    Dayz Tents and Items?

Tents used to be good, but maybe they got broke somewhere along the way. They are supposed to stay put though and save your stuff, though note that tents, like stashes, are only on the server you placed them. Anyway for stashes, you find sandbags in industrial loot piles, so warehouses, little sheds that sometimes have car parts, train cars, etc. You don't actually craft them. You can find nails in the same places. Once you have the sandbag you just right click it or the e-tool (don't remember which but one has "create stash" and the other prompts you to make a sandbag wall). The starter stash is bad, but you have an upgrade option on it that needs woodpiles (chop down trees, right click the logs and do what it says, right click that to get your piles) and then eventually nails. As far as I know stashes have been in for a couple updates at least so it definitely seems stable. Server I'm on my stashes have been there since I put them up about a week and a half ago and that server has 4 times a day server restarts.

    Namalsk

Anyone know of any Namalsk server with a decent population and none of the "billion vehicles, self blood bag, start with all items" or Epoch stuff?

    Dayz Tents and Items?

    1. Tents persist even when you aren't on, so make sure you have a good spot. 2. Items not in tents, stashes, or vehicles are deleted on server resets. As a side note, I would recommend making a stash instead of a tent. It is much easier to find the materials for than finding an actual tent and much harder to spot. Find a shovel and a sandbag and you are good to go. From there all you need is wood and then eventually nails to make your own hidden hole in the ground that can hold like 15 weapons and nearly a hundrend items. You could even just pack/unpack your tent and put it inside your stash once you have one; a tent is good to have for when you get sick as using the "rest" option has a chance (not sure how much) of curing you.
  4. Thank you for your help.
  5. I just got back into Dayz after a long break and now I'm finding an issue I never had before: My characters don't seem to persist among all hive servers... at least I think they are all hive servers as they are not hidden when I select "Hide Unofficial" in Dayz Commander. The only thing I can think of is that two of the servers were apparently French (FR # was how they started), one was US, and one had [sBRF]; the two FR servers were consistent, but the other two prompted new character generation. They are all supposed to be non-private hive servers though which confuses me. Anyone else have similar issues? Also I had a few misc questions that I thought I would include here instead of starting another topic: 1. Are non-private hive servers becoming extinct or is there an issue with Dayz Commander? It searches through like 3600 servers and comes up with a list of about a dozen official, currently day servers. That doesn't seem right. 2. I saw a huge second block of apartment buildings on the north east side of Cherno next to a downed airliner... is that vanilla? Asking because if it's not then it may explain some of the weird inconsistency issues I'm having with my characters. If that is vanilla, does that airliner spawn loot?

    Worst Weapon In Dayz -Vote

I don't understand why people talk about the hatchet like its bad. It's silent, common, and one shots zombies. It also fucks players up if you can get close enough. I'd take it over any barn tier weapons besides the winchester as well as any of the shotguns.
  7. In game terms it just means that if you want to get geared you have even less choice in where to go.
  8. mick17 is his group's designated pilot and mostly spends his time in the rear with the gear. Tends to leave the firefights to others... also didn't read what you actually said before posting this, as I like it to be more challenging :o
  9. I've come across a lot of people that were genuinely willing not to murder me on sight and give basic assistance, and I usually try to give the benefit of the doubt too. It's burned me a few times (last time what looked like two survivors with military weapons were in trouble via all the zombies in the world outside of Cherno so I went down with my friend to help them and we did and were leaving when the one I didn't get a good look at shot me; turned out it was a chick with a bandit skin, but I killed his buddy before dying and my friend finished the bandit so it all worked out), but all the times it didn't is what makes it worthwhile. Also helps people seem to be willing to trust a hero more than a random survivor ;o

    Opinions on this behaviour

I've been propositioned a few times by heavily armed people in vehicles as a fresh spawn literally right next to where I spawned. I try not to give them the satisfaction and just let them have their kill. They're assholes, but it happens, and I go on with the rest of my day.

The dumbest/funniest things you've seen in DayZ?

A friend of mine and I had found a mostly complete bus parked by the tents in Balotta, so we fixed it, and road off into the sunset. Awesome! It's getting dark in game and late irl so we decide to find a place to stash it so we can log and start driving north. We're making slow progress through Nazidino when my friend slightly hits into something in the road. He says "I think we lost a wheel" and I was like "hmm" and we continued down the road for about another 15 feet. And then it fucking exploded out of nowhere, killing him and throwing me off into the grass. I managed to not get killed by now spawning zombies while unconscious and almost made it out of town alive with both my gear and my friends before I missed a shot with a silenced weapon and went down for the count... we ended up being obligated to go back there in the dark and rain because I had NVGs at the time. We call that long windy road leading to Nazidino "the trail of tears" now >_<

Is there any decent gear in cherno??

There's also the two military tents by the military hospital. I tend to find guns there most of the time. For guns there is also the fire station.
  13. You can still get screwed pretty easily if you're in the wildnerness when the emissions count down starts, but for the most part it is pretty avoidable.
  14. At the very least it's a waste of resources; knowing where a nicely stocked tent is can be a huge advantage.
  15. The added barracks makes it seem like the server would degenerate the south into a deathmatch even more so than it normally is on a populated server, but still sounds interesting. I'll check it out ;o
