I get attached to anything that opens my cans without spilling it all over the floor. I found an actual can opener at the weekend and did a little happy dance right there and then.

That argument is wearing a bit thin these days. We're 3 months on from the Alpha being released and most of the RV Engine's historical issues remain unresolved. Additionally, Lag/Desync/Rubberbanding is awful even when playing on a low pop server with ping under 30mS and the 0.43 heat-seaking Usain Bolt zombies are a joke.

Smoke grenades used to be zombie bait in the Mod. Killed a number of players this way rack in the day.

I'm voting for the zombies/infected as well. Played a few hours on .43 over the weekend and the Zeds are now way too fast and appear to have heat-seeking abilities. Which wouldn't be that much of an issue if you could stealth around them as you did in the Mod. Now the undead blighters can see you through bushes and trees hundreds from hundreds of metres away. That they can sprint like Usain Bolt up slopes that your character can only walk up is particularly galling and not fun. Their spawn/respawn/Phase Walking mechanic is FUBAR'd too. Having the same people you killed at Checkpoint X 15 minutes ago resurrected when you drive back through there was bad enough in FarCry 2. Having zombies appear out of thin air next to you or phase walk/run towards you is utterly immersion breaking as far as I'm concerned.

Had the exact same experience in the same location a month ago. Only a couple of other players on my regular server, so I thought I'd risk checking out the normally busy and dangerous military base. As I'm sneaking in, moving from cover to cover, I spot a geared player (helmet, tacvest and M4) leaving the base heading directly towards me. Only having a fire axe, I hid behind a building not knowing if the other player had seen me. He ran right past the corner I was tucked behind and then crawled through a hole at the bottom of the wall. Now, I absolutely could have taken him out with the axe after he ran past or when he proned out to crawl under the wall. I didn't as he'd never shown any sign of detecting my character or posed a threat to me. As an added bonus, I found the pristine Mosin and ammo he dropped to pick the M4. -
I like to think that I'm a non-discriminating moron as I shoot anyone who appears to be a threat regardless of nationality, race, gender or creed.

Where you on the stairs? The stairs in the police station at Krasnostav ate my 3 week old character on Saturday. Legs broken > dead in under 5 seconds. No other player in vicinity. Hope someone found the Tac vest, pack full of food/ammo and the Mosin useful...

No, that's a great CPU, especially when overclocked. Alas, the RV Engine doesn't isn't optimised very well for multicore CPUs, so you don't get anywhere near the full performance your PC is capable of. -

Where did I say that 40 FPS in cities isn't acceptable? My post was to rebut your ridiculous claim that a console which can only manage 40 FPS in BF4 is going to produce a playable framerate running DayZ. -

Bollocks! My rig throws 120 FPS at Ultra (4xAA) on 1080p and can barely hold 40 FPS in Cherno. -

Unless I get surprising while looting, you won't see me and will never know how long you were in my sights. If you are no threat to me, you get to live. Approach me armed = you die. Approach me unarmed and don't respond when told to GTFO = you die. I didn't ask for you help, so respect my wishes when I decline it. Or die. Up to you. -

How about some hunting patterns from the region the game is set in? It's not like the average Chernarusian hunter can just jump in their pickup and drive over to Cabela's is it?

Ambient sounds are totally FUBAR'd on Stable after the latest update. I'm in the far NW of the map on the edge of the debug plains and have 250m clear line of sight in all directions. There's just trees, grass, bushes, a lone rabbit and my character. So why does it sound like I'm in the middle of a zombie NotaCola/Pipsi taste test being held in a gate factory? C-
