at 100% all the time. Un-parking utility and more info here: http://www.coderbag.com/Programming-C/Disable-CPU-Core-Parking-Utility. Have yet to check my home gaming PC, but my Bootcamped MacBook Pro had all cores parked..

Never PoS'd yet, but did batter another newspawn who didn't stop following me.

Has happened to me twice now. As I had nothing, I wasn't really fussed..

Ionising and non-ionising radiations are not mutually exclusive.

Soviet/Russian built weapons that were widely deployed across Soviet satellite states = Yes. Post-Soviet Russian built weapons not widely available outside the Russian military (who didn't even adopt the AK-12) = No.

In the trip flare analogy, there's a sentry on duty somewhere that see's the flare and alerts the camp to the potential threat. What you want the trip flare to do is to alert people who aren't in the camp and not even logged in. Goes against the whole "If you're not guarding it, someone is going to steal it or trash it..." ethos of the game.

Possible "stutter" Reduction - Unparking Cpu Cores.

Will do, but I haven't seen more than the odd, occasional stutter with the SA (or ArmA 3) to date. -
If I Spawn In Solnichniy One More Time I'll Puke.
terminal_boy replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Pretty much, I guess. In my defence, I hadn't really given it much thought about heading WNW from Solichniy being a Newspawn Highway now. I'll try something different next time.. -
If I Spawn In Solnichniy One More Time I'll Puke.
terminal_boy replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Why do people assume that dashing to one of the airfields to get geared up before heading South for PvP is everyone's play style? I like to sneak about and watch others from deep in the woods, only moving out into the open to loot buildings or bodies. In my current life, I spent 2 hours slowly moving unseen from Solichniy to Guglovo via Dolina and Shakhova; checking every building. I found a pink ball cap and a hammer. I saw 5-6 other players during my travels, some heading West as I was, but most heading North. None appeared to have anything they didn't spawn with. I don't want the game to be easy. I want it to be playable Lone Wolf / Wilderness Wanderer style the same way the Vanilla Mod is. -
SUGGESTION: Wearing the United Nations Beret puts you into PVE-Only mode
terminal_boy replied to Charcoal's topic in Suggestions
Wearing a UN beret means that you either do nothing to prevent the slaughter of innocents or join in the fun. -
If I Spawn In Solnichniy One More Time I'll Puke.
terminal_boy replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Spawned at Solnichniy 3 times in the 2 hours I played at the weekend. ArmA'd once, failed at 4 Vs. 1 Zombie Boxing and Mosin'd from afar once near Dolina. If you don't server hop to find loot, you're currently face with following the herd up or down the coast into cities full of geared KoS Kiddies or head inland in the hope that the 20 players who also had this idea since the last restart left a can of cola and some rags behind. Currently near Guglovo having searched every single structure on the way West and only found a pink baseball cap and a hammer. Fully expect character to have been wiped again by the time I can log back in on Saturday, at which point I'll go and play something else for a while. And yes, I am fully aware the game is in an Alpha state, but when playing in my preferred solitary survivor way becomes a chore; it stops being a game and becomes work. -
Getting 5Fps On A Good Pc [Now Resolved, Thanks :d]

Graphic settings identical for both Mod and SA? Personally, I'm surprised you can play the Mod with on-borad graphics... -
If killed by other player I hadn't spotted : hit respawn button. If killed by zombie due to my doing something stupid : minor swearing + hit respawn button. If killed by Arma : epic swearing + go play something else for a while.

Talk smack to me = eat a bullet.

I want these implemented..

^ This. Want to play co-op or adversarial? Find an ArmA 2/3 group.

Players blaring out music over Direct comms = KoS.

Don't get attached to your gear in DayZ. If the other players don't kill you, the game will.

The most profoundly important question ever asked to rocket
terminal_boy replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
Oh, I likes me so hoes! Best episode of Pimp My Ride ever featured an agricultural student's old pick-up truck with 2 hoes and bag of fertiliser in the back. Xzibit almost broke himself laughing over ho/hoe jokes and "It's the shit!".. -

Perhaps he eats well and exercises regularly rather than sitting in his Mom's basement eating Cheetos and whacking off? -

Ctrl+Z to go prone and takeoff your backpack at once.

I gave my old and fat civilian time estimate... -
Ctrl+Z to go prone and takeoff your backpack at once.
terminal_boy replied to TEST_SUBJECT_83's topic in Suggestions
That's fine, as long as it takes a realistic 10 seconds or so to go from standing or crouching with pack on back and rifle in hand to pack on ground and prone with rifle in hands. -
No. This isn't BLOPs or BF4.

Are they breaking DayZ as we know it?

Things about software development that I've learned from 20 years of testing things full of software: - Sometimes fixing issue X breaks previously working code module Y, requiring Y to be modified. If fixing issue X is more important than breaking Y, Y will stay broken until the Devs can fit fixing it into their work schedule. - On introducing new feature E, the Devs realise that the framework they used for E is really good and they could improve features A through D by using the new framework. Doing this might break A through D while the Devs optimise the code for these features. Or my all-time favourite: - Due to poor documentation, a minor change in some legacy code no-one's changed in years results in a major regression/loss of stability until the Devs can figure out what's going on.
