@OP: Overclock your CPU and turn up your Texture and Quality settings to Medium as moving everything to Low puts more load on your CPU.

I strongly suggest installing the 64bit version of Windows as if the game uses the 2GB of RAM allocated to it, your system only has1.3GB left to run all other system tasks.

Considering the "next gen" consoles are equivalent to last year's mid-range PCs when top-end gaming rigs running the latest CPUs and GPUs barely hold 40fps in cities; I'm thinking that consoles might struggle unless some serious optimisation takes place.

.22LR isn't a guaranteed 1 shot kill to the head in real life. Multiple layers of tough clothing (heavy coats or any Cordura) have been known to limit penetration to a couple of inches, so you need to get a clean heart, lung or artery hit to incapacitate a human opponent. -

^ Exactly. Because when you spot that the server population is down to a couple of people, you decide to risk leaving the forest shadows to loot high-end gear from one of the heavy PvP areas. And then bump right into the other player/s who just had the same idea. -

Enabling Vsync will do exactly this. I enable this to prevent frame tearing as I look around using TrackIR. Mid 30s in Cities, 40-50 in or looking towards Towns/Villages and 60 fps in the woods/looking at the sky. -
Is there any difference in the amount of contents lost using different implements to open cans? I'd expect using a fire axe to make more of a mess of the cans than popping the lid out with a screwdriver...

Option #1 for me. There's a whole bunch of new places to see once you have a pack full of beans and bullets. -
Canteen + rope + IV starter kit could do the same. Rope make a sling for the canteen and the IV starter kit provides the drinking hose. Screwdriver makes the hole in the canteen kid off the hose. If you have vest with a pocket big enough for the canteen, you don't need the rope.

Find an application that allows you to manually set your laptop's fan speeds. Set fans to 100% before you start gaming. Use headphones. Default fan profile on laptops is to run silent until it's red hot and then spool up the fans hoping that the load was temporary. When you have sustained 100% load on CPU and GPU, the cooling solution on anything but a dedicated gaming laptop (which is an oxymoron in my book) can't cope. CPU and GPU start throttling, but quickly reach thermal cut-off threshold and shutdown.

Fat out of shape almost 50 something. In my favour, I'm an evil bastard and have shotguns in the middle of an almost totally disarmed city. The rest of my street will be my minions or dead ten minutes after I see my first infected. -
