Funny thing is shortly after I posted that I got on with a friend, and we were both shot in the back and killed after raiding Balotta looking for ammo for the SAW he found. They hid my body too, lol. All worked out in the end because a bit later I found a what appeared to be a dead hacker, in that he was geared to the teeth with damn near everything including NVGs and that gun with the thermal scope (which I always wanted to try :D)... so long story short I'm probably going to be playing exclusively on servers where it is the middle of the night until I inevitably get sniped while attempting to loot a high value target by someone else with NVGs.

I play on servers that tend to have between 10-20 people and I'm at day 11 now I believe. Only have around 120 zombie kills though; I may be sitting on all the ammo in the world, but I always try to avoid shooting if I can by just losing zombies... may need to start shooting though as because of an ammo box at a heli crash I have way too many clips >_<

1. More clothing options. Also along with that, a skin past bandit and hero on either side of the humanity spectrum, something you need incredibly high or low humanity for. 2. Some off the unofficial maps to be officially incorporated with connections between them; like you access a tunnel on Chenarus and then you can load that character into the other side of the tunnel on a different map. Never realistically gonna happen I know ;p 3. Have wilderness survival be more challenging, like with occasional zombies spawns and a more dangerous temperature gauge (like Namalsk).

Most of the hate about "camping" and "snipers" here seemed to come from the fact that someone called the people getting fired upon "pussies", which is deliciously ironic. I agree with you though; if you are going to kill someone, it is best to do it with the least amount of risk to yourself. That's just common sense.

On my guy now I managed to find a coyote backpack, all the basic survival items, plenty of food/drink/med supplies, as well as the M4 variant with the laser dot site and flashlight with like 10 clips... running in Cherno for shit I don't need just doesn't appeal to me anymore. Way too attached, like it will almost be a relief when this guy dies. Almost. But then again, Day 9 now; I want to see how high I can get :o But yeah Dayz can get intense. Sometimes I end up shaking after an encounter with a player is concluded. Zombies... just a minor inconvienance now.

I miss having NVGs. The only ones I ever got were from hacker tents I stumbled upon in the woods or from idiots who spawned themselves all the military gear just to die while banditing in Cherno... though I did find a broken pair on Namalsk and greedily picked them up anyway... and then remembered it was a daylight only server >_< Now that you have them, do the right thing, and loot in the NWAF on a dead 3am server :o

When you say lots of fighting, is it more PVP oriented than normal? It's Dayz, so there is always the danger of bandits, but is the server more catered to that style?

Slow blood regeneration could work out if it only brings you so far back (caps at a certain number) and does not do it in any timely fashion; that certainly wouldn't obsolete blood bags or hunting for meat.

A friend of mine started bothering everyone he knew about Dayz because he wanted to start a clan. I'd heard a little bit about it before then, so I thought "why the hell not". Been here ever since :o

If you play on public servers than your character transfers and is the same on any public server. If you join a private hive, then that character is unique to that private hive.

Quite a few people I know don't want to get on Dayz with me because of stand alone... I don't see the logic in not playing an amazing game now because sometime in the future there will be another version >_<. If stand alone had a solid release date for next month I could see their point, but right now it might as well be "some day". Worthless bastards make me have to hunt for beans all alone =p

Reminds me of some hackers who gave everyone on a server I was on a special colorful debug menu with a link to their site if you wanted to "buy".

I like that you took responsibility and aknowledged that you deserved what happened. My friend did the same thing and had to rebuy Arma... makes me wonder how many of those unique players are second, third, or fourth accounts of people who got caught with scripts/hacks.

I just started it, but I'm really liking Namalsk. The ambiance and winter environment are quite nice. Curious about Taviana though; Dayz Commander shows 2 versions of the map... what's up with that?

No more a dick move than ambushing people for their loot. Hiding player bodies is standard operating procedure for me. Take what I need, let my friends take what they need, and then burn the rest.

It is pretty satisfying to get a camp together, but you can lose it all if the server gets screwed up. Happened to my group a few times, and then we just kind of gave up on the idea... other players finding and taking our stuff is fair, but the server despawning our saved vehicles or going down and wiping everything isn't D:

Reminds me of a game where it was starting to get dark and there weren't many people on the server besides me and my friend. We were exploring the north east costal city (which is more like a huge sprawling town) when we kept hearing what sounded like an ATV, sometimes close by or sometimes in the distance; it sounded like it was idling. We looked for it, didn't find it. and then it stopped. We went on. Throughout our entire time there we kept hearing it rumbling, and then we got out into the woods and it persisted. It was really close to dark now, and it just kept coming and going. Made the whole session feel like a horror movie. D:

Hearing a bunch of people in side chat talk about meeting up in Cherno, and thinkining they were idiots until my friend insisted we go... we ended up with like 8 people fully armed hanging out in front of the hospital/apartments, all being friendly. Then 4 of us (not including my friend who had to go) went together to raid Stary as the sun was going down. On the way we found a helicopter crash site with a FNFAL and a bunch of ammo, and then raided Stary, where we found a mostly functioning car which we then used to raid the NWAF (I ended up getting a coyote backpack out of it) and then we went our mostly separate ways and logged as it was late. It was amazing to find so many people willing to work together (and not murder) strangers for their beans (or M4 with scope and flashlight attachment as well as like 10 mags in my case). It gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

I've only played Chenarus and Panthera (briefly). Panthera was interesting, but having to be tied to one server ruins it for me, especially when the server I got equipped on decided to change to a different map.

Bought it for Dayz and haven't actually touched Arma 2 by itself. Think Dayz was worth the 20 bucks I spent on it :o

^^ Vehicles... nothing but trouble. I haven't met many incredibly stupid people, but I've made plenty of stupid mistakes myself. Last week I died like 4 times in quick succession in one night (when I normally last days on one life). Started off with me checking out Stary (alone), seeing there weren't many people on the server, and then going "I'm sure I'm alone". Started looting, and second tent in I got shot in the back. From there I got killed twice by "friendly" survivors who claimed they hailed me but I didn't stop... one of them was a guy in a church, but as it was getting dark I mistook him for a strangely spawned zombie and ran in with my hatchet and a few other zombies in tow just to get put down by an AK. Fun side note: later I heard people in side chat talking about how all voice chat was disabled on that server. Not sure if you can actually do that, but if so it adds hilarity to the situation of people who thought I was intentionally ignoring their warnings.
